Chapter 133 You Dislike My Saliva
"Alright, time to clock out," Cecilia said, stretching before leaving the Lockhart Group building with Augustus.
As they headed out, Rose was still at her desk, organizing files.
"Head home early," Cecilia advised.
"Sure, I'll leave once I finish prepping for tomorrow's meeting," Rose replied respectfully.
Cecilia gave a slight nod.
In her past life, Cecilia hadn't been directly involved in business, but she grew up in a business family. Theodore often talked shop at home, and she picked up a lot. With her natural talent, she had a deep understanding of the business world. Later, she married Dominic and helped him strategize, which was her indirect way of engaging in business. She knew that relationships were key to business success.
That's why she always focused on winning people over first.
She got into the car driven by Augustus and headed back to Alaric's villa.
Unexpectedly, the villa was brightly lit.
The usually quiet villa area felt warm and inviting with all the lights on.
She opened the car door and walked into the hall.
After dropping her off, Augustus would leave and come back to pick her up the next morning.
In the villa, it was just Alaric, herself, and George.
Cecilia always felt that many of Alaric's actions didn't match his personality.
For instance, it was late, but he was still watching TV on the sofa.
Shouldn't he be in bed playing games with Cassius?
Seeing her return, he greeted her casually, "Welcome back."
Cecilia felt like they were an old married couple.
She nodded calmly.
At that moment, George, who had been cleaning, saw her return and quickly brought out the tonic he had prepared. "Mrs. Whitaker, please enjoy."
He gently placed it on the living room table.
Cecilia frowned; she had planned to eat at the dining table.
Putting it on the living room table meant she would be sitting too close to Alaric!
Of course, Cecilia wasn't one to fuss over small matters. She walked over gracefully, sat next to Alaric, and began eating the tonic George prepared for her every night.
"How does it taste?" Alaric asked.
"Pretty good," Cecilia replied.
She genuinely thought George had a knack for cooking and housekeeping, and he put a lot of effort into it.
Every time Cecilia ate his food, she felt a sense of warmth.
"Let me try," Alaric said.
Cecilia watched as his mouth directly took her spoon.
She had just used it, but he bit into it without hesitation.
Cecilia felt a bit uncomfortable.
Alaric, however, ate nonchalantly. After his lips left her spoon, he commented, "Indeed, it's pretty good."
She just stared at the spoon Alaric had used, speechless.
"Why aren't you eating?" Alaric asked innocently.
Cecilia felt that saying she was disgusted would hurt Alaric's pride. But she really wasn't used to sharing a spoon with someone.
They were at a bit of a stalemate.
"Are you disgusted by me?" Alaric finally showed some self-awareness.
Cecilia felt a bit relieved.
Just as she was about to get a new spoon, Alaric spoke up, "You actually dislike my saliva, but I don't dislike you!" Alaric said with a completely incredulous expression.
Sometimes Cecilia thought Alaric could win an Oscar; he was such a good actor.
She didn't believe Alaric would be so petty!
Ignoring him, she got up to get a new spoon.
Cecilia's eyes widened as Alaric suddenly grabbed her, pinning her to the sofa and kissing her hard.
"Ugh..." Cecilia resisted, but it was futile.
Alaric kissed her thoroughly, ravaging her lips.
George, who had been cleaning nearby, blushed at the sight and quickly went upstairs.
He couldn't help but sigh, "Youth is wonderful!"
After a while, Cecilia finally pushed Alaric away.
As she did, she noticed a thin string of saliva between their lips, even though it broke instantly.
"Alaric, are you insane?" Cecilia wiped her mouth.
Her lips were swollen from his biting, and they hurt.
"Yes," Alaric said, "But I only kiss you."
Cecilia was furious.
She felt there was no one more shameless than Alaric in this world.
She angrily left the sofa.
As she left, her heart was still racing. Her breathing was inexplicably erratic.
Cecilia thought she must have been so angry that her heart skipped a beat.
"Cecilia," Alaric's voice came from behind her.
Cecilia didn't want to respond to him.
"Don't go to the rooftop again," Alaric said.
Cecilia paused. She was very annoyed.
Was Alaric making demands of her? His tone sounded like he was lecturing her. Even her dad never spoke to her like that; what right did he have?
Cecilia was about to speak, but Alaric spoke up, "Although I know you did it to establish yourself at the Lockhart Group and to prevent other employees from threatening you in the same way, I can't deny that your actions will indeed make the employees respect and fear you, but..." Alaric suddenly paused.
Cecilia frowned.
"But my heart isn't good. I'm afraid I can't handle it," Alaric's previously serious tone suddenly turned into one of deep affection.
The words Cecilia was about to say were inexplicably swallowed back.
She took a deep breath and calmly said, "Don't talk to me like that."
Alaric's deep eyes stared at her intently.
Cecilia added, "I won't fall in love with you."
She would never fall in love with anyone again in this lifetime.
She had a strong sense of purpose since she had been reborn.
She had too many things to do. But the one thing she didn't have was feelings.
Cecilia's steps as she left were clearly quick and a bit erratic, as if she was afraid of something.
Yes, she was afraid of Alaric. He was too good at bewitching people.
She heard him shout from downstairs, "Do as you please, but I have feelings for you."
Cecilia thought Alaric might have said these words to a thousand women before.
Then she quickly returned to her room, slammed the door shut, and locked it.
She took a deep breath, really not wanting to think about it for another second.
She opened the bathroom door, planning to take a shower and go to bed.
After such a tiring day, she needed to rest early.
She turned on the faucet and was about to undress when she suddenly saw her face in the mirror.
She had expected to see an angry face, but she was surprised to find her cheeks flushed and radiant.
Cecilia couldn't help but lightly bite her lip. It seemed like Alaric's taste still lingered in her mouth.
