Chapter 238 Was Your Mouth Bitten by a Male Mosquito?
Dominic and Penelope leaving didn't really change the vibe of the feast.
The others at the table actually felt a bit relieved.
They were worried about getting caught in the drama.
But they had to give it to Cecilia.
She turned a minor issue into a big scene, making Penelope look bad and catching her red-handed.
Now, Penelope would probably avoid Cecilia at all costs!
She wouldn't dare argue anymore!
Just then, Dashiell and Seraphina came over to toast.
Dashiell was in a wheelchair, and Seraphina stood tall.
She didn't adjust to Dashiell's height, but he didn't mind.
He tried to raise his glass as high as he could to toast with everyone.
"Congrats," Cecilia said, clinking glasses with Dashiell.
Alaric, next to her, wasn't happy.
He also clinked glasses with Dashiell, but a bit too forcefully.
The glasses clinked loudly, almost breaking.
Dashiell felt unfairly blamed.
He hadn't done anything wrong.
Everyone at the table congratulated and drank with Dashiell and Seraphina.
"Where's Penelope?" Seraphina asked, frowning.
She had set up this table herself.
She wanted Dominic to sit with Cecilia and Alaric, hoping to make him furious.
'Serves him right for cheating,' she thought.
She wanted him to see how happy Cecilia was with Alaric.
But Penelope and Dominic was missing.
All her plans were wasted.
"They left," Cecilia said bluntly.
"Left? Dashiell's still here, and Penelope left?" Seraphina had no filter sometimes, but it wasn't on purpose.
It was because she just caught them kissing in Dashiell's room.
Knowing Penelope, she wouldn't leave even if she felt terrible.
Her motto was, if she's unhappy, everyone else should be too.
Seraphina was even hoping Penelope would cause some trouble.
If Penelope tried to crash the wedding, Seraphina would step aside and enjoy the show.
Just thinking about it made her happy.
How could Penelope just leave like that?
Cecilia glared at Seraphina, then glanced at Dashiell.
Dashiell smiled, trying to tolerate everything.
"Seraphina," Cecilia couldn't take it anymore and called out.
Seraphina didn't get why Cecilia was defending Dashiell more and more.
Weren't they always on the same side?
Weren't they best friends?
Seraphina felt betrayed.
Her piercing gaze said it all.
"Hurry up and toast. Dashiell hasn't fully recovered yet. Finish the ceremony, eat something, and rest this afternoon," Cecilia urged.
Seraphina was reluctant and was going to leave, but she suddenly asked, "Cecilia, why are your lips swollen?"
Cecilia felt embarrassed and pursed her lips.
'Is it that obvious?' she thought.
She had felt some pain and heat earlier, but now it was better.
"Could it be..." Seraphina dragged out her words, "a mosquito bite?"
Cecilia couldn't help but laugh.
She wasn't sure if Seraphina was giving her an out or just teasing Alaric.
Cecilia said, "A long-legged mosquito in the back garden."
"I bet it was a male," Seraphina said seriously, "and a particularly lecherous one..."
Cecilia blushed at Seraphina's words.
Next to her, Alaric's face darkened.
Seraphina wanted to say more, but her hand was suddenly grabbed tightly.
She looked down at Dashiell in the wheelchair, who was holding her hand.
"Let's go," Dashiell said, pulling Seraphina.
She instinctively wanted to shake him off, but with so many people around, she gritted her teeth and followed him.
Dashiell had staff helping him with the wheelchair the whole time.
As they left the table, the tables were spaced out.
Because there were few tables and the banquet hall was large, it seemed a bit empty.
Once they were a bit away, Seraphina shook off Dashiell.
Dashiell didn't show any emotion, not even awkwardness.
He explained, "Don't provoke Alaric."
"Why?" Seraphina demanded.
"Just don't provoke him."
Seraphina rolled her eyes, not taking his words to heart.
They just toasted table after table.
After toasting, Dashiell and Seraphina returned to the banquet, but neither had much appetite. They ate a little, and Dashiell soon left the hall.
Seraphina left a bit later. She wasn't interested in socializing, so she went straight to her room in the resort to rest.
When the staff led her into a room, Seraphina's face changed.
Did she say she wanted to share a room with Dashiell?
She was about to turn and leave.
"Seraphina!" Magnolia called out coldly.
Seraphina turned to look at her.
"Where are you going? This is your room!" Magnolia said.
"I don't want to share a room with Dashiell!"
"Then why did you get married?"
"Wasn't I forced by you?" Seraphina was furious.
Didn't they know why she married Dashiell?
"You could have resisted," Magnolia said slowly.
Seraphina was about to explode.
Hadn't she resisted?
Could she have resisted?
"If you can't resist, then accept it."
"I..."
"Come in and take care of Dashiell!" Magnolia interrupted.
"Why should I?" Seraphina threw a tantrum.
All these years, this was the first time she had argued with Magnolia.
When Magnolia was with Atticus, she would deliberately not argue with her.
Now that Magnolia didn't need to please Atticus, was she showing her true colors?
"Because you're married, and you caused Dashiell to be like this! He even collapsed today because of the wedding you wanted. Can't you see that?" Magnolia snapped.
Seraphina bit her lip.
At this moment, she saw that Dashiell was already asleep.
Her anger seemed to diminish a bit.
Seraphina's voice softened, "Didn't he agree to it himself?"
"Did I blame you? I'm just asking you to take care of him. Is that a problem?" Magnolia asked.
"Aren't you taking care of him?"
"Now I don't want to care anymore."
Seraphina was speechless.
At that moment, Magnolia really did leave her side.
As she closed the door, she left a parting shot, "Take good care of him, or you'll experience what a real evil mother-in-law is like!"
