Chapter 322 Danger (11) Danger Rises Again

Alaric and his group arrived to see several people in the darkness arriving as well.

From a distance, he couldn't see it was Cecilia.

To avoid alerting the enemy, they hid in the shadows, springing into action only after Cecilia was thrown into the river to rescue her stealthily.Fortunately, Cecilia could swim a bit.

Otherwise, she would have drowned.

Alaric was absolutely furious.

He thought, 'Cecilia really has no sense of crisis.

Did she even know how vulnerable she really was in that world she didn't know about?'

Clearly, he had so many words of blame he wanted to say.

At the sight of Cecilia, alive and well, he was unable to utter a word of rebuke. He recalled his anger towards Cecilia due to Dominic'staking advantage of her, which once made him furious but was melted by her tears. In this lifetime, he couldn't bear to see Cecilia's tears.

Whenever she cried, he would feel the world crumbling.

It would be stupid to let it happen.

Yet it was unexpected that Cecilia would suddenly confess her love for him.

So caught off guard, he didn't really know how to respond.

He embraced her tightly, bringing their hearts close.Inside the car.

Cassius thought the two would be at each other's throats, but instead, they were so sweet.

He felt a bit inexplicably melancholic.

It was a pity he didn't get to see the drama.

His eyes suddenly tightened.

He looked through the rearview mirror.

Then, he quickly turned his head to look back.

With just one move from Cassius, Alaric immediately reacted.

It was a kind of tacit understanding.

The other only needed one action to understand each other's meaning clearly.

"Someone's catching up," Cassius said. "And there'squite a few of them."

Cecilia tensed up. Cassius‘s tone was so severe that it was almost frightening.

Cecilia left Alaric's embrace and saw that Alaric was also looking towards the back of the car.

They saw several cars madly chasing them.

"Augustus, speed up!" Alaric ordered decisively.

Augustus did as he was told and took a foot off the gas right to the floor.

The cars behind them also sped up at the exact moment, madly chasing after them.

Clearly, the pursuers had ill intentions.

Cecilia bit her lip, trying to stay calm.

She didn't want to be a burden to Alaric.

Alaric watched the cars behind them warily while Cassius helped Augustus keep an eye on the road ahead.

"Augustus, watch out!" Cassius suddenly shouted.

Augustus sharply turned the steering wheel, and the car swayed violently.

Alaric jerked Cecilia into a hug before shielding her under his own body, slamming his own body against the car window in order to protect Cecilia.

Cecilia was startled. "Alaric!"

"I'm fine!" Alaric immediately said, even as he quickly ordered, "Get out of the car!"

Because they were being attacked from both front and back.

Staying in the car would only get them crushed.

Augustus swiftly unlocked the car doors, and the occupants exited directly, leaping into a field by the country road.Just as they jumped out, the cars from both sides crashed into their car, turning it into a pancake.

It was clear that if anyone had been in the car, they would have been dead.

Cecilia controlled her inner fear, following Alaric to escape through the fields.

She had just been kidnapped in these fields, and now...

She felt that with Alaric around, there wouldn't be any danger.

Alaric could just give her plenty of security.

"Cassius, split up," Alaric ordered as he ran with Cecilia. "Save yourselves first."

Meaning they prioritized their own lives.

Cassius seemed to glance at Alaric, then at Cecilia.

He swallowed the words he was about to say.

He took Augustus and headed in another direction.

Alaric took Cecilia in a different direction.

Splitting up was the best way to minimize casualties.

Alaric pulled Cecilia to hide in a field, and Cecilia panted.

If she didn't stop, she might suffocate to death.

But she didn't stop on her own; she was afraid of slowing Alaric down.

Yet Alaric noticed her struggle, and then they both stopped.

As Cecilia gasped for air, she suddenly felt something cold in her hand.

Alaric handed her something.

She looked down and was stunned.

Alaric didn't seem to notice her reaction. He quickly and clearly instructed her, "Remember to load it, then pull the trigger. Don't be afraid, and don't let your hand shake."

As he spoke, he gave her a demonstration.

Cecilia just watched Alaric.

Staring at him intently, she never thought he would have something like this.

"I'm going to draw them away now. Just keep yourself safe. No matter where you are, I'll come find you."

"What if you die?" Cecilia asked.

The words slipped out.

Her eyes suddenly reddened.

"I won't die," Alaric said confidently.

"Everyone would die."

"If I die, just forget about me," Alaric said easily.

In such a relaxed tone, Cecilia's heart ached.

She thought, 'How could Alaric say such a thing so casually?

How could he say, if he died, just forget about him?'

She firmly said, "If you die, I won't live alone."

Alaric seemed stunned for a second.

He reached out and patted Cecilia's head, "Okay."

Then, without any hesitation, he walked out.

The timing was just pinching just right.

Upon exiting, he immediately caught the pursuers' attention, and they madly chased him.The sound of footsteps faded away.

Cecilia's surroundings became extremely quiet.

The danger had passed her by.

But her heart couldn't relax.

Because her safety was bought with Alaric's life.

She didn't know if Alaric...

Violent gunfire suddenly rang out across the quiet field.

Cecilia felt like she was suddenly drained.

She didn't know if it was fear or worry.

Her heart was so heavy that it could drive her mad.

She really didn't know who the shots were coming from and who they were landing on.

On the bloody night, the gunfire grew more intense.

Cecilia squatted on the ground.

She didn't go anywhere.

She was afraid that if she went too far, Alaric wouldn't find her.

She wanted to stay here, waiting for him to come back.

She hugged her knees, burying her head, silently telling herself that Alaric would definitely come back for her.

He would definitely come back and take her back to Serenovia City.

She thought it was time so long that the minutes felt like years.

She just suddenly realized...
