Chapter 239 Alaric, you are from a noble family.
Seraphina reluctantly walked into the room and approached Dashiell, who was fast asleep on the bed. He didn't look great, but he was clearly faking it.
"Where's your doctor?" she asked, noticing he had been with the doctor all day.
Dashiell, who had sent the doctor to the next room to avoid interruptions, replied, "He's resting. He was with me all day and got tired."
"What if you need a painkiller later?" she pressed.
"I'll call him if I need it," Dashiell said. "If you're tired, you can rest too."
"I'm not tired," Seraphina snapped, unwilling to share the bed. "I don't want Magnolia accusing me of mistreating you."
Dashiell chuckled. "My mom's actually nice."
"Nice at being a homewrecker?" Seraphina shot back.
Dashiell's face darkened. "When my mom got with Atticus, your parents were already done."
"I don't want to hear it," Seraphina cut him off, not wanting to dredge up the past. She feared losing control and hurting him, given his current weakness.
Dashiell fell silent. From childhood, Seraphina usually got her way, except for marrying him, which still baffled her.
She angrily moved to the sofa and lay down, clearly done with the conversation. Dashiell watched her quietly.
Seraphina pulled out her phone and played a game, occasionally glancing at Dashiell, who looked bored.
"Go to sleep. If you feel unwell, I'll call the doctor," she said.
Dashiell seemed skeptical of her sudden kindness.
"Don't overthink it. I just don't want to feel too guilty," she clarified, knowing his car accident was partly her fault.
Dashiell didn't push it, fearing she'd get angry again. He obediently lay down and fell asleep.
Seraphina glanced at him. No matter how harmless he looked, she wouldn't soften.
Meanwhile, at the Luxury Resort Hotel, Cecilia and Alaric entered a guest room after lunch. Alaric suddenly picked her up, startling her. She clung to his neck, afraid he'd drop her or hurt his still-healing wound.
Alaric carried her to the bed and pressed his body against hers, showering her with kisses until she could barely breathe. Cecilia felt like she was about to collapse.
Cecilia could tell Alaric was way more serious this time compared to their usual playful moments. His lips moved from hers to her neck, making her eyes widen.
"What are you doing, Alaric?" she managed to say before he covered her mouth with his hand and whispered, "Don't speak."
'Great, if I don't speak, I'm in trouble,' she thought as his hands roamed over her, clearly getting too naughty.
She noticed someone passing by their open door and whispered, "They're gone."
Alaric, still caught up in the moment, replied, "I know," his voice thick with desire.
'If you know, then let me go!' she thought, feeling guilty for not stopping him.
"I found myself losing control," Alaric said hoarsely.
Cecilia felt a pang of guilt, as if refusing him was the wrong thing to do.
As Cecilia hesitated, Alaric suddenly lifted her from the bed and carried her to the bathroom, turning on the shower. The sound of water filled the room as he struggled to control himself.
"Help me take off my clothes," he said, his chest heaving.
'Isn't this just asking for trouble?' she thought but complied, removing his jacket and unbuttoning his shirt to reveal blood seeping through the tape on his chest.
"Alaric!" she exclaimed, scared by the sight.
He had been aggravating his wound all day, and now he was paying the price. "In my suit lining, there's gauze, iodine, and ointment. Help me change the dressing."
Cecilia carefully peeled off the tape and found the mini first aid kit in his clothes. Her hands trembled as she disinfected and treated the wound.
"Are you feeling sorry for me?" Alaric asked.
"No, just scared. Normal people are afraid of blood," she replied.
"Really?" he murmured, sounding contemplative.
"Alaric, who are you really?" she asked, not meeting his eyes as she applied the medicine. "Are your people questioning your identity too?"
He responded with a sound.
"Are you from a noble family?" she asked, finally looking up at him. His unyielding stance in the past and the mystery surrounding him now made her think he might be.
