Chapter 348 Mrs. Whitaker, I Love You

Cecilia bailed and hopped back into the car.

Augustus hit the gas and took her home.

It was still pretty early, not even close to late.

Cecilia mulled it over and figured she'd head home.

She stared at the sunset over Serenovia City, deep in thought.

She wondered, 'Did Alaric just vanish?'

No word from him at all.

Her eyes lit up. "Augustus, pull over for a sec."

Augustus quickly pulled to the side of the road.

Cecilia walked into a pharmacy.

If it weren't for Seraphina's pregnancy today, she might've forgotten to grab the morning-after pill.

She and Alaric weren't ready for a kid, not now anyway.

She took the pill and got back in the car.

Her phone suddenly rang.

Cecilia glanced at it, her heart skipped a beat.

She forced herself to stay cool and answered, "You there yet?"

"Just got to my place," Alaric said. "Wanna see it?"

"A video call?"

"Wait a sec." He hung up.

A second later, the video call rang again.

Cecilia answered.

Alaric's face popped up on the screen.

"Let me show you around." Alaric quickly switched to the rear camera and showed her the room.

A small two-bedroom apartment, simple but clean and tidy.

"Looks nice," Cecilia commented.

Of course, it was nothing like Alaric's fancy villa.

"Miss me?" Alaric suddenly asked.

They were just checking out the room, and he switched it up. Cecilia didn't answer.

"I miss you," Alaric's smooth voice turned soft.

"You miss me, and why did you wait so long to call?" Cecilia was a bit ticked off.

"I thought you'd call me."

"Who knows how long your flight would take." She didn't deny she'd been waiting for his call.

He chuckled and explained, "Weren't you at the Innovation Arc bid today? Didn't wanna bug you."

"You know about the Innovation Arc project?" Cecilia raised an eyebrow.

"It's the biggest construction gig in Serenovia City. I know a bit," Alaric said. "But I see Dominic's all over it; he's super into the project. Just keep an eye on him."

"I know." Cecilia nodded.

She was well aware of Dominic's tricks.

"Did you get off work early today?" Alaric asked, probably seeing her in the car.

"Something big happened," Cecilia teased.

Alaric raised an eyebrow. "What happened?"

"Seraphina's pregnant."

"Whose kid is it?" Alaric frowned.

Cecilia was speechless. "Can you not question Seraphina's character?"

"As long as it's Dashiell's," Alaric clearly smiled.

"What's your deal with Dashiell?" Cecilia couldn't help but be curious.

"Take a guess."

"Forget it if you don't wanna say." Cecilia was a bit annoyed.

Alaric chuckled but didn't spill.

He switched topics, "Was the cake good?"

Cecilia frowned.

She slowly remembered the cake from last night.

"You can actually bake?" Cecilia was still a bit surprised.

"I can make a lot of things," Alaric smiled.

"When'd you learn?"

"When I had free time."

"Didn't you spend your free time flirting with women?" Cecilia deliberately picked a fight.

"I ain't answering that," Alaric shot back.

"Still hurt?" Alaric's face suddenly got all serious.

"What?" Cecilia was caught off guard.

"Last night."

Cecilia's face went beet red.

Alaric's mind jumped around like crazy!

"When I left this morning, I took a peek..."

"Alaric." Cecilia's face was so red it could bleed, "Cut it out, Augustus is driving."

"I hear nothing," Augustus quickly chimed in.

Cecilia's face turned even redder.

Alaric's grin was bright as day.

"Enough, we're almost home."

"Mrs. Whitaker," Alaric suddenly called her, making Cecilia's heart skip a beat.

She thought, 'Did I really go from Ms. Lockhart to Mrs. Whitaker?'

Cecilia still found the whole thing a bit unreal.

"I love you," Alaric said.

She thought, 'Does Alaric have to be so cheesy?'

Cecilia hung up the phone immediately.

Even after hanging up, her heart was still racing.

Alaric always had a way of making her lose control.

Seraphina woke up to find it was already dark outside.

She had only pretended to sleep to get rid of Cecilia, but she ended up actually dozing off.

If she hadn't suddenly felt hungry, if her stomach hadn't started acting up, she might've slept through the night.

She sat up in bed and turned on the light, holding her stomach.

Seraphina had thought she had some serious illness.

Now she thought, it might be better to be sick and die.

Seraphina walked into the bathroom, intending only to rinse her mouth and wash her face. But as soon as she started to rinse, her stomach churned, and she vomited. She hadn't eaten dinner, so she threw up her lunch, retching so hard she felt like she was falling apart.

It took a long time for her to calm down, her face turned pale.

She thought, 'It's just a pregnancy, why is it so painful?'

She supported herself and walked out of the room.

Outside the room, the lights were bright.

Dashiell was sitting on the sofa, with Lucy next to him. At this moment, Dashiell was correcting Lucy's French pronunciation. As Seraphina walked out, she heard Dashiell's deep, pleasant voice speaking fluent and standard French.

Because of her appearance, both of them turned to look at her.

Lucy quickly stood up from the sofa and said enthusiastically, "Ms. Everhart, you're awake? I made some oatmeal for you. You like oatmeal, right? I'll get you a bowl."

Seraphina responded.

If she weren't really hungry, she wouldn't have come out.She hadn't expected Lucy to have already prepared it.

She sat down at the dining table.

Lucy brought a bowl of oatmeal and placed it in front of Seraphina. "Ms. Everhart, it's a bit hot, be careful."

Seraphina nodded.

But she was really too hungry at the moment.

It felt like her stomach was empty, and she had no resistance to the soft oatmeal in front of her.

She scooped a spoonful, blew on it a couple of times, and put it in her mouth.

As soon as she ate it, Seraphina almost got burned.

The scalding oatmeal stuck in her throat; she couldn't spit it out or swallow it!
