Chapter 408 The Truth of Seraphina's Past Life

Cecilia could totally feel Dashiell's skepticism.

"Yeah, it's weird, right? Me coming back from ten years in the future. Think about it, haven't I changed a ton? Like, overnight?" Cecilia asked Dashiell.

Dashiell nodded, still processing.

Cecilia had definitely changed a lot.

He figured it was just her growing up, never even considering something wild like a rebirth!

"I don't even know how to explain it. It's like I had this dream about what happens ten years from now, but it felt so real. All the highs and lows, the pain and joy—it wasn't a dream," Cecilia said, finally opening up to Dashiell.

In this world, Dashiell was probably the only one she could tell the truth to.

She wouldn't tell her parents, her best friends, or even the person she loved the most.

But with Dashiell, she let it all out.

Maybe it was trust!

"So, what happened to you ten years later?" Dashiell asked.

Even though he was skeptical, he couldn't help but want to believe her.

Cecilia had no reason to lie to him.

And she seemed totally sane; she wasn't making stuff up.

"I got stabbed to death by Dominic," Cecilia said bluntly.

Dashiell's face darkened.

"That's why the first thing I did after coming back was marry Alaric. I knew what Dominic was really like. No way I could be with him again," Cecilia explained.

"Really?" Dashiell murmured. "So you're just using Alaric. I thought you two are really in love."

"I love him," Cecilia said. "At first, I was just using him, but now I can tell you straight up, I love him."

Dashiell looked at Cecilia, trying to process everything.

Cecilia switched gears, saying, "I didn't come here to talk about my past. I came to talk about Seraphina's next ten years."

Dashiell's throat tightened.

He had a feeling Cecilia wasn't here to talk about herself.

She was so sharp now, handling everything like a pro; she didn't really need his help.

"In Seraphina's previous life, she committed suicide," Cecilia said, each word heavy.

Even now, thinking about it made Cecilia's heart ache.

Such a lively, carefree woman choosing to end her life like that.

"Why?" Dashiell asked, struggling to accept it.

"Because Sebastian drove Atticus to his death," Cecilia said straight up. "You might think Seraphina didn't care about Atticus, but that's not true. You know her; the more she cares, the more she acts indifferent. She's scared of getting hurt. Even though she was mad at Atticus for not seeing Mary one last time, their bond was deep. So when Sebastian took all the shares ofEverhart Bank and forced Atticus out, Atticus couldn't handle it and jumped from the Everhart Bank, dying on the spot."

Dashiell pressed his lips together, listening quietly.

"Seraphina ain't dumb. She might not know all of Sebastian's plans now, but when he took all those shares from Atticus, she figured out it was part of his long game. After Atticus died, she jumped from the same spot he did," Cecilia said, watching Dashiell closely.

Dashiell stayed quiet.

Cecilia swallowed hard and went on, "I don't want Seraphina to go through that again, so I wanna change her fate. I tried to push you two together, knowing you'd force her to marry you. I was waiting for you to get hitched and change your fates. In her past life, Seraphina was pregnant, but the baby wasn't yours; it was Sebastian's. The night you had that car accident, Seraphina left with Sebastian and made a lifelong commitment. This time, I took her away; I didn't want her to make the same mistake. But even then, she lost the baby. I thought it was just a natural miscarriage because she was clumsy. Now I think it might've been more than that. Of course, back then, I was too focused on another guy to notice."

"I think I know why she miscarried," Dashiell finally said.

Cecilia looked at him, curious.

"I remember telling you that Atticus made a deal with Sebastian to keep him away from Seraphina so she could be with me. I think Atticus might've done the same thing in the past life to cut Seraphina off from Sebastian completely," Dashiell explained.

Cecilia nodded. "Could be. But what's important is now."

She looked at Dashiell intently.

"In this life, we can't let Seraphina make the same mistakes. If you two fall out or break up because of this miscarriage, and Sebastian gets back with her, all our efforts will be for nothing. She'll go down a dark path. Dashiell, I admit I'm selfish. Even though I feel guilty for misunderstanding you in the past, I'll still choose Seraphina over you. I can't leave her alone, and I don't dare tell her about her future; I'm scared she won't accept it or believe it. I gotta say, Sebastian's got a hold on Seraphina just like Dominic had on me. If I hadn't lived through it, I wouldn't believe Dominic was a bad guy either."

"I get it," Dashiell nodded. "I didn't tell Seraphina either because I knew she wouldn't believe it. Not only would she not believe it, but she'd also rebel more if we badmouthed Sebastian. So I chose to force her to be with me, thinking I could change something. But I didn't realize that in Seraphina's world, I don't really matter. To her, Sebastian is the only one, and I'm just a disruptor."

"Dashiell..."

"Let me finish," Dashiell cut her off. "In the past life, did you know Sebastian's true identity?"

Cecilia was stunned.

What other identity could Sebastian have?!
