Chapter 178 Alaric Celebrates with Cecilia

The calm night.

The starry sky matched Cecilia's sparkling dress, covered in colorful diamonds.

She looked like a fairy, her beauty almost unreal.

She stared at Alaric, a bit confused and flattered by his words.

She even wondered if he was mocking her.

If he couldn't handle her brilliance, he wouldn't stay quiet.

"Forget it," Alaric suddenly said, giving up.

He reached out.

A man in the passenger seat handed him a big bouquet of roses.

In the night, the roses made Cecilia feel a rush of passion.

Alaric, with one hand on a cane and the other holding the flowers, looked a bit funny, but his perfect face made him incredibly handsome.

Cecilia's heart raced.

This man easily flustered her.

She tried to stay calm.

She watched as Alaric walked up to her.

He dropped his cane.

Cecilia glanced at it.

"Look at me," Alaric said, a bit bossy.

Cecilia was speechless.

Sometimes, Alaric was too childish for her to talk to.

"I'm better looking than the cane," Alaric said casually.

Cecilia was speechless again.

Alaric took a deep breath.

It made Cecilia nervous for a moment.

She also had some expectations.

"Congratulations," Alaric said, handing her the roses.

Cecilia frowned.

What was he congratulating her for?

"Congrats on the perfect end to your new product show. I didn't have time to plan a celebration," Alaric said, raising the roses. "You can't complain."

He said "can't," not "shouldn't."

How could he be so bossy?

Cecilia felt a bit annoyed but took the roses. "Thanks."

"Do you like them?" Alaric asked.

"I do," Cecilia replied.

No woman dislikes flowers.

"If you like them, shouldn't you show it?" Alaric smiled, his smile captivating.

Every time, Alaric made Cecilia blush.

Then, he opened his arms.

He clearly wanted her to hug him.

Cecilia's heart raced again.

She wondered how many women Alaric had charmed to be this good at flirting!

She tried to stay composed, reminding herself not to fall for him.

She had serious matters to discuss.

She took a deep breath and said, "Alaric, are you afraid of being compared to others?"

Alaric frowned, his arms still open.

"Are you afraid people will say you're not good enough for me?" Cecilia asked. "Afraid I'll outshine you? Afraid I'll be so excellent you'll be embarrassed? Afraid..."

Cecilia's eyes widened.

She was suddenly pulled into Alaric's embrace.

Her nose hit his chest, causing a bit of pain.

The next second, Alaric hugged her tightly.

The flowers fell from her hand in surprise.

"I'm not afraid," Alaric's deep voice came from above her.

Without thinking, Cecilia clutched his clothes.

They had kissed many times, but she couldn't remember being hugged like this.

His unique scent filled her nose, giving her a strange sense of security.

"Actually, I'm very proud," Alaric whispered in her ear.

Cecilia used to think becoming better for someone else was something to be proud of.

Meeting Dominic made her question that.

Dominic was just too insecure.

"I thought a man's pride wouldn't allow it," she said.

"Only men without pride think that way," Alaric replied.

Cecilia was stunned.

No pride.

Alaric's assessment of Dominic was spot on.

Self-respect comes from within, not from others.

"The point is," Alaric said, releasing her and looking down.

Cecilia looked up at him.

Under the night sky, their eyes met.

"No matter how excellent you are, I can match you," Alaric said confidently.

He must have enough confidence to say that .

At that moment, Cecilia believed him.

She felt Alaric could.

Her throat moved slightly.

She let Alaric move closer to her lips.

The night enveloped them.

Cassius sat in the passenger seat, watching them kiss.

He turned to Augustus.

Augustus felt Cassius's gaze and looked puzzled.

"Ever been in love?" Cassius asked.

Augustus's face flushed for a second.

The big, burly man suddenly looked shy.

Cassius found it amusing.

Sensing Augustus's discomfort, he said, "Alright, alright, I get it. You've never been in love."

Augustus stayed silent.

For a long time.

Cecilia and Alaric finally pulled away.

Cecilia lowered her eyes, clearly blushing.

She didn't know when kissing Alaric had become so natural.

But why did it feel so natural?

They weren't even lovers, let alone a couple.

Lovers.

Cecilia's heart trembled.

"Hold me up," Alaric said.

She hadn't given permission yet.

"I have wobbly legs," he added, draping his arm over her shoulder and leaning on her.

Cecilia almost fell but managed to steady herself.

Alaric was heavy.

"Can't you walk on your own?" she complained.

"Aren't my legs crippled?!" Alaric retorted.

"Don't you have a cane?"

"The cane's on the ground."

"Can't you pick it up?"

"No spare hands," Alaric said. "My hands are for holding yours."

Cecilia was silent.

Could Alaric stop saying things like that?

She struggled to help him into the car.

As she got in, she noticed Cassius in the passenger seat.

Cassius noticed her expression and bluntly said, "I saw you stick your tongue out."

Could she hit Cassius? If she could, she thought she would kill him!

The kind that hurt enough!
