Chapter 401 The Uncontrollable Feelings
Seraphina was totally zoned into her game, straight-up ignoring Dashiell.
Then, outta nowhere, a spoonful of oatmeal popped up in front of her face, blocking her view of the screen.
She got a bit ticked off, saying, "Dashiell, you're messing up my game."
"I'll move once you eat," Dashiell shot back.
Seraphina was like, seriously?
She opened her mouth and took a bite.
The oatmeal wasn't as gross as she thought it'd be, kinda soft and sticky.
Dashiell was watching her like a hawk. Seeing she didn't gag, he scooped up another spoonful and held it out.
Seraphina wasn't sure if it was hunger or the game that had her distracted, but she didn't feel sick eating. Actually, she wanted more. So every time Dashiell fed her, she just opened her mouth and ate.
She was digging the food and finished the whole bowl of oatmeal.
Still glued to her game, Seraphina instinctively opened her mouth again.
When no more oatmeal came her way, she frowned and glanced over.
Seeing Dashiell with an empty bowl, ready to roll out, she licked her lips.
"I could eat a bit more," she said.
Dashiell paused in his wheelchair.
"Okay," he said softly.
"It's not me, it's the baby who wants to eat!" Seraphina quickly added.
Dashiell just smiled.
With that, she calmed down.
After all, she was still gaming.
A bit later, Dashiell came back with another bowl of oatmeal and fed her the same way.
Dashiell kept bringing in oatmeal and feeding her, and Seraphina ate without a fuss, finishing two full bowls for the first time since she got pregnant.
Afterwards, Seraphina even let out a burp.
For the first time, she felt super satisfied.
Before, she always forced herself to eat, scared the baby would make her feel awful.
This time, she ate eagerly and willingly.
"Want more?" Dashiell asked.
"I'm good," Seraphina replied.
Feeling pretty great, Seraphina's tone towards Dashiell was way softer.
Dashiell nodded slightly. He grabbed a napkin and gently wiped her lips.
Seraphina didn't mind and even grinned.
She had just won her game against all odds, feeling a huge sense of achievement.
When she put down her phone, she noticed Dashiell carefully wiping her lips.
Her eyes shifted slightly, watching Dashiell's serious expression.
She noticed his long eyelashes and deep eyes.
At that moment, Dashiell made her heart skip a beat.
Seraphina stared at Dashiell, like she was frozen.
Dashiell seemed to notice her gaze.
He looked up, meeting her eyes.
Sometimes, just a look, an ambiguous look, could stir up a lot of feelings.
In short, they couldn't help themselves.
So at that moment, Dashiell's lips moved closer to Seraphina's.
Seraphina's fingers gripped her phone tightly, but she didn't pull away.
Her eyes stayed on Dashiell's lips, suddenly finding them incredibly sexy, red and glossy, making her want to bite them.
She clearly swallowed.
The next second, she felt those sexy lips on hers, and it was a whole vibe.
Dashiell lingered on Seraphina's lips for a moment.
Then, he tried to deepen the kiss...
"Dashiell..." The door suddenly swung open.
Seraphina and Dashiell froze.
Seraphina quickly shoved Dashiell away.
Dashiell, who was perched on the edge of the bed, toppled over and hit the ground with a thud.
Seraphina was freaked out.
She didn't mean to push him that hard.
She was just scared.
Magnolia at the door was also stunned.
She didn't expect to walk in on this scene when she came looking for Dashiell.
She thought Seraphina hated Dashiell. How could she be kissing him?
Well, they did have a kid together.
Naturally, there'd be some intimacy between a married couple.
Seeing Dashiell fall, Magnolia didn't feel sorry for him. She quickly said, "You guys carry on. I just needed Dashiell to help with my computer. It's cool, I can wait till tomorrow."
With that, she shut the door with a bang.
Seraphina looked at the door, feeling super awkward.
Dashiell, on the floor, was also a bit embarrassed. He slowly got up.
Seraphina noticed Dashiell's movements, thinking he might have trouble getting up with his injured legs. She was about to help him when she saw him support himself with one leg and stand up with difficulty.
Seraphina was surprised, asking, "Your leg's healed?"
She knew Dashiell often went to the hospital for rehab, but he always came back in a wheelchair, so she didn't realize his right leg could support him.
"Yeah, this leg's pretty much good to go." Dashiell nodded.
"What about the other leg?" Seraphina asked excitedly.
"No feeling yet."
"No feeling at all?" Seraphina's face showed obvious disappointment.
Dashiell nodded.
"Did the doc say there's a chance of recovery?" Seraphina asked.
Dashiell fell silent.
Seraphina sighed.
If Dashiell never recovered, how could she divorce him?
Dashiell could see Seraphina's thoughts.
She just wanted him to get better quickly so she could leave him.
His silence wasn't because he couldn't recover.
In fact, the doc said there was a good chance. Deep electrical stimulation had shown nerve responses, and it shouldn't be long before he had noticeable feeling.
"I'll take the dishes out," Dashiell said, sitting back in his wheelchair and picking up the dishes Seraphina had used.
Seraphina watched Dashiell's back, still thinking about the kiss.
She quickly said, "Dashiell, don't read too much into what just happened."
Dashiell paused in his wheelchair.
"Don't overthink it. I was just acting on a moment of attraction. After all, you look pretty good. You know what I mean?" Seraphina tried to explain why she didn't push him away.
Dashiell responded with a faint tone.
It seemed like Dashiell didn't care much.
It was like talking to a wall.
Seraphina felt frustrated.
Clearly, he started it. Why was he so chill?
