Chapter 522 Outburst (15) A Moment of Despair

Cecilia shot Dominic a frosty glare.

Dominic was always pushing her buttons, testing her limits.

He'd use any dirty trick to get what he wanted.

Cecilia bit her lip, wishing she could just end him right then and there.

How many more crimes was he planning to pin on Alaric?

She couldn't stand his lies about Alaric!

Dominic sneered at her. She hadn't completely lost it yet, but he could see the anger in her bloodshot eyes and the way her body shook from holding back. It had been a while since he felt this pumped!

Thinking about how Cecilia used to throw her weight around in front of him, all the times she humiliated and insulted him, he felt a rush of satisfaction.

But this was just the start; he wasn't done yet.

First, he'd deal with Alaric. Then, he'd come for Cecilia.

After that, he'd team up with the Monroe Family to take down the other big families in Serenovia City and finally be on top!

Everyone would treat him with the utmost respect!

Dominic laughed like a maniac.

He was so pleased with himself, he couldn't even hide it.

"Cecilia, I really feel sorry for you," he said.

Cecilia's eyes narrowed.

Dominic stepped closer, stopping just a step away.

Augustus saw him coming and was about to lose it.

Cecilia signaled Augustus to stay put. He stood there, face tight, glaring at Dominic.

Dominic noticed the little exchange between Cecilia and Augustus. He smirked and suddenly lifted Cecilia's chin.

It was a clear insult.

Augustus couldn't take it.

"Augustus!" Cecilia called out.

Augustus held back, veins popping.

Alaric had told him to protect Cecilia no matter what.

If anything happened to her, he wouldn't be able to live with himself.

Dominic laughed again.

Seeing Cecilia hold herself back in front of him, he mocked, "Why'd you stop him?"

Cecilia stared him down, shouting, "Let go!"

"And if I don't, what are you gonna do?" Dominic laughed.

Cecilia sneered, "If you don't, there's nothing you can do to me either!"

Dominic's face darkened a bit.

Even now, Cecilia was staying cool.

"Do you dare to do anything to me?" Cecilia pressed, "With your wedding to Lyra coming up, do you dare?"

Dominic's eyes flashed with anger, and he let go of her chin.

He didn't dare.

He just wanted to humiliate her and provoke Augustus, hoping Augustus would hit him so he could have a reason to lock him up.

He wanted to chip away at Cecilia's support, starting with Cassius, then Augustus, and eventually everyone who stood by her.

Cecilia could see through Dominic's plan.

So no matter what he did, she'd endure it.

And she knew he wouldn't have the guts to go too far.

He was about to get hitched and couldn't afford any scandals. For Dominic, keeping the Monroe Family happy was his top priority right now, and he wasn't about to take any chances.

His whole game was to push her or Augustus into doing something rash so he could lock them up.

Once they were out of the picture, no one would be able to clear Alaric's name.

Dominic suddenly turned and walked away.

It was like he couldn't stand to look at Cecilia for another second.

But really, it was because she saw right through his act, and it ticked him off.

He acted like he didn't care, but it was all a front.

As he left, he barked, "Alaric is suspected of serious crimes. No visits without proper procedures!"

"Yes, sir!" The detention center staff snapped to attention.

Cecilia glared at Dominic's retreating back.

Her plan to see Alaric had failed again!

"Mrs. Whitaker," Augustus called out from behind her.

She'd been silent for a while, probably holding back her frustration.

Cecilia bit her lip and said, "Let's go."

Then she left the detention center with Augustus and Preston.

Back at Alaric's villa, Cecilia lay on the big bed she shared with him.

To say Dominic didn't get to her would be a lie.

For the first time, she felt truly helpless.

It was the same feeling she had in her past life when Dominic had locked her up, no matter how hard she tried to fight back.

A chill ran through her body.

The memory of Dominic stabbing her to death in her past life kept replaying in her mind.

No matter how hard she tried to push it away, she couldn't stop thinking about it.

She curled up in a corner of the bed, pulling the blanket over herself, trembling.

She kept trying to comfort herself, but it only made her feel more broken.

She wondered if being reborn had changed anything at all.

Maybe she had just dragged Alaric down with her.

Tears streamed down her face.

For a long time, she thought she wouldn't cry anymore, wouldn't let herself be this vulnerable.

She stayed in the room for hours, unaware of how bad things had gotten.

She was alone in her own little world.

Augustus and George stood outside her door for a long time.

They had knocked, but Cecilia asked to be left alone.

So they waited, worried sick.

From around 4 PM until the early hours of the morning, George couldn't take it anymore.

He was scared Cecilia might hurt herself.

Just as he raised his hand to knock, the door suddenly opened.

Cecilia stood there, looking calm.

The Cecilia who had been on the verge of breaking down was gone.

Now, she seemed composed and steady.

"I'm feeling much better," she said.

"Mrs. Whitaker," George said, genuinely concerned.

After serving Alaric for so many years, he knew the Whitaker Family treated Alaric well, but they weren't exactly close. But now, he could see everything Cecilia was doing for Alaric.

In this lifetime, Alaric couldn't let Cecilia's efforts go to waste!
