Chapter 447 Dashiell Joined Everhart Bank

After Seraphina scarfed down her breakfast, her secretary dumped a mountain of financial data on her desk.

Staring at the thick stack of papers, Seraphina felt like she was drowning.

What the heck was this?

"Mr. Everhart said you should dive into this to get a grip on the financials. I'll be here to help you out. If you have any questions, Ms. Everhart, just holler. I majored in finance," the secretary said, all polite and stuff.

Seraphina was speechless.

First day on the job, and she was already feeling the heat.

She had hoped to chill with some coffee and maybe sneak in a game or two.

Seraphina nodded half-heartedly. She grabbed a document and started skimming.

It was all numbers.

She couldn't make heads or tails of it.

Around ten in the morning, Seraphina got a ping about a mid-to-senior level management meeting.

Seraphina actually hated meetings the most.

They never got to the point, just a lot of blah blah blah.

She dragged herself to the big conference room and plopped down in a corner, trying to stay out of the spotlight.

In the center were the big shots and shareholders.

Atticus sat smack in the middle.

Once everyone was there, Atticus started talking, "We're having an emergency meeting today, but there's nothing major."

'If there's nothing major, why are we even here?' Seraphina grumbled in her head.

"The main point is the division of responsibilities and new appointments for a senior executive. The Everhart Bank has always needed an assistant general manager. I’m the chairman and general manager, and we have a deputy general manager, but the deputy can't juggle all these departments. So, I've appointed an assistant general manager to handle group business and lighten the deputy's load."

Everyone was all ears, no one objected.

Yeah, the company needed an assistant general manager, but they hadn't found the right person, so it got delayed, which kinda messed with operations. Appointing an assistant general manager would clear things up, which was obviously better.

Plus, everyone knew this gig was for Sebastian.

Everyone knew Sebastian was killing it at the company, and Atticus had high hopes for him, especially after Sebastian and Seraphina split. Out of guilt, Atticus treated Sebastian even better.

So, this position was obviously Sebastian's.

Sebastian thought so too.

He'd been waiting for this day forever.

Atticus had hinted at it multiple times, saying when the time was right, he'd promote him. This was not only to recognize his work but also to ease some guilt.

Sebastian sat up straight, ready to be named on the spot.

He hid his excitement well.

After all these years, he had mastered the art of staying cool.

Atticus said, "I've already decided on the candidate for the assistant general manager. He is..."

Even though they knew it was Sebastian, everyone still held their breath for the reveal.

"Dashiell!"

This name shocked everyone.

Sebastian didn't react for a second.

He thought he must've misheard or Atticus had a brain fart and called the wrong name.

After all, Dashiell had been hanging around Atticus so much, a slip-up was possible.

In that moment of blankness, he saw the conference room door swing open.

Dashiell strutted in, all suited up.

He walked with a cane, the sound of it hitting the floor was sharp.

Though he had a bit of a limp, he carried himself with a strong presence, not at all like some nervous newbie.

Instead, he was oozing confidence.

Everyone was buzzing.

Who the heck was Dashiell?

How did he just waltz into such a high position?

Those who knew a bit about Atticus's family knew Dashiell was his adopted son and son-in-law.

Given that connection, putting Dashiell in this spot made sense.

But it was so sudden, it was hard to swallow, especially for Sebastian.

Sebastian had busted his butt at the company for years.

He thought he was up for a promotion, only to get blindsided.

For a moment, everyone shifted their gaze from Dashiell to Sebastian.

There was a bit of sympathy.

And Sebastian, from a young age, couldn't stand those pitying looks.

As a kid, he was beaten by his foster parents, later bullied in the orphanage, and he couldn't stand the pitying looks from others.

He pressed his lips tightly, showing no emotion.

At this moment, Dashiell had already walked up to Atticus.

Atticus stood up from his seat, patted Dashiell on the shoulder, clearly having high hopes for him. He said, "Dashiell, say a few words."

Dashiell nodded.

He looked at everyone in front of him, his gaze briefly passing over Seraphina, who was stunned.

Seraphina had zero interest in this kind of meeting.

But seeing Dashiell here, she was shocked.

Atticus must be out of his mind.

Dashiell said confidently, "Hey everyone, I'm Dashiell, 23 years old. It's my first time at the company. I'm eager to learn and contribute, and I appreciate any guidance you can offer. I'll get up to speed fast and bring some serious results. Thanks, everyone."

After speaking, he bowed deeply.

His brief speech showed his attitude towards work and his confidence in it.

Although everyone was still in shock, out of courtesy, some people started clapping.

Gradually, everyone in the conference room was clapping, except for Sebastian and Seraphina.

Anyway, Dashiell's appearance made everything feel a bit absurd.

The meeting was really short.

After announcing Dashiell's position, it was adjourned.

Dashiell left the office with Atticus, without any interaction with Seraphina throughout the entire process.

Seraphina even felt that Dashiell didn't look at her once.

Everyone left the conference room, except for Seraphina and Sebastian.

Sebastian, suppressing his displeasure, walked towards Seraphina and said, "Seraphina, let's go."

Seraphina seemed to snap back to reality at that moment. She asked Sebastian, "What's going on with Dashiell? Why is he here?"

"You should ask Atticus," Sebastian said calmly.

"Damn!" Seraphina cursed.

The next second, she rushed out of the conference room.

She needed to find out what Atticus was up to.

After she divorced Dashiell, why he still brought Dashiell into the company to cause trouble for her?
