Chapter 167 Spokesperson Lily
Gordon finally got in touch with Chris.
The group decided to meet at a café.
Chris brought Lily White, the artist Cecilia had specifically asked for.
Both of them seemed flattered. They probably couldn't believe a big company like the Lockhart Group wanted to work with them.
"Hello, Mr. Sanders," Cecilia greeted.
"H-h-hello, Mrs. Whitaker," Chris stammered, shaking hands quickly.
"Hello, Ms. White," Cecilia greeted Lily.
Lily, also flattered, quickly extended her hand, "Hello, Mrs. Whitaker."
They shook hands.
Cecilia just looked at Lily.
She didn't follow celebrities, so she had no prior interactions with Lily. She'd seen her on TV and thought she was pretty. If Lily weren't Cassius's future wife, she wouldn't have paid her any mind.
But that was years away.
Right now, Lily and Cassius had no connection.
Lily was still an unknown starlet, and Cassius was still a playboy.
"Ms. Lockhart," Lily said, still holding Cecilia's hand, "Do you know me?"
Lily felt like they were acquaintances but couldn't remember meeting someone so significant.
"No." Cecilia snapped back to reality and let go of Lily's hand.
She said calmly, "Ms. White, I just thought you were very beautiful and got lost in thought."
A blush warmed Lily's cheeks.
She smiled, "Mrs. Whitaker, that's very kind of you to say. I saw your wedding with Mr. Whitaker and thought you were gorgeous. In person, you're even more stunning."
She was genuinely complimenting her.
Lily was confident in her looks, but Cecilia was on another level.
Even in the entertainment industry, Cecilia's beauty was unmatched.
"Thank you," Cecilia smiled and said, "Please, have a seat."
Lily and Chris sat down.
Cecilia got straight to the point. "I invited you today to ask Ms. White to be the image spokesperson for our 'Tower of Light.' Are you interested?"
"Really?" Chris was visibly excited.
He hadn't expected such a great opportunity.
Before this, they hadn't secured any endorsements, and Lily struggled to get small roles. Now, they were being asked to endorse the second-largest conglomerate in the country.
It felt like a dream.
"Of course, it's real," Cecilia confirmed, "I've already prepared the contract."
She had Rose bring out the contract.
Gordon was still shocked.
He had been shocked earlier, but now he couldn't hold back.
"Mrs. Whitaker, what do you mean?" Gordon asked, clearly noticing something.
"I never planned to sign Wendy," Cecilia said bluntly.
"Wendy's way more famous than Lily! If you're not signing Wendy, at least get someone on her level. Are you kidding by making Lily the spokesperson?" Gordon couldn't agree at all.
Lily felt a bit embarrassed by Gordon's words.
But she had to admit, hearing Wendy's name scared her. Wendy seemed unattainable. The Lockhart Group giving up Wendy for her felt unrealistic.
"I'm not joking," Cecilia said firmly to Gordon. "I've always wanted to sign Lily; otherwise, I wouldn't have prepared the contract in advance."
Gordon skeptically picked up the contract and glanced at it.
Seeing the black and white text, he said, "I can't believe you took $30 million to sign Lily."
Hearing the $30 million figure, Lily and Chris were even more shocked. They felt like they had won the lottery. 'Were they dreaming?' Given Lily's current worth, getting a seven-figure endorsement would be a blessing for her. Now, they were offering her an eight-figure deal. She couldn't believe it.
"Of course, I have my reasons," Cecilia explained to Gordon, who was shocked and couldn't accept it. "First, if the Lockhart Group's endorsement fee is too low, it will make the project look cheap. So anything below $30 million is out of the question. Second, Lily is in the prime of her career. By raising her value to $30 million, it will elevate her status in the entertainment industry, allowing her to advance more quickly. I believe she can become a top-tier star. Once she does, having her as our spokesperson will bring us immense benefits."
"What if she doesn't become a top-tier star?" Gordon countered.
"That's impossible," Cecilia said with frightening certainty.
It made Lily feel like she would be letting Cecilia down if she didn't make it big. She felt an inexplicable amount of pressure.
Gordon wanted to say more.
"The contract is finalized," Cecilia interrupted. "I will personally explain to the higher-ups why I signed Lily, so you won't be in a difficult position."
Gordon held back and didn't say more. Cecilia had made it clear; what more could he say? After all, Cecilia was the chairman's daughter. If she insisted on something, as long as she could handle it, it was fine.
"Mr. Sanders and Ms. White, please review the contract. If everything is in order, we can sign it," Cecilia handed them the contract.
Chris quickly took it respectfully and reviewed the contents seriously. Lily also reviewed the contract. She really couldn't believe what she was seeing.
After a long while, Chris said, "No problem, Mrs. Whitaker, but I do have a question."
"Go ahead."
"I really don't understand why you chose Lily. She's just a newcomer with not enough exposure. How did you even notice her?"
"Would you believe me if I said it was intuition?" Cecilia laughed. Her smile was truly beautiful.
Chris, of course, didn't believe it. No one did.
Cecilia knew she couldn't fool them. She said directly, "I have to thank someone."
"Who?" Lily was curious.
'Your future husband. Cassius.'Cecilia's mind raced with an answer.
