Chapter 174 Lust at First Sight

Alaric's kiss was nothing like Cecilia's. He was intense, forceful, and aggressive. Under his kiss, Cecilia felt she could only submit, unable to resist. She was kissed so hard she couldn't breathe, her hands tightening around his neck. Her mind went blank, forgetting everything around her.

Cassius wondered if he should leave. He glanced at Rebecca, who was clenching her fists, her face twisted with rage, her gaze fixed on the couple with a chilling, murderous intent. Cassius thought Alaric and Cecilia were really pushing it. He felt sorry for Rebecca. She had given so much to Alaric, done crazy things for him, but now he was easily taken by another woman. It was hard for her to accept.

Cassius watched as Rebecca's eyes turned cruel, and she stormed off. No need to guess—Rebecca hated Cecilia deeply. The conflict between them was inevitable. Cassius left too, thinking maybe it was time for him to have a serious relationship, not just casual flings.

Once everyone had left, Alaric let go of Cecilia. He looked at her swollen lips. "Are women's lips always this delicate? Just a kiss, and they swell so beautifully," he thought, wanting to kiss her again.

"Alaric." Cecilia covered her mouth, still feeling his touch. "Stop kissing me all the time," she protested.

"I can also have sex with you," Alaric said bluntly. Cecilia's eyes widened. Alaric, that shameless rogue. She knew she couldn't be too nice to him.

"Besides, weren't you the one who initiated it?"

"I did it because..." Cecilia said, a bit exasperated.

"Because of what?"

"Because I didn't want Dominic to laugh at me!" Cecilia said loudly, knowing everyone had left.

"No," Alaric denied her answer. Cecilia frowned. "I think you just acted out of lust," Alaric said bluntly. Cecilia's face turned red, feeling exposed and shy. She had been attracted to Alaric, but he was too confident, saying such things so naturally.

"You fell for my appearance..." Alaric laughed, his eyes filled with amusement. Cecilia found it hard to believe that after getting to know Alaric, she could see such a bright light in his eyes. In her previous life, his eyes had always been numb and empty, whether he was successful or facing setbacks. His eyes has been deep and cold, not as beautiful as the eyes she saw now.

"But I am hoplessly in love with you," Alaric's pleasant voice whispered in Cecilia's ear. Her heart was beating irregularly.

It was hard to ignore and even harder to convince herself that her racing heart was just a fluke. She wondered how long she could resist Alaric's tenderness. How long could her defenses hold? Alaric was like a drug, irresistible and deeply ingrained.

"Mrs. Whitaker," a respectful voice interrupted her thoughts. Cecilia snapped back to reality, trying to calm her wild heartbeat. She turned to see a staff member in a Harmony Threads uniform.

"It's almost your turn," the staff member reminded her. Cecilia's eyes narrowed. She hadn't come here for a peaceful evening; she came to stir things up.

"Okay," she replied, and the staff member left. Cecilia stood up to leave.

"So, you're just going to leave me like this?" Alaric questioned from behind.

Cecilia paused. "You can sneak out for an affair, but you can't go back on your own?"

Alaric was speechless. What affair was she talking about? Cecilia left without waiting for an answer. She almost forgot—before Alaric's sweet words, he was still cozying up to another woman. She was angry. Every time she thought Alaric wasn't so bad, she'd remember his flirtatious nature. A man like Alaric didn't belong to any woman.

Cecilia returned to the hall and went to her seat. She noticed Rebecca hadn't left in anger. Instead, she sat in Alaric's seat, right next to Cecilia, clearly trying to separate them.

Cecilia sat down calmly, not wanting to cause a scene in front of everyone. Rebecca sneered, mocking her silence.

"Aren't you very possessive?" Rebecca taunted, referring to Cecilia's earlier actions with Alaric.

Cecilia kept her eyes on the runway, ignoring Rebecca. "I don't waste time on irrelevant things. Even if you sit next to Alaric, his eyes won't be on you."

Rebecca glared at her, wanting to punch her. "Don't think just because you've seduced Alaric, you can be smug. Don't forget, in your career, you're a complete failure."

Cecilia didn't know where Rebecca got the idea she was a failure. "I know why you're here today!" Rebecca said coldly. "You want to talk to Harmony Threads about the Tower of Light, right? Even if Harmony Threads wants to cooperate, it would be with me, not you!"

Cecilia remained indifferent to Rebecca's sarcasm. "Cecilia, you can't have both love and career," Rebecca said earnestly. "Give up Alaric, and I'll help your career."

Cecilia finally turned to look at Rebecca. "Who gave you the courage to think my career needs your help?"
