Chapter 157 Arranging Work

In the conference room, Vincent looked grim, still in shock. This was his meeting, so how did Cecilia take control?

Before Michael could speak, Cecilia said, "Mr. Lockhart, let's not waste time with managers not involved in key performance indicators. It affects their work."

Vincent's face darkened, but he stayed silent. Forcing them to attend was a waste of time anyway.

Cecilia took his silence as agreement and dismissed the managers and directors not involved, letting Michael report on the Tower of Light project.

After the report, Cecilia asked, "Mr. Lockhart, any suggestions?"

Vincent was stumped. He held these meetings to enjoy having work reported to him and to criticize poor performance, not to manage details. Now, Cecilia's question left him embarrassed.

The room fell silent, everyone waiting for Vincent's response. The atmosphere grew tense.

Finally, Vincent spoke angrily, "This is your sales department's job. Why are you asking me? You earn high salaries but can't solve problems? Should I take your salary too?"

Cecilia sneered, knowing Vincent had no real skills. He focused on dealing with Theodore, not learning business.

She said, "We wanted to solve project issues, but the Vice President took our time. I thought he had guidance to share. Otherwise, what's the point of this meeting?"

"Cecilia, that's enough," Vincent snapped.

"I'm just doing my job and discussing it with you. Why are you so angry?" Cecilia replied.

Vincent was furious but couldn't respond. The atmosphere grew awkward again. He wanted to strangle Cecilia for always embarrassing him.

He stood up, everyone watching. "Cecilia, you just joined and don't understand anything. I don't want to argue and have your father think I'm bullying you. Focus on your short board indicators. Remember, the company values performance, not arguments. Show results!"

"Sure," Cecilia said, suddenly respectful.

Vincent looked at her and wanted to slap her.

Vincent stormed out of the conference room, slamming the door behind him. Cecilia watched him leave and sneered. He probably wouldn't call a meeting with the sales department anytime soon.

Turning to the remaining managers and directors, she said, "I'll keep meetings short to give you more work time. Michael, stay behind. The rest of you are dismissed."

"Yes," they replied, leaving with visible relief. Shorter meetings meant more time for actual work.

Once everyone else had left, Cecilia told Michael, "I planned to discuss the project's work this afternoon, but let's go over it now. You can start making arrangements, and we'll finalize things later."

"Got it," Michael nodded.

Cecilia shared her ideas with Michael, and they hashed out a preliminary plan.

At 2 PM, Cecilia called a meeting with everyone involved in the Tower of Light project.

"As usual, let's keep it short—no more than half an hour. Rose, keep track of the time," Cecilia said, always direct and to the point.

Her decisive style was well-appreciated. Her meetings were focused, and missing even a second could mean missing something important.

Cecilia began, "I inspected the Tower of Light yesterday. The issues are exactly what Michael mentioned: no subway station, luxury brands not moving in, and high rent. We need to tackle these one by one. First, the subway station cancellation isn't a big deal. Our mall is high-end, and those customers don't typically use the subway. So, we can ignore that. The real issue is attracting businesses."

"The main reason businesses aren't coming is they're worried about sales. We need to help them sell their products and boost our mall's sales. That's our focus today."

Everyone listened closely.

Cecilia continued, "I've got some marketing strategies, but I need your input. First, we need to create buzz for the mall. After the initial promotion, we haven't done much. Businesses don't see the mall's value, so they won't move in. We need to invest in advertising. Second, we should target three to five luxury brands, offer them rent reductions, or sign agreements to attract them. Their presence will draw other businesses. Third, let's use e-commerce platforms to attract traffic, turning the Tower of Light into a large e-commerce market, providing a convenient shopping channel for high-end customers."
