Chapter 643 Time Can Heal All Wounds
The delivery room door swung open again.
Lily was wheeled out in a wheelchair, looking a bit tired but overall okay.
She was surprised to see so many people waiting outside.
She had thought she might be alone in there, and Cassius might not even show up.
She glanced at Cassius.
Cassius walked up to her with a big smile. "Feeling better after giving birth?"
Lily nodded. "Yeah, I feel much lighter."
"Like finally taking a dump after being constipated forever?" Cassius joked.
Lily was speechless.
"I read it on my phone," Cassius said, noticing her expression. "I got nervous and looked up the birthing process online, and someone described it like that!"
Lily didn't know how to respond, even though it was pretty accurate.
Before giving birth, it was really uncomfortable, but the moment the baby was born, it felt like being cured of constipation. Her whole body felt relaxed.
"I also read that women who can endure natural childbirth really love their husbands. Only loving them to the extreme would make them willing to endure such pain." Cassius rarely said anything touching, especially in front of so many people, which made Lily feel a bit shy.
Besides, she didn't choose natural childbirth for Cassius. She chose it to avoid having a scar on her belly. As an actress, she might have to show her waist on the big screen.
"I didn't know you loved me so much!" Cassius sighed.
Lily was at a loss for words, and the others found it hard to take in too. "I will never treat you badly in this life," Cassius promised. Lily nodded, unable to reject his vow. Her shy silence only deepened Cassius's conviction of her love for him.
"Mr. Blackburn, let's take Lily back to the room to rest," the nurse reminded, "The baby will be brought to the room soon."
Cassius nodded.
Then he swaggered ahead.
The nurse was stunned.
Wasn't this the moment when the husband took over the wheelchair and pushed the wife back to the room?
Cassius had just made a heartfelt promise.
Yet Lily was used to it.
If Cassius really did something gentle to take care of her, she would be scared!
Cecilia glanced at Cassius walking ahead, feeling speechless.
She walked up to Lily but didn't push the wheelchair, afraid that Alaric would get angry, as his eyes were already giving a warning.
Cecilia said, "I just saw the baby, very cute."
Lily's face showed a happy smile.
This must be the halo of motherhood.
"You are really brave," Cecilia said, "Nowadays, many people choose C-sections."
"Actually, giving birth is not as painful as imagined," Lily said, "Of course, it's not painless, but once you go through the pain, the moment the baby is born, everything is fine. I feel very relaxed now. When it's your turn, you must hold on!"
Cecilia swallowed the words she was about to say.
"Are you pregnant?" Lily whispered.
Cecilia looked at Lily.
"I know you can't say anything in the first three months of pregnancy, so I won't tell anyone," Lily quickly promised."How did you know?" Cecilia was surprised.
She shouldn't be showing any signs yet.
Lily replied, "Cassius told me."
Cecilia was even more surprised. Alaric would never tell Cassius.
"Cassius figured it out," Lily explained, reading Cecilia's mind. "When you went to the hospital for a check-up, Cassius saw how Mr. Whitaker was protecting you and knew."
Cecilia couldn't help but feel a bit of schadenfreude. Alaric thought he was so smart. Even someone as careless as Cassius could figure it out. How could Alaric hide it?
The group returned to the room. The baby was soon brought back, placed in the crib. They said the baby cried a lot during the injection but was now asleep.
Lily lay in bed and soon fell asleep too.
After settling the baby, Hugo called Alaric out for a private conversation.
In the room, Cassius leaned over the crib. He had been the least expecting the baby's arrival, yet now he was the most excited, staring wide-eyed despite repeatedly insisting the baby was too ugly.
Cecilia and Dashiell sat on the sofa, watching Cassius's unusual behavior.
"Who would have thought Cassius likes kids," Cecilia couldn't help but sigh.
Dashiell nodded. "Among the three of us, the least likely to get married and have kids, Cassius, became a father first."
"Yeah," Cecilia responded.
At that moment, she suddenly thought of Dashiell's child. If Seraphina had been a bit more careful, she would have given birth by now.
Dashiell didn't say much either. Perhaps, he thought of it too. He was just better at hiding it than most people.
In the quiet delivery room, it was unclear how much time had passed when Alaric and Hugo returned. When they came back, Alaric's face was noticeably serious.
He walked towards Cecilia and said, "It's late, let's go home."
Cecilia nodded.
"Let's go together," Alaric said to Dashiell.
"Okay." Dashiell stood up.
"Are you leaving?" Cassius looked at them, seeming quite reluctant. Sometimes it felt like Cassius was clearly dependent on Alaric. The three grew up in the wild, relying on each other, it might have become a habit!
"Take good care of Lily and the baby," Alaric said.
"Okay." Cassius felt a bit down.
Alaric didn't say more, holding Cecilia's hand, and left the room. Dashiell followed them out.
They walked towards the garage. When Dashiell was about to get into his car, Alaric called him, "Try to like someone else."
Dashiell nodded. He knew what Alaric was reminding him of.
"Cassius is doing well," Alaric said, implying not to get too emotionally involved.
Dashiell continued to nod. Cecilia always felt that Dashiell and Cassius were very obedient in front of Alaric.
Alaric took Cecilia into the car. Dashiell also got into his car, and as he watched the car in front leave, the faint smile on his face slowly faded.
Seeing Cassius's child, he found it hard to express his feelings. He wondered, if his child were still here, what would it be like?
Dashiell started the car and left. He thought, 'Time can heal all wounds. One day, all of this will be forgotten.'
