Chapter 690 Francis's Anger
"It wouldn't be necessary for Mr. Hotchner to take it so seriously if it wasn't important to him," Cecilia retorted.
Gideon laughed again.
Even when Cecilia exposed him, he remained calm.
Gideon was indeed good at pretending.
"Let me tell you more about his preferences. He loves collecting antiques. His house is filled with them, yet he remains obsessed," Gideon continued. "But he's not interested in women. I once sent a woman to him, and he kicked her out. Now I suspect he might have a preference for men."
"So you're telling me this to suggest you could sell your body?" Cecilia asked.
Gideon sneered, "Cecilia, don't get any ideas about me."
Cecilia wanted to argue.
Gideon added, "You have no choice. This is the only way you can save yourself. Whether you succeed or not depends on you."
Cecilia pressed her lips together.
She knew she had no leverage to negotiate with Gideon.
"Get ready. He should be here in about half an hour."
With that, Gideon left.
Cecilia's face clearly showed some discomfort.
Gideon was obviously making things difficult for her.
Harry was just a stranger to her. For a stranger who only cared about antiques and not women, asking her to close a deal that would make Harry lose money was almost impossible.
Her eyes narrowed.
At that moment, she was still thinking about the characteristics of the person Gideon described, feeling a sense of familiarity.
With doubts in her mind, she was called to Gideon's living room half an hour later.
As soon as she walked in, her eyes paused noticeably.
The man sitting in the living room, chatting happily with Gideon, also had a momentary flicker in his eyes.
But it was fleeting.
Only they knew the emotional turmoil inside.
Cecilia pressed her lips together.
It was indeed Francis.
How could Francis have any connection with Gideon?
She always thought Alaric had hidden Francis away to keep him safe.
How did he get involved in this?
"Cecilia, this is Harry, the person I mentioned to you. He's from the Yakurosean Empire, a foreign national," Gideon briefly introduced.
"Hello, Harry," Cecilia said calmly.
"Hello, Ms. Lockhart?" Harry seemed a bit unsure.
He might have been surprised.
"No need to delve into why Cecilia is here," Gideon said bluntly.
He didn't want Harry to ask more questions.
Harry didn't press further.
He changed the subject, looking very excited, "Didn't you say you had a new antique for me?"
"Didn't I show you?" Gideon pointed at Cecilia.
Cecilia felt a bit embarrassed at that moment.
Harry's face also changed. "Gideon, we've known each other for years, and this is the first time I've seen you make such a joke. Don't you think it's a bit much?"
He meant that Gideon had tricked him into coming here to see Cecilia.
"Don't be mad. I know you're not interested in women. Neither am I, or we wouldn't be friends," Gideon said nonchalantly. "I didn't bring you here to see Cecilia. I meant that Cecilia has a medieval ruby. Her husband, Alaric, gave it to her at an auction in Serenovia City. I thought you'd like it."
"The ruby I once saw at Treasures of Time Antique Store?" Harry got excited again. "I tried to buy it, but I heard it was reserved. I wanted to contact the seller, but it was already donated for a charity auction. Then I got busy and forgot about it."
"It's with Cecilia," Gideon said directly.
"Ms. Lockhart, could you show me the ruby?" Harry asked eagerly.
Cecilia looked at Gideon speechlessly.
He knew the ruby wasn't with her.
Was she supposed to produce it out of thin air?
"Sorry, I gave it to my mother," Cecilia apologized to Harry.
Harry looked disappointed.
"So it's not with me."
"I can go to Mrs. Lockhart's place. I just want to see it. I couldn't forget it after seeing it last time," Harry suggested.
Cecilia looked at Gideon.
Gideon clearly wouldn't agree. He said, "That's not possible right now."
Harry looked displeased."Did you bring me here just to mess with me?"
"No," Gideon patted Harry's shoulder. "Even if there's no antique to admire, we haven't seen each other in a while. Can't we have a meal together?"
"You shouldn't have tricked me!" Harry was unhappy.
"How did I trick you? I told you the antique is with Cecilia, and now you know how to get it. I've done this much, and you still don't appreciate my goodwill?" Gideon pretended to be angry.
Harry seemed to understand instantly. He quickly said, "Thank you."
He clearly thought Cecilia would sell him the ruby.
"It's getting late. Let's have lunch," Gideon invited.
"Alright," Harry said politely.
They walked to the glass dining room together.
In front of them were exquisite dishes.
Harry ate and commented, "It's been a while since I had a meal at your place. The taste has improved."
"It's still not as good as the Gourmet Delicacies at your place," Gideon said modestly.
"Each has its own merits," Harry said, glancing at Cecilia. "Ms. Lockhart, you're eating very little?"
"No," Cecilia smiled lightly.
She was just a bit emotional, affecting her appetite.
She had to admit, Francis was much more natural than she was.
She finally understood why Alaric always said Francis was more suited to be the heir of the Royal Family of Whitaker.
Because he could remain so calm.
His psychological endurance was incomparable.
Gideon placed a piece of premium cod on Cecilia's plate, "Rich in protein, good for the baby."
Cecilia was stunned.
She looked up at Gideon.
Harry was surprised, "Ms. Lockhart, are you pregnant?"
"Do you not follow the news?" Gideon said casually after serving the dish. "Alaric announced it publicly. The whole country knows she's carrying Alaric's child."
"I don't usually watch the news," Harry said naturally.
Cecilia pressed her lips together.
She quietly ate the deep-sea cod Gideon had served her.
She ate very quietly.
She didn't notice the slight upward curve of Gideon's lips when he saw her eating the cod.
But Francis noticed Gideon's subtle expression clearly.
Francis remained outwardly calm.
But inside, he was cursing.
That bastard Gideon.
Daring to desecrate Cecilia, he would make sure Gideon met a terrible end!
Daring to imprison Alaric's wife, he was simply asking for it!
