Chapter 252 Replace Her
In reality, Dominic wasn't incredibly skilled back in the day, but he was far from being a fool. As long as someone was there to offer him guidance, Dominic could achieve a lot.
Just like how she had helped him back then.
She had given him plenty of pointers, but ultimately, Dominic was the one executing the plans, often without giving much away.
Recently, Dominic had taken a hit because he hadn't fully adapted to her changes and had thus underestimated her.
Now that he was aware of her evolution, he would undoubtedly approach her with even greater caution.
So, Dominic was no pushover.
Cecilia told herself to stay calm.
She reminded herself that no matter how difficult someone was to deal with, she had to handle it.
She had no choice, no way out.
She picked up the documents she brought back from the procuratorate and started reading them carefully.
After a while, her phone rang.
Looking at the caller ID, Cecilia saw "Dashiell" flashing on the screen.
"I've sent all the contracts I stole from your general department to your email. There are quite a few. Are you sure you can go through them all? I heard your father's case will be processed quickly."
"I can." Cecilia nodded, "Thank you."
Dashiell replied, "You're welcome."
Cecilia hung up the phone.
Originally, she wanted to ask him how his wedding night with Seraphina went last night.
With so many things happening, she really didn't have time to care.
She opened her computer and downloaded all the contracts from her email.
Then she started to go through them one by one.
She always felt that the $25 million private transaction was not baseless. It might be hidden in these contracts.
After hanging up the phone, Dashiell called Alaric, "Alaric.
"I sent the documents to Cecilia and also sent a copy to your email."
"Okay."
"Will you help Cecilia?" Dashiell asked.
"What do you think?" Alaric retorted.
Dashiell said, "I think you will."
Alaric said, "Then why ask?"
Dashiell replied, "I just wanted to confirm if you need my help."
Alaric said, "I'll let you know if I need your help. For now, focus on recovering from your injury."
"Okay." Dashiell nodded.
Alaric emphasized, "The main thing is, don't let Seraphina kill you."
Seraphina wasn't as wicked as they might think.
After finishing the call, Dashiell left the room.
It was already afternoon.
He had ordered takeout for breakfast and wanted to have lunch with Seraphina.
But Seraphina hadn't woken up yet.
He knew her schedule was always irregular; sometimes, she would sleep through the day. But not eating was bad for her health.
Dashiell hesitated for a long time before walking to Seraphina's room to knock on the door.
Just as he raised his hand, the door swung open.
Seraphina appeared in front of Dashiell, looking lazy and indifferent.
The moment she saw Dashiell, the disgust in her eyes was unmistakable.
Dashiell looked away.
He was grateful he was in a wheelchair and didn't have to make eye contact with Seraphina.
"Are you looking for me?" Seraphina asked him.
"I wanted to ask what you wanted for lunch. I was going to order takeout." Dashiell said naturally.
Seraphina replied, "No need, I'll go out to eat."
"…Oh, okay." Dashiell nodded.
Then he wheeled himself away.
Seraphina watched his retreating figure. Seeing him in that wheelchair, she clenched her teeth in frustration.
They could have coexisted peacefully. But if Dashiell insisted on being in her life this way, she was prepared to match his effort.
She turned back to her room to change clothes.
She casually picked up her phone and saw it was already 4 PM.
She had barely slept all night, finally dozing off for a bit, only to be woken up by a nightmare. After realizing it wasn't real, she couldn't fall back asleep for a while. She checked her phone and saw that something had happened to Cecilia's family. She called Cecilia in a panic, but Cecilia was calm, so she didn't worry too much.
Eventually, she drifted off again, feeling groggy.
She ended up sleeping until 4 PM.
'4 PM?'
Seraphina was stunned.
She thought, ''Dashiell has asked me what I want for lunch?
'Which means... Dashiell has waited for me to have lunch until 4 PM?'
'No! I don't need to feel guilty.
'That was Dashiell's choice.
'I don't owe him any guilt.'
At that moment, she quickly changed clothes and put on makeup, not wanting to stay in the house for even a minute longer. She opened the door to leave.
Dashiell was watching TV in the living room.
Seeing her hurried steps, he called out to her, "Seraphina."
"Don't think about controlling me." Seraphina said harshly to Dashiell.
Dashiell smiled faintly.
The smile was somewhat self-deprecating.
He thought, 'What right do I have to control her?'
He said, "I just wanted to let you know that I asked my mom to find a servant to take care of us. Do you have any preferences?"
"No." It wasn't for her anyway.
She didn't care at all.
"Does the gender matter?" Dashiell asked again, even though he could sense Seraphina's impatience.
"It doesn't matter." Seraphina was already at the entrance, changing her shoes.
"Okay." Dashiell responded.
As Seraphina opened the door to leave, she said, "Female."
Dashiell was a bit puzzled.
"Female, attractive, under 25, preferably around 20." Seraphina suddenly said.
"Servants under 25, or even 20, are rare."
Seraphina said, "Then why ask for my opinion if you can't meet my requirements?"
Dashiell bit his lip in silence.
Seraphina slammed the door behind her, leaving Dashiell alone in the vast, empty house.
He glanced around the vacant rooms, realizing he probably shouldn't have chosen such a large place.
He had only feared that Seraphina might feel cramped in a smaller space. He didn't want to affect her comfort or make her unhappy.
In the first place, he shouldn't have chosen such a big house.
He took out his phone and made a call, "Mom."
Magnolia said, "I found a servant. I'll bring her over later..."
"I want a younger female servant."
"..." Magnolia's face clearly showed displeasure, "Dashiell, you never used to be picky. Is this Seraphina's request?"
Dashiell replied, "Yes."
Magnolia asked, "You're just spoiling her?"
Dashiell replied, "It's not against my principles."
"Do you even have principles?" Magnolia pressed, "Do you have any principles in front of Seraphina?"
Dashiell was silent for a moment. Slowly, he said evasively, "Just follow Seraphina's request."
"Don't you know she's deliberately making things difficult for you?" Magnolia was really frustrated.
She just couldn't understand.
She thought, 'How could my handsome and excellent son fall for a heartless woman like Seraphina?'
Dashiell replied, "No."
He knew Seraphina wasn't making things difficult. She just wanted to find a woman to replace her.
