Chapter 206 Flirting in Public

"Asshole, you didn't even show up on time," Cecilia snapped.

Even though she was drawn to his smile, she had already told the reporters Alaric wouldn't be coming. She hadn't saved a spot for him, and now he just showed up out of nowhere. Was he born to mess with her?

Despite her frustration, Alaric just smiled brightly. Cecilia was speechless.

"There's no place for you, stay to the side," she said.

"Who said there's no place?" Alaric didn't care. He squatted down and slipped under the ribbons. Before Cecilia knew it, he was behind her, hugging her and covering her hand with his as they held the scissors together. It felt incredibly intimate, and her face blushed, but Alaric looked completely at ease.

The host began the countdown, and everyone cut the ribbon together. Fireworks went off at the entrance, and the crowd applauded. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was over, and the guests were set to tour the site while Lily started the live broadcast.

Cecilia followed the group, with Alaric naturally trailing behind her. Cameras were everywhere.

"I thought you wouldn't come back," Cecilia said, still annoyed.

"I don't break my promises to you," Alaric replied.

"Then why didn't you reply to my messages?" she asked.

"I was on a plane," he said.

"Why didn't you reply after you got off?" she pressed.

"I was in a hurry to get here, no time to reply," he explained.

"You weren't the one driving," she pointed out, seeing Cassius was the driver.

"Yeah, but we were speeding the whole way. I was scared to death, holding onto the handle the entire time," Alaric replied.

"You always have an excuse," Cecilia said.

"Don't be mad. Didn't I rush back?" Alaric whispered in her ear, startling her.

"Can you be serious?" she questioned.

"Your angry look makes it hard for me to be serious," he said.

"What look of mine makes you serious?" she asked, annoyed.

"So you do know!" Alaric laughed, pleased.

Cecilia was speechless. They kept bickering, with some playful teasing. They didn't realize their interactions were being broadcasted.

At first, the audience was just watching the live news, curious about the Tower of Light. Then they noticed a young couple flirting in the crowd, and the comment section blew up.

[Hey! That couple over there flirting, can you consider the audience's feelings?]

[Could someone tell me if the dress Cecilia is wearing is available at the Tower of Light?]

Their interaction became a hot topic, even making headlines. People said Cecilia was strict and serious, but in front of Alaric, she was cute!

Dominic looked at the computer screen, barely containing his anger, almost wanting to smash it!

The old Cecilia and the new Cecilia were like night and day. Not just in fashion, but her expressions were way more lively now. Dominic had never seen her pout before. Now, next to Alaric, she had this shy, girlish vibe. Dominic gritted his teeth in anger.

Alaric's words echoed in his mind. He said that a woman's performance in bed dependded on a man's skills. The more Dominic thought about it, the angrier he got. He shut off the computer.

Just then, his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID, took a deep breath, and answered.

"Sir," Dominic said respectfully.

"Bring down the Lockhart Group," the voice commanded.

"I see, but Cecilia's like a different person now, totally out of my control. It's hard to get the Lockhart Group from her," Dominic said cautiously. "I thought about killing her. If she's dead, Theodore would be too heartbroken to manage the company, and I could take over. But you told me not to act rashly, saying someone is watching me."

"Killing Cecilia isn't the priority. Bringing Theodore down is. We don't have time to waste!"

"Sir, what do you mean?" Dominic was clearly agitated.

"Follow my instructions."

"Yes, sir," Dominic quickly agreed.

The other side gave more instructions, and Dominic kept agreeing.

After hanging up, a wicked smile spread across his face. He didn't believe he couldn't kill Cecilia. Once Theodore was down, Alaric wouldn't stay with her. Then, he'd see how to torment her!

The grand reopening event lasted all day. After Theodore and the leadership team finished their tour, they left. Cecilia, as the event planner, stayed behind, especially since it was Lily's first live broadcast. Naturally, Alaric stayed too. Cassius appeared by their side at some point, just following Alaric around.

Lily had been live streaming all day, introducing every corner of the Tower of Light. From a few thousand viewers at the start to over two hundred thousand by the afternoon, it was impressive for a first live broadcast, especially in an era when online platforms weren't widespread. The attention was earned, but the real-time transaction volume was low because online shopping wasn't popular yet.

The live broadcast ended at 5:30 PM. Lily was clearly tired. Cecilia walked over to her.

"Thanks for your hard work today," Cecilia said.

"It was okay," Lily smiled slightly. "I was worried I didn't do well."

"You did great," Cecilia affirmed. "For a first time, this level is already very good."

"But I heard the backend transaction volume was low."

"That's not your fault. People aren't used to online shopping yet. But after your day-long live broadcast, I think there will be a surprising result tomorrow."

"Hopefully," Lily agreed.

"It's getting late, you should go home and rest."

"Okay," Lily smiled. "I'll leave then."

Cecilia nodded. Lily gave a polite smile to Alaric and Cassius before leaving with her manager.

"Lily?" Cassius murmured, watching her leave. His tone was meaningful.
