Chapter 818 Sending Her Home
"Isn't it all the same?" Magnolia suddenly said.
Dashiell pressed his lips together, not arguing back.
Magnolia looked at Dashiell and gave a faint smile.
Actually, she had invited Dashiell and Seraphina to dinner today to tell Dashiell that the past was over, and she didn't oppose them starting over.
But seeing the distance between the two, she began to doubt if there was any possibility between them, especially since Seraphina's attitude towards Dashiell was clearly different.
Seeing Dashiell's reaction at this moment, she probably understood a bit more.
"It's not the same, not the same," Seraphina quickly said.
She wasn't having a child with Dashiell, how could it be the same?
Did Magnolia think that taking care of one child was the same as taking care of two?
Magnolia glanced at Seraphina.
If Seraphina had half of Cecilia's intelligence, her life wouldn't be like this.
Magnolia was about to make things clear.
"Mom," Dashiell interrupted her.
Magnolia looked at Dashiell.
"Thank you for taking care of Atticus during this time. Eat more," Dashiell said calmly.
Magnolia pressed her lips together.
She wasn't the type to interfere in the younger generation's relationships.
She had opposed him and Seraphina before because she thought Seraphina wasn't worth Dashiell's effort. Now that Seraphina had clearly changed, she naturally didn't oppose them anymore.
"Yes, thank you for taking care of my dad during this time," Seraphina quickly echoed, "I toast to you."
She picked up the wine glass beside her and offered a toast to Magnolia.
Magnolia glanced at Seraphina but didn't refuse.
Seraphina drank.
She had a big internal struggle.
She really didn't know when she started being so cautious around Dashiell.
Even a look from Dashiell could scare her.
She mustered the courage to raise her glass, "Mr. Montgomery, I toast to you."
Dashiell was elegantly eating his steak.
Seraphina said, "I'm not very smart, and I've caused you a lot of trouble at the company. I know you're not satisfied with my work. I'm really grateful for your tolerance, allowing me to continue working at Everhart Bank. I don't know what else to say, so I toast to you. I promise to work harder in the future."
Dashiell looked at Seraphina.
Just looked at her.
Seraphina felt a bit guilty under his gaze.
Did she do something to offend him?
What she just said shouldn't have offended him, right?
As Seraphina's mind was filled with tension and anxiety.
Dashiell said lightly, "I don't drink."
How embarrassing.
Although Dashiell wasn't good with alcohol.
But such a small amount, just a sip, he didn't have to be so heartless.
She felt she must look really stupid now.
She trembled and smiled, "Alright, then you eat more meat, I'll drink alone."
Saying that.
Seraphina drank the wine in her glass.
At that moment.
She didn't notice that Dashiell had already put down his knife and fork and reached for the lemon water beside him.
He saw Seraphina finish her drink and put down her glass.
Then he made no further moves.
Magnolia watched the interaction between the two, annoyed.
After dinner.
The three of them walked out of the restaurant together.
"How are you getting home?" Magnolia asked Seraphina.
"I'm going back," Seraphina replied, "I drove, I'll go back by myself. You don't need to worry about me."
Just as Magnolia was about to nod.
She heard Dashiell say, "You just drank."
Seraphina was stunned.
Then she said indifferently, "Just a glass of wine, I'm not drunk. Even if they check for drunk driving, they won't find anything."
"Are you sure?" Dashiell asked Seraphina.
Seraphina wasn't sure.
"So if you get caught for drunk driving, you'll need me to do your work again, right?"
Seraphina was speechless at Dashiell's words.
Why was Dashiell so mean?
Why were his words so harsh?
She had her pride too, being scolded by him so often.
"I'll take you," Dashiell suddenly said.
Seraphina's extremely low mood suddenly reversed.
She didn't hear wrong, did she?
Dashiell said he'd take her?
He wasn't joking, was he?
"It's on the way," Dashiell said, leaving her with that and getting into the luxury car the restaurant valet had brought over.
Seraphina looked at the black car, then at Magnolia.
She slowly walked to the car, ready to open the back seat.
"Sit in the front," Magnolia suddenly called out to her.
Seraphina was stunned.
"Do you want me to sit in the bodyguard's seat?" Magnolia raised an eyebrow.
Magnolia, Seraphina was still very grateful to her.
Magnolia always managed to make her so angry.
Seraphina had to sit in the front passenger seat.
She didn't dare look at Dashiell.
Afraid he'd be in a bad mood and make her sit in the back.
Being with Dashiell was really awkward.
Fortunately, Dashiell didn't say anything.
He drove Magnolia home first.
Magnolia lived alone now, and Seraphina couldn't help but ask, "Do you want to move back to The Everhart Mansion and live with me?"
She had moved back to The Everhart Mansion.
Such a big place, besides the servants, she was the only one living there.
She had wanted to ask Magnolia to move back several times but couldn't bring herself to say it.
"No," Magnolia refused.
Seraphina knew she would refuse.
"Maybe next month, I don't want to go through the hassle of moving this month," Magnolia added.
Seraphina turned to look at her, "So you'll move back next month, right?"
Clearly a bit excited.
Magnolia sometimes thought Seraphina was hopeless, but sometimes she really cherished Seraphina's innocence, untouched by society, making it hard for her to refuse. She replied, "Yes."
"Then at the beginning of next month, I'll have the servants help you move, and I'll get your room ready in advance," Seraphina said enthusiastically.
"Okay," Magnolia nodded.
Seraphina was really happy.
She thought that when Atticus woke up, he would be very happy that she had tricked Magnolia into coming back home.
Atticus liked Magnolia so much!
But.
When would Atticus wake up?
Seraphina suppressed her emotions, trying not to show them.
After Dashiell dropped Magnolia off, he drove Seraphina to The Everhart Mansion.
If Dashiell still lived in his old place, it really wouldn't be on the way at all.
Of course, the current Seraphina was too timid to ask anything, and she didn't dare to expect anything.
Being alone with Dashiell in a confined space made her so nervous that her heart was racing.
She simply closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.
At least she looked calm.
Dashiell looked at Seraphina and swallowed the words he was about to say.
The car was very quiet.
Dashiell quietly drove Seraphina home.
