Chapter 553 Request for Divorce
Lyra, totally wrecked, shot Dominic a look that could kill.
Dominic knew it was over between them. All his pretending had been for nothing.
"Why didn't you let me call my dad?" Lyra was baffled.
Why wouldn't Dominic let her get her revenge?
"Is it because of Cecilia? Do you like her and don't want her to get hurt? Dominic, you've been lying to me this whole time! I want a divorce, and I'm going back to Astralton City!" Lyra yelled, her emotions boiling over.
She should've seen it coming; Dominic was always into Cecilia.
He said he loved Lyra, but if it weren't for that scandal, he'd be married to Cecilia by now.
Yet Lyra fell for his lies, thinking he didn't love Cecilia and loved her instead.
Penelope was right.
How could Lyra ever compare to Cecilia? Besides her family's money, she had nothing on Cecilia. Why would Dominic ever like her? In the end, it seemed everything was just Lyra's delusion.
"No!" Dominic denied it flat out.
How could he possibly like Cecilia? He wished he could kill Cecilia. Just thinking about today's mess being linked to Cecilia made him want to rip her apart.
Cecilia was starting to drive a wedge between him and Lyra and had even caused Lyra to miscarry. He wanted to kill Cecilia, but he couldn't do it yet.
Any move would tip off the Monroe family, and he couldn't let them know that Lyra had miscarried.
He had to keep it under wraps until Alaric was sentenced.
At the very least, he needed to gain the Monroe family's trust.
Dominic tried to stay hopeful and said, "It has nothing to do with Cecilia. I just don't think she has it in her to do something like this. Don't overthink it."
"Dominic, you didn't even look into it. How do you know Cecilia wouldn't do it?" Lyra pushed.
"I know exactly what kind of person Cecilia is," Dominic said.
"You think you know her so well? How can you say that when Cecilia has managed to mess with you like this? Dominic, are you just being arrogant, or are you lying to me?" Lyra asked.
"I'll investigate," Dominic said, "If it really was Cecilia, I'll make her pay big time!"
Lyra sneered. "With your skills, who knows how long it'll take for you to figure it out! I don't need you to investigate. I'm going to tell my dad!"
"Enough," Dominic said, getting annoyed, "Leave this to me. You need to rest."
"Dominic!" Lyra held back her anger.
"You'll see that everything I'm doing is for your own good," Dominic said, still pretending to be kind.
Whether Lyra bought it or not, he had to keep up the act.
Suddenly, Lyra's phone rang, making Dominic's eyes narrow.
"Let go of me, I need to answer the phone!" Lyra screamed.
Dominic gave Penelope a look.
Penelope quickly checked the phone. "It's Tomas," she said.
"Let me answer it!" Lyra shouted.
But Dominic didn't give her a chance.
He let go of Lyra, walked over, grabbed the phone, and left the room.
Lyra got out of bed, trying to follow.
But Penelope pushed her back onto the bed. "Don't make things harder for yourself. Do what Dominic tells you to do!" she snapped.
"Penelope, let go of me!" Lyra screamed, completely losing it.
Penelope sneered, thinking there was no need to be nice anymore.
With a swift motion, she slapped Lyra hard across the face. "Keep screaming, and I'll beat you to death!" she threatened.
Lyra's face twisted with pain and rage.
Outside the hospital room, Dominic took a deep breath and said, "Dad."
"Where's Lyra?" Tomas asked.
Dominic replied, "Lyra is asleep."
"Asleep? I heard Lyra was in a car accident. How is she?" Tomas sounded worried.
Dominic said, "Yes, we're at the hospital now. But don't worry, Dad. It was a minor accident, and there were no serious injuries. Lyra is fine, just a bit shaken up. I managed to coax her to sleep. Rest assured, I'll take good care of Lyra."
Tomas said, "Dominic, this is the only reason I still keep you around. If you can't take good care of Lyra, you know what will happen to you."
Dominic said, "Dad, don't worry, I am completely devoted to Lyra."
Tomas said, "Just make sure you take good care of Lyra."
"Yes," Dominic replied.
Tomas asked, "By the way, when is the next court session?"
Dominic responded, "I've already talked to the relevant people today. It's scheduled for next Monday. This time, no matter what tricks Alaric tries, he will be sentenced."
"There can't be any mistakes this time. Also, I've spoken to Gideon in advance. Ensure the judge remains within legal boundaries; otherwise, Gideon won't tolerate it." Tomas emphasized.
Dominic said, "I understand."
"It's late. You should rest early too," Tomas continued, reminding him, "Take good care of Lyra for me."
"Okay," Dominic agreed.
After hanging up the phone, Dominic's expression changed.
Luckily, the news of Lyra's miscarriage hadn't leaked out.
If Tomas found out, it would be the end of Dominic.
Dominic turned and went back to the hospital room.
Inside the room, Lyra and Penelope were already fighting.
Dominic's face darkened as he rushed over and pulled Penelope away.
Penelope, controlled by Dominic, gave Lyra a chance to slap her hard across the face. "You bastard!" she screamed.
Penelope had never been hit like this before.
Naturally, she wasn't willing to take it and tried to break free to hit Lyra.
"Enough!" Dominic roared.
Penelope's eyes reddened. "Dominic, she hit me!"
"I'll beat you to death!" Lyra, full of anger, wanted to vent it all out now.
Saying this, she slapped Penelope hard several more times.
Penelope gritted her teeth in anger. "Lyra, I'll kill you!"
"Enough!" Dominic pushed Penelope away hard, causing her to fall to the ground.
She couldn't believe Dominic would treat her like this and looked at him with red, tear-filled eyes.
"Apologize to Lyra!" Dominic demanded decisively.
No matter how angry he was, he still had to maintain his image in Lyra's eyes.
Penelope said, "I won't."
"I don't need it either!" Lyra said arrogantly, "I'm completely disappointed in you! Dominic, I want to leave here now and go back to Astralton City. Expect to be served divorce papers from my lawyer soon."
