Chapter 421 Forced to Have a Child

Cassius nervously picked up the phone, "Dad?"

"Get your ass back here, now!" The voice on the other end was all business.

"Dad, I got stuff to do. Can I come back later?" Cassius tried to stall.

"Now!"

"I made plans with Alaric, can't just ditch him." Cassius threw Alaric under the bus.

"I already told him. He's heading to the house." No escape for Alaric either.

"Ten minutes." The call was about to end.

"Dad!" Cassius pleaded. "One hour, I'll be home in one hour."

"No way!" Hugo barked.

Cassius shivered.

"I already had Lily brought back from the hospital," Hugo said flatly.

"What?" Cassius was stunned.

How did he find out?

Before he could say anything, the call ended.

Damn it!

Cassius bolted out of the hospital.

He jumped into his car, tried calling Lily, but it went straight to voicemail.

Grinding his teeth, he called Alaric, "Alaric, my dad said you were going to my house?"

"Yeah, he told me to come over. I'll wait for you there," Alaric replied.

"Did he say why?" Cassius asked.

"Nope," Alaric said.

"Shit," Cassius cursed.

"What happened?" Alaric asked.

"He caught me messing around with a girl!" Cassius said through clenched teeth.

"Since when does he care about that?" Alaric said.

"The problem is, I got her pregnant!" Cassius said.

"You're on your own, man!" Alaric said, not giving a damn.

Cassius hung up and floored it.

In less than ten minutes, Cassius stormed into the Blackburn Mansion, nestled in one of the older parts of Serenovia City.

The area wasn't as shiny as the new city, but it was prime real estate. The Blackburn estate sprawled over thousands of square feet and was worth a fortune. Rumor had it, it used to be a royal residence from the Yakurosean Empire, making it both valuable and prestigious.

People said the Blackburn Family had ties in both the underworld and the legit world, with a scary amount of power.

But no one really knew how deep their influence went.

Anyway, the big families of Serenovia City and the noble families of Astralton City wouldn't dare mess with the Blackburns.

"Cassius," Alaric called out.

Cassius was already sweating bullets.

Hearing Alaric, he turned quickly, "Hurry up. If I get my ass kicked, you gotta hold my dad back."

Cassius feared nothing and no one, except his dad.

Alaric stayed cool as a cucumber.

"Are you even my friend?" Cassius snapped.

"I don't wanna get caught in the crossfire," Alaric shot back.

"You won't. My dad wouldn't dare hit you. He'd probably bow to you," Cassius said.

"Then what are you scared of?" Alaric raised an eyebrow.

Cassius frowned.

Of course, he was scared of getting his ass kicked by his dad.

"He knows our relationship. He called me here to mediate," Alaric said bluntly. "Don't worry, you won't die."

He knew he wouldn't die, but his dad would definitely beat him up.

"Let's roll," Alaric said, giving Cassius a pat on the shoulder before striding ahead.

Cassius hustled to keep up.

The moment they stepped into the main hall, Cassius spotted his dad, Hugo Blackburn, sitting dead center, looking all kinds of serious.

Cassius couldn't bring himself to look directly at him.

Instead, he glanced over at Lily, who was sitting in the guest seat.

Lily looked scared out of her mind, her eyes begging Cassius for help, too freaked out to say a word. She'd only wanted to use the baby to snag a role.

She hadn't expected to get shut down like this.

Everyone knew not to mess with the Blackburn Family!

Had she bitten off more than she could chew?

Lily looked at Cassius, but he avoided her gaze.

Cassius shuffled up to Hugo. "Dad."

Hugo didn't even look at him.

He stood up and walked over to Alaric, all respectful, "Mr. Whitaker, glad you could make it."

"Mr. Blackburn," Alaric replied politely.

"Have a seat." Hugo took Alaric's hand and led him to one of the main seats.

Alaric didn't argue and sat down with Hugo.

Hugo had the servants bring coffee.

Alaric sipped it slowly.

He completely ignored Cassius, who was making faces at him.

"Alright, spill it. What's going on?" Hugo finally asked Cassius after making sure Alaric was settled.

"It's exactly what it looks like," Cassius mumbled.

"Is the kid in her belly yours?"

"Maybe," Cassius said quietly.

"What do you mean, maybe?" Hugo slammed his hand on the table, almost knocking over the coffee.

Cassius immediately dropped to his knees.

"Yes, it's mine," he admitted.

"What were you planning to do today?" Hugo asked.

"I know I shouldn't be fooling around. I know I shouldn't be with sketchy women. So today, I was planning to have the baby aborted to avoid causing trouble for the Blackburn Family."

"And you have the nerve to call others sketchy! You're the sketchy one! You've disgraced the Blackburn Family."

"I'll make a change," Cassius said quickly.

"Yeah, right!" Hugo shot back, not buying it.

Cassius knelt there, not daring to say more.

The hall went dead silent.

Hugo suddenly said, "Since she's pregnant, let her have the baby."

"What?" Cassius almost jumped up.

How could she have the baby?

He was only 25!

"Shut up!" Hugo snapped. "Aborting your own kid, are you even a man?"

"But it was an accident! We only met once, really," Cassius said.

"One meeting and you ended up in bed. Can you be any more of a beast?" Hugo shouted.

"Dad, that's not the point. The point is, we have no feelings for each other. If she has the baby, the one who suffers will be the kid! What kid doesn't want a happy family?" Cassius was losing it.

"Feelings can grow over time," Hugo said.

"But Dad..." Cassius started.

"I've already picked a date for you," Hugo cut him off.

"What date?"

"The wedding date."

"Dad!" Cassius said, stunned.

"The sixth of next month, the Blackburn Family's annual lucky day," Hugo said.

"Dad, you can't do this to us. We have no feelings for each other. Forcing us together will only harm us..." Cassius protested.

Hugo suddenly called out, "Bring me the whip."

Cassius instantly shrank back.
