Chapter 593 Business Banquet (1)

Cecilia stared at the news, her mind wandering to why Dominic chose to end it all.

She was calm. Or at least, she always thought she was.

She didn't love Dominic anymore, not even a smidge.

But her eyes flickered as she looked at Alaric, who was gently wiping away her tears with his slender fingers.

It hit her then—she was crying.

She gave a faint smile, "I'm just so happy, that's why I'm crying."

Not because Dominic was gone.

Not because he chose to die by biting his tongue, like he once swore he would.

She just felt... relieved.

Totally relieved.

The grudges from her past life finally had a perfect ending.

Her family was still intact.

Her wealth was still there.

And most importantly, she had Alaric, the man she deeply loved, by her side.

She felt content.

Alaric smiled softly.

Sometimes, Cecilia couldn't quite read Alaric's emotions.

All she heard him say was, "I know. But from now on, you're not allowed to cry for any man, no matter the reason."

Cecilia bit her lip.

She was well aware of Alaric's domineering nature.

"Because I can't stand to see you cry. No other man has the right to make you cry."

As he finished speaking, Alaric's kisses landed all over Cecilia's face, kissing away her tears bit by bit.

Cecilia wrapped her arms around Alaric's neck.

She went from being passive to active, very active.

Dominic's death didn't matter at all in her life.

But Alaric's love?

It made her whole life colorful and vibrant.

Dominic's death caused quite a stir in the Yakurosean Empire, and people talked about it for a long time.

Some thought he got what he deserved.

Others thought it was a pity.

Of course, they didn't pity Dominic.

They pitied the Kingsley family, one of the most famous aristocratic families in the Yakurosean Empire, which was destroyed overnight.

The Kingsley Group was acquired.

It was split into many sections, fragmented and bought by different companies.

Cecilia also acquired some parts.

She thought they would be beneficial for future development.

By the day after Dominic's death, she could look at everything about the Kingsley Group with a detached perspective, let alone half a month later.

She had almost forgotten the so-called Kingsley family and all the suffering she had endured within it.

After finishing a work meeting, she returned to her office.

Rose reported, "Ms. Lockhart, there's a business gathering in Serenovia City tonight. Mr. Lockhart said you should attend on his behalf."

"He is getting lazier," Cecilia said, a bit speechless.

She had wanted to spend more time with Alaric.

Alaric didn't have much time left to recuperate at home.

And once he returned to the State Office...

She could already imagine how busy Alaric would be.

The people of the Hotchner family would definitely assign Alaric many tasks.

"Should I decline?" Rose asked, seeing Cecilia's expression.

"No need," Cecilia said calmly.

There was no way to refuse.

Theodore would definitely force her to attend, using the excuse of needing to spend more time with Genevieve.

Having experienced loss in her past life, she actually hoped more that Theodore and Genevieve could live for themselves.

"Got it," Rose responded respectfully.

"Tell Pierce to come with me tonight," Cecilia instructed.

"Okay," Rose nodded, feeling a bit abandoned, then asked, "What about me?"

Cecilia smiled, "You come along too."

After being away for a while, she realized she needed to cultivate more talent.

So when trouble came, she could leave without worries.

"Yes," Rose left, satisfied.

Cecilia watched Rose's back and smiled.

She thought for a moment and called Alaric, "I can't get off work on time tonight."

"Why?" Alaric sounded displeased.

"There's a business banquet I need to attend."

"When will you be back?"

"Before 11."

"10."

"Alaric," Cecilia was annoyed. Alaric was really too overbearing.

"10, no later," Alaric was firm.

Cecilia thought for a moment, "Okay, I'll try."

"I'll be waiting for you at home," Alaric, having gotten his way, was clearly in a good mood, "Clean and waiting for you."

Alaric's body, as long as it recovered a little, craved sex.

At 5 PM, Cecilia took Pierce and Rose to pick out dresses.

"Thanks for all your hard work lately," Cecilia said to Pierce.

Because of Alaric's situation, Pierce had been holding up the operations of the Lockhart Group for a long time.

Pierce smiled, "It's my duty to help you solve problems."

"I won't treat those who contribute to the company unfairly," Cecilia smiled, "Keep up the good work."

"Yes," Pierce's smile seemed to hesitate for a second.

After getting dressed, at 7 PM, they arrived at the banquet venue.

As soon as Cecilia walked in, she heard a familiar voice, "Cecilia!"

The voice was a bit loud.

In such a setting, it was clearly out of place.

Cecilia just shook her head, half-amused, half-exasperated. It was so typical of Seraphina.

Despite Seraphina's noble status, she lacked the noble demeanor.

She turned and saw Seraphina excitedly walking towards her, as if seeing a savior, "I knew you would come."

"Why are you here?" Cecilia was a bit surprised.

Although Seraphina loved excitement, she usually wouldn't want to attend such business banquets.

"Accompanying Dashiell," Seraphina said, her tone full of complaints.

Cecilia couldn't help but laugh.

It seemed that during this time, Seraphina had been quite oppressed by Dashiell.

For some reason, she felt a bit happy about it.

"I'm now Dashiell's assistant. Wherever he goes, I have to follow," Seraphina said more and more angrily, "I have to take care of him, serve him. I've never been so frustrated in my life."

"Really?" Cecilia was clearly gloating.

"Cecilia, are we still friends? You're actually laughing at me! I've been having such a hard time and didn't bother you, just to not affect your reunion with Alaric. Look at you, glowing with happiness. I bet your sex life is fantastic!"

Cecilia was speechless.

Seraphina was still so unfiltered.

"Look, you're blushing. I guessed right, didn't I?" Seraphina had a knowing look on her face and couldn't help but complain, "How come you're so good at choosing husbands? The whole world didn't think highly of Alaric, but after marrying you, he became a good man. That praised Dominic turned out to be a jerk and got what he deserved! You're too lucky! Come on, sprinkle some of that good fortune on me!"

Saying this, Seraphina hugged Cecilia tightly.
