Chapter 222 Seraphina's Compromise
In the ward, Seraphina whimpered, sobbing over Dashiell's body. She wished he would just compromise, be like he used to be, and let her handle everything. She couldn't understand why he had changed so suddenly, just like Cecilia. But no matter how much Cecilia changed, she still loved and treated Seraphina the best. Why did Dashiell have to become so heartless?
"From childhood till now, you always gave me everything, never forced me to do anything. Whatever I said mattered," Seraphina said, feeling miserable. "So now I say, I'll treat you like a brother. Drop your feelings for me and let me be with Sebastian, okay?"
"I can agree to anything but this," Dashiell replied in a strange tone.
Seraphina thought, 'Why has Dashiell become so insensitive?'
She lifted her head from Dashiell's neck, tears still flowing and falling onto his face. "Dashiell, what's the point of marrying a woman who doesn't love you?"
"As long as I love you, it's enough," Dashiell replied.
"What exactly do you love about me? I'll change it," Seraphina said, breaking down. She had a bad temper and wasn't particularly beautiful. What did he like about her? She even thought she could never be loved by anyone.
What exactly did Dashiell like about her? Her figure? She had a body that could satisfy a man's desires. If that was it, she could make herself unattractive.
Dashiell didn't answer. It seemed nothing she said would help. He wouldn't listen anymore. Seraphina got off Dashiell and scrambled up. As she left, Dashiell seemed slightly relieved.
Seraphina looked down, putting her clothes back on. "Dashiell, I don't know why you have to marry me. I don't know what I can say to change your mind. I'm just telling you, marrying me will never bring you happiness, never!" she almost shouted.
Dashiell silently endured her anger. He knew very well that Seraphina hated him. It had gone from words to true hatred in her heart.
Seraphina left Dashiell's ward and stood outside Atticus's ward. She knew once she pushed that door open, everything would be a done deal. She couldn't stop it from happening. Since everyone wanted her to marry, she would let them know that marrying Dashiell was a huge mistake.
Inside the ward, Magnolia was by Atticus's side, her eyes red and swollen. It was unclear whether she was heartbroken over Dashiell or Atticus. In just one day, Magnolia seemed to have aged ten years.
Magnolia was surprised to see Seraphina suddenly appear. Atticus was also surprised, thinking she would never come to see him.
Magnolia said, "Don't irritate your father. The doctor said..."
"I'll do as you wish," Seraphina suddenly said.
Magnolia and Atticus were stunned.
"Go to Dashiell's room. We'll discuss the marriage terms," Seraphina said coldly. "Bring the lawyer."
"You're not lying to us?" Magnolia asked.
Seraphina sneered, "The one who will suffer the most from this marriage won't be me!" In other words, she would make Dashiell suffer more.
Seraphina left the room first, gritting her teeth as she pushed open Dashiell's door again. Dashiell looked puzzled; he hadn't expected her to come back. This time, Seraphina said nothing and just sat on the sofa, waiting.
After a while, Magnolia helped Atticus into the room. They also sat on the sofa without saying a word until the Everhart family's private lawyer, Hugh Winters, appeared. Dashiell roughly knew what Seraphina was going to do.
"Mr. Winters, please take note of what I'm about to say. It all needs to be legally notarized," Seraphina said directly.
"Yes, Ms. Everhart," Hugh quickly agreed.
"I agree to marry Dashiell," Seraphina said plainly. Everyone, including Dashiell, remained silent.
"But I have five conditions," Seraphina continued. "First, you two must divorce."
"Okay, we've already signed the divorce papers. It's just a matter of submitting them to the court..."
"I mean, you leave with nothing," Seraphina interrupted Magnolia coldly. "You can't take a single cent of the Everhart family's money!"
Magnolia didn't hesitate, "Okay."
"I need to see your divorce certificate by the end of today."
"Okay," Magnolia agreed immediately.
"Second, after the divorce, you can't live in the Everhart Mansion anymore, and you can't have any contact with Atticus."
Magnolia hesitated for a moment but then nodded, "Okay."
"Third, after the marriage, Dashiell and I will live alone. None of you can interfere in our lives or force us to have children. I will never have children with Dashiell!"
"Seraphina..." Magnolia's face clearly changed. She could accept Seraphina's revenge on her, but she couldn't stand Seraphina hurting Dashiell like this.
"Okay," Dashiell agreed.
Seraphina glanced at Dashiell. She wouldn't be moved. She would never be moved by Dashiell again.
"Fourth, since Sebastian and I broke up, I must pay him a breakup fee as compensation," Seraphina said directly.
Atticus was about to speak when Dashiell interrupted him, "Go on."
Atticus swallowed his words.
"Pay Sebastian three million dollars as a breakup fee and buy the house he's currently living in under his name," Seraphina said. Sebastian's current house was rented, and he had refused when she wanted to buy him a house. "This is what you owe him."
"Okay," Dashiell agreed without hesitation.
Seraphina smiled. 'Of course, it is the Everhart family's money. Why would Dashiell care?'
"Fifth, the wedding date for Dashiell and me will be the same as the date I was supposed to marry Sebastian." That is, this Saturday. Better to get the pain over with rather than prolong the agony.
Seraphina didn't want to dwell on it any longer. She was afraid it would drive her to her death!
