Chapter 125 Cecilia Turns the Tables
Roy's words left everyone stunned.
It was one thing for him to demand Cecilia explain why she fired him, but asking the chairman's daughter to apologize in front of everyone? That was pushing it!
No one dared to speak up, afraid that provoking Roy might actually make him jump. If that happened, they'd be to blame.
In the tense silence, Roy spoke again, leaving no room for negotiation. "If Cecilia doesn't do as I say, I'll jump right now!"
He made a move as if to jump.
"Cecilia!" Charles barked, "You need to explain to Roy why you reassigned and then fired him. Speak up now!"
Cecilia glanced at Charles, then turned to Roy. "Didn't I already tell you? What more do you want me to explain?"
"Cecilia, you're really pushing it!" Roy's anger flared.
Charles shouted at Cecilia, "Are you crazy? You're provoking him!"
"Roy, come down, and I'll explain everything to you," Cecilia said, her voice unnervingly calm, almost cold.
"I won't come down!" Roy snapped, "If you don't explain clearly and apologize to me, I'll die right here!"
Cecilia's face darkened as she was about to speak.
"Mr. Lockhart!" Charles turned his anger toward Theodore. "Your daughter is trying to ruin the Lockhart Group! She won't listen to me, but as her father and the chairman, can't you take some responsibility? Do you think your silence and protection of your daughter are befitting of a chairman?"
Theodore felt a bit embarrassed by Charles's sarcasm. He turned to look at Cecilia, unsure of her plan and whether she would disregard a human life.
"Theodore! If someone dies today because of your family, I will resign immediately. I mean it!" Charles declared, showcasing his noble character and a spirit of self-sacrifice, willing to risk his career for a life.
"Yelling at my dad won't help. This is my doing. Mr. Wolf, if you want to be the good guy and show your greatness, come at me," Cecilia said coolly, her tone slightly sarcastic.
Charles said, "Cecilia, you bring shame to the Lockhart Group."
"Who should feel ashamed will be clear soon enough," Cecilia said with a cold smile.
At that moment, she suddenly started walking toward Roy.
"Stop right there!" Roy, seeing Cecilia's actions, became extremely agitated. "If you take another step, I'll jump."
Cecilia paused.
"If you kneel and apologize to me now, I'll come down. If you keep pushing me, I'll really end it!" Roy shouted.
"I just promised Mr. Wolf that if you die, I'll pay with my life," Cecilia said, continuing to walk toward him.
Roy was frightened.
Everyone present was also shocked.
Charles shouted, "Cecilia, are you crazy? Come back! Come back right now!"
Cecilia ignored him and kept walking toward Roy.
Roy glanced behind him, then back at Cecilia. She was approaching without a hint of concern.
He didn't really want to die. This whole stunt was to embarrass Cecilia, to teach her a lesson.
It was a plan he and Charles had cooked up. He had to humiliate Cecilia today.
Ideally, he'd shame her so much she'd be too embarrassed to stay at the Lockhart Group. But he didn't expect Cecilia to act so unpredictably, putting him in a tough spot.
"Don't come any closer!" Roy was terrified, sweat pouring down his forehead.
Cecilia didn't stop; she even let out a cold laugh.
Her smile seemed downright cold-blooded.
Charles didn't want Cecilia to succeed. He knew Roy wouldn't jump; it was just a threat to scare Cecilia. If she got too close and Roy didn't jump, everyone would see he was bluffing, and he'd be a laughingstock.
He quickly moved to grab Cecilia.
Augustus, who was beside Cecilia, swiftly blocked Charles.
The sudden movement drew everyone's attention.
Cecilia glanced back.
She knew Charles's tricks too well, so she had instructed Augustus beforehand to stop anyone who approached her.
At that moment, she was genuinely grateful to Alaric.
It seemed he knew Augustus would be very useful to her.
"Cecilia, stop right there!" Charles, blocked, could only shout angrily.
Cecilia ignored him. She stopped in front of Roy.
Roy was trembling all over, clearly scared.
Cecilia didn't reach out to pull Roy down. Instead, she climbed onto the rooftop. Her action surprised everyone.
Theodore was clearly startled. "Cecilia!"
It was clear that Roy didn't jump when she approached, indicating he didn't dare to jump. She just needed to pull Roy down; there was no need to climb up herself.
Cecilia ignored everyone's gaze and faced Roy directly. "Are you really not afraid to die?"
"You!" Roy pointed at Cecilia, sweating profusely and trembling all over.
"If you jump, I'll jump with you," Cecilia said.
"Don't think I won't do it, don't think..."
"I'm not saying you won't. I'm just telling you that if you want to jump, I won't stop you. If you jump, I'll pay with my life. I'll jump in with you. I mean it!" Cecilia said firmly.
Roy's face turned pale. For a moment, he thought about jumping, not wanting to be threatened by Cecilia, but seeing her determination, he lost his nerve.
He stared at Cecilia, unable to say a word.
"I'll count to three. Either we jump together, or we go down together. Make your choice," Cecilia said coldly.
Roy looked at Cecilia.
He was still trying to convince himself. "Don't threaten me. I'm old. I'm not afraid to die."
"Three." Cecilia didn't waste words.
Roy looked at her in fear.
Everyone held their breath, watching her.
"Two," Cecilia counted down.
Roy was extremely tense.
"One!"
