Chapter 813 Boy or Girl?
"Get off work early," Dashiell said bluntly, watching Seraphina resume her work.
"I still have some things to finish. I'll leave once I'm done," Seraphina replied without even looking up at them.
She really didn't want to look.
In her heart, she was even praying for Natalia and Dashiell to leave quickly, just leave quickly.
Natalia also spoke, her voice still incredibly gentle, "Mr. Montgomery, let's not disturb Ms. Everhart's work."
Dashiell pressed his lips together and said no more, leaving with Natalia.
As they left, Seraphina couldn't help but glance at their backs.
She saw Natalia's swaying figure seemingly intentionally close to Dashiell.
Seraphina averted her gaze.
Forget it, don't look.
It only makes the heart ache.
She turned her eyes back to the computer screen.
As she looked, everything became blurry.
The mistakes she made years ago, she deserved this pain now.
Outside the office.
Natalia followed behind Dashiell.
The two of them entered the elevator.
Dashiell said, "In the future, any documents that need my signature can wait until I'm back in the office. There's no need to come find me separately."
Natalia looked a bit stunned, then quickly nodded, "Yes. I'll be more careful in the future. But the finance department was in a bit of a hurry with this document, and I was afraid it would delay their work, so I came to find you. I'm really sorry for disturbing you."
She looked extremely remorseful.
The harsh words Dashiell was about to say were swallowed back.
"I've only been working here for half a month, and there are still many rules I don't understand. I'm sorry, Mr. Montgomery." As she spoke, Natalia's eyes seemed to redden.
"Just be more careful next time, no need to worry too much," Dashiell said, his voice softening a bit.
"I will definitely be more careful," Natalia promised.
Dashiell said no more.
The elevator arrived, and Dashiell stepped out first.
Natalia watched Dashiell's back, her face clearly looking much worse.
Getting Dashiell to sign was, of course, intentional.
After working at Everhart Bank for half a month, Natalia had basically fully understood the relationship between Seraphina and Dashiell.
She used to think that once they were divorced, they were divorced. She didn't expect them to still have lingering feelings. How could she let Seraphina and Dashiell reconcile?
She had fallen in love with Dashiell at first sight. She always had high standards for a partner. During her school years, countless people pursued her, but she never took them seriously.
But the first time she saw Dashiell that night, she knew he was her destined one.
His appearance matched all her aesthetics, handsome and elegant, plus his own abilities and all the wealth he now possessed. So perfect, Dashiell had to belong to her.
In fact, she joined Everhart Bank to get close to Dashiell. She had already passed the written exam for the State Office recruitment, but she changed her mind at the last minute during the interview. Landon initially disagreed with her decision, but later compromised because of Dashiell.
Dashiell was the type who not only attracted the attention of his peers, making it easy for them to like him, but also won the favor of elders.
In Natalia's view, Dashiell was the best husband candidate.
But things didn't go as she imagined.
After half a month of interaction, she suddenly felt that Dashiell still had feelings for Seraphina.
Every time he seemed to scold Seraphina, it was as if he was helping her. Today too, he called Seraphina back to criticize her, but it seemed he was just saying that Seraphina's sudden departure made him unhappy, rather than criticizing her for being careless at work.
After figuring out a lot, Natalia became unsettled.
Now Seraphina and Dashiell were not together yet. After deeply understanding the love-hate relationship between Seraphina and Dashiell, she knew they couldn't easily eliminate their barriers and get back together.
But love is something that can easily make people impulsive. If either of them mustered a bit of courage, they might reconcile. She absolutely couldn't let that happen.
Her eyes tightened.
Dashiell, she was determined to have him!
Green Valley Medical Center.
Cecilia suddenly noticed her belly had grown bigger.
Is this the time when the baby grows the fastest?
She touched her belly while undergoing a prenatal checkup.
Alaric said he would give her some freedom, but every time she went out, many people still followed her.
She lay on a comfortable bed as the doctor performed an ultrasound.
"Is the baby a boy or a girl?" Cecilia suddenly asked.
The doctor paused.
The regulations in the United States prohibit revealing the baby's gender.
Of course, sometimes they would tell in private, but only to very familiar people.
Cecilia's sudden question left the doctor unsure how to respond.
After all.
Not saying would clearly be disrespectful to Cecilia. Given her current status, no one dared to offend her.
But saying it might be a deliberate test by Cecilia to see if he would violate the regulations.
In the doctor's dilemma.
Cecilia said, "Forget it, let it be."
She hadn't thought about whether the baby was a boy or a girl for a long time.
It was just that Seraphina asked her last time, and she had been a bit conflicted since then.
But she didn't want to make things difficult for the doctor.
Or rather, what difference does it make if it's a boy or a girl?
The result would be the same.
The doctor didn't know if he had offended Cecilia, but he was sweating throughout the entire checkup.
Cecilia could feel the doctor's nervousness.
She really wanted to tell the doctor that there was no need to be so nervous around her. She wasn't as high-status as they thought.
But since Alaric hadn't announced their divorce, she couldn't go around saying it.
Everything was in Alaric's hands now.
She had no control.
After the checkup.
Cecilia sat in the car, looking at the baby's normal indicators, reading them all the way.
At the same time.
The prenatal checkup report was immediately sent to Alaric's phone.
Alaric was still abroad, engaged in a friendly interview.
When the message alert sounded.
He picked up his phone and glanced at it.
After a look, his eyes paused.
The conversations around him seemed to fade away.
"Alaric," Juniper called him.
Alaric calmly put his phone down.
In such an important international interview, it was inappropriate to be distracted.
He joined the discussion.
Juniper, however, glanced at Alaric's phone, seeing a prenatal checkup report on the still-lit screen.
It was clearly Cecilia's prenatal checkup report.
Juniper's expression didn't change, but emotions stirred inside.
No matter when, no matter how important the occasion, Cecilia could always distract Alaric.
How important was Cecilia to Alaric!
