Chapter 176 Cecilia's the Chief Designer
Under the spotlight, Cecilia shone bright like a diamond.
She and Gailo held hands, walking toward the runway.
The light hit her, and the audience was stunned.
It wasn't just her beauty; it was her identity.
Rebecca stood below, gritting her teeth. Why did Cecilia deserve all this honor? Why did she get to be in the spotlight?
Rebecca wished she could pull Cecilia off the stage. This launch was supposed to be her moment. She couldn't stand being overshadowed.
Cecilia's beauty was unmatched. Rebecca glared at her, but she wasn't the only one watching.
Everyone was in disbelief. Cecilia was Crane, the designer of Harmony Threads! Crane, one of the world's top designers, whose designs were always hits, even imitated by luxury brands.
People used to think Cecilia was just a pretty face with no refinement. They thought she was charming but lacked fashion sense and manners.
This misunderstanding was all because of Dominic. He was afraid she'd outshine him, so he controlled her look and behavior, even buying news to make her seem unworthy.
Now, Dominic watched Cecilia on stage, stunned. He remembered her not dressing up much, always following his preferences. He thought she had no aesthetic sense, no personality, no ambition. He saw her as bland and uninteresting.
He never imagined she'd become the top designer for a major luxury brand, standing brilliantly before everyone.
Cecilia was once just an ordinary woman. The only thing Dominic regretted about breaking up with her was the loss of the Lockhart Group's assets. Without her, securing them seemed impossible.
As for Cecilia, he had no attachment. Besides her looks, he thought she was useless. If not for her family background, any decent man would be enough for her, and he wouldn't care about losing her.
Even after Cecilia married Alaric and started showing some independence and skills, Dominic still didn't feel the way he did now, like he'd lost something precious. His heart felt like it was being eaten by a thousand ants.
He clenched his fists, glaring at the confident, beautiful Cecilia on stage.
For the first time, he realized he never really understood her. He had underestimated her. She wasn't the timid woman he thought; her sharpness was unstoppable.
Cecilia had always seemed so soft and obedient around him. Did she really love him, or was there another motive?
Now, he couldn't see her as just an ordinary woman. He couldn't look down on her anymore.
He even thought, if she hadn't broken off the engagement, her current glory would be his. Maybe he didn't always like her being in the spotlight, but he couldn't stand that she, now better than him, was someone else's woman.
He'd always had the best of everything. His woman should be the best too. Alaric was getting an undeserved advantage!
Dominic's eyes were bloodshot with rage. He was about to lose it. He turned to look at Alaric sitting next to him, seeing the obvious affection in Alaric's eyes, as if his world only had Cecilia.
No, Dominic didn't believe they were truly in love. He couldn't accept it.
"Do you regret it?" Alaric suddenly spoke in the darkness, his voice cold but his eyes still on Cecilia.
Dominic forced himself to stay calm. "Regret? What do I have to regret? There are plenty of amazing women out there. What does Cecilia count for?"
Alaric chuckled, "She counts as the most amazing one. And you, you're not worthy of her."
Dominic's face darkened. He glared at Alaric but couldn't argue. Cecilia's brilliance left him speechless. Her talent gave her the right to boast.
He had to admit he had no achievements to show. All his so-called perfect labels were self-proclaimed, without substance. He had no confidence to question Cecilia's accomplishments.
Dominic gritted his teeth and said harshly, "Do you think her current glory is good for you?"
So, he admitted Cecilia's excellence. Alaric's eyes seemed to tighten, but he didn't take Dominic's words to heart.
Then Dominic said, "She will steal all your spotlight."
