Chapter 416 Cassius Becomes a Father
Cassius gave the woman in front of him a once-over.
Lily stared right back at him.
Honestly, she never planned on tracking down Cassius.
Even after she found out she was pregnant, she didn't think about coming to find him.
But...
In the end, Lily caved.
The entertainment biz was brutal; if she didn't hustle, she would be forgotten.
"Why aren't you saying anything?" Cassius's face darkened.
He had some free time today, but he was in a foul mood.
"Mr. Blackburn, can you ask them to leave? I need to talk to you alone," Lily finally said, gathering her courage.
Cassius frowned a bit.
With a wave of his hand, the people lined up in front of him quickly left.
As they walked out, they all shot Lily grateful looks.
If Lily hadn't shown up and made that request, they had no idea how long they'd have to deal with Cassius's bad mood.
Now, it was just Cassius and Lily in the private room.
"So, what do you want?" Cassius asked.
"Mr. Blackburn, do you remember that night in your car?" Lily took a deep breath before speaking slowly.
Cassius looked puzzled. No memory at all.
Lily saw his confusion and explained, "That night outside this very room, I was drugged and fell into your arms. I asked you to take me away, and then in the car, we..."
Cassius seemed to recall something.
Lily continued, "When we left, you asked me how much money I wanted, and I didn't take any."
Cassius suddenly remembered, the incident coming back to him.
His face turned sarcastic, "So, you want to cash in with the baby?"
"I'm not," Lily quickly denied.
"So, why are you here? You can just get an abortion yourself!" Cassius shot back, no mercy.
"Yes, I admit I have my reasons for coming to you, but I really don't want to blackmail you..." Lily tried to explain.
"Just spit it out!" Cassius, losing patience, cut her off.
Lily bit her lip, gathered her courage, and said, "I want a role in a Starlight Productions project."
"The lead role?" Cassius lit a cigarette, asking calmly.
"The supporting role," Lily replied.
Cassius gave her a scrutinizing look.
Lily thought he didn't believe her and quickly added, "That role was originally mine. I fought hard to get it, but a week before filming started, I was told I was replaced by another actress. I asked the director and found out she was forced in by the investors."
Cassius listened like he was hearing a bedtime story, no real emotion.
Lily went on, "I really fought hard for that role, and losing it out of nowhere was a gut punch. I did some digging and found out the actress got the role through the investors' dirty tricks. If she had gotten it on her own merit, I would've accepted it. But knowing she used shady means, I couldn't take it. I really don't have any other demands; I just want a role."
"Starlight Productions?" Cassius asked, taking a drag from his cigarette.
He didn't really care about Lily's sob story.
After all, people in the entertainment industry are pros at acting.
"Yes." Lily nodded quickly.
"Movie or TV show?" Cassius asked.
"TV show," Lily said.
"What's the name?" Cassius asked.
"Echoes of Destiny," Lily blurted out.
"What's the character's name?" Cassius asked again.
"Alison Winters," Lily replied.
"Alright," Cassius agreed. "Get an abortion tomorrow, and the role is yours."
"Thank you, Mr. Blackburn," Lily quickly said.
"One more thing," Cassius looked at her seriously, "Is the kid mine?"
"I swear to God!" Lily said firmly.
"Okay," Cassius responded, knowing no woman would dare lie to him. "Take my number, and text me your address when you get home. I'll pick you up for the procedure tomorrow morning."
"Okay," Lily nodded quickly and saved his number.
Cassius waved her off impatiently.
Lily left, closing the door behind her.
Cassius stared at the door, feeling oddly irritated.
In his 25 years, this was the first time he'd gotten a woman pregnant.
Thinking about tomorrow...
Next time, he wouldn't let himself get seduced so easily.
He grabbed his phone and called the general manager of Starlight Productions.
The guy on the other end was super respectful, "Mr. Blackburn, you called me personally. What can I do for you?"
"What do you think?" Cassius played coy.
"Mr. Blackburn, to be honest, Starlight Productions has made some money from movies and TV shows this year, but you know how expensive the film industry is. I really can't afford it. If I had it, I'd pay you back. Can you give me a little more time?"
"How long?" Cassius asked.
"Can I have a year?" the guy asked cautiously.
"Fine," Cassius said indifferently.
"Thank you, Mr. Blackburn..."
"Wait," Cassius interrupted. "I want a role."
"A role? Mr. Blackburn, are you planning to enter the entertainment industry? With your looks, you'd be a star immediately. Just tell me what role you want, and it's yours!" the guy said eagerly, sounding a bit excited.
"What are you thinking?" Cassius was speechless.
"I'm asking for a role for someone else," Cassius clarified.
"Oh, it's for your friend," the guy quickly corrected. "Which role do you want, Mr. Blackburn? Or should I arrange one for you?"
"Echoes of Destiny, the supporting role of Alison Winters," Cassius said.
The guy sounded troubled, "That role's already been decided, and it's from the investors' side..."
"Aren't you the investor? All the shows produced by Starlight Productions are funded by you!" Cassius pointed out.
"But it's really been decided. How about this, Mr. Blackburn, you pick another role you like, and I'll do my best to arrange it for you?"
"Then I want the lead role in Echoes of Destiny," Cassius said directly.
The guy was terrified. "Mr. Blackburn, I spent a lot of money to secure the lead role, and she has a lot of fans. I can't afford to be attacked by her fans. Besides, the lead role's appeal is crucial for a show. I can't just dig my own grave!"
"Choose between the lead and the supporting role and let me know," Cassius said without hesitation.
He left it at that and was about to hang up.
