Chapter 617 Tit for Tat (1)
Magnolia wants to meet Cecilia?
Cecilia thought about it: meeting Magnolia meant meeting Alaric's family for real.
"Don't stress, my mom's super chill," Dashiell sensed Cecilia's nerves. "She just wants to officially meet Alaric's wife."
"Okay," Cecilia agreed quickly. "When's Aunt Magnolia free?"
"I'll check with her and text you once we set a time," Dashiell replied.
"Okay," Cecilia said.
"I gotta run, I have a meeting," Dashiell said quickly, spotting Seraphina at the door.
"Bye," Cecilia responded.
After hanging up, Dashiell turned to Seraphina. "Is the meeting starting?"
"In ten minutes," Seraphina reported.
"Got it," Dashiell responded.
Seraphina walked away, feeling pretty annoyed. She was supposed to be Dashiell's assistant, not his secretary. Shouldn't his secretary handle this stuff? She couldn't help but think so.
Ten minutes later, at the senior leadership meeting at Everhart Bank, Seraphina sat behind Dashiell. The room was tense.
"Unity World Bank has started offering commercial activity storage loans. Our customer service department has received a lot of inquiries, and several companies are interested in working with them," said Dwayne Larson, the marketing director.
"Which companies are talking to Unity World Bank?" Atticus's face was grim.
"Here's the list," Dwayne said, projecting it. "It looks like companies whose contracts with us are about to expire."
Atticus glanced at the list, his expression darkening.
"Unity World Bank just entered Serenovia City. Isn't their data a bit too precise?" Dashiell suddenly questioned.
Dwayne was momentarily speechless. He didn't know what Dashiell was getting at and didn't dare to speak lightly.
Sebastian glanced at Dashiell, surprised he hit the nail on the head.
Sebastian spoke up, "Unity World Bank is a top global bank. Even though they just entered, wouldn't they have done market research? Mr. Rainier, now's not the time to doubt them but to figure out our next move!" His tone was aggressive.
Dashiell didn't get angry; he nodded. "Mr. Everest makes a good point. You're also in charge of market expansion—what's your take on the competition with Unity World Bank?"
Sebastian was taken aback. He hadn't expected Dashiell to throw the question back at him so smoothly. He was trying to embarrass Dashiell.
Sebastian paused, then calmly said, "We should collaborate with these companies and compete directly with Unity World Bank. We can't let them take our partners. Everhart Bank should offer more concessions and not focus too much on revenue. Stabilizing the market is key."
Just as some senior executives were about to agree, Dashiell bluntly said, "I disagree."
Sebastian's expression shifted, and the room grew tense.
Seraphina, sitting behind Dashiell, could really feel his presence. She couldn't help but glance at Sebastian, seeing him looking pretty frustrated in front of Dashiell.
She held back from speaking. Over time, she had learned not to speak casually in these settings.
"Mr. Rainier, so you're just gonna let Unity World Bank snatch our partners?" Sebastian asked.
Dashiell responded calmly, "Not at all. I have my reasons for opposing. Markets are interconnected. If we cut our profits to keep partnerships, what happens when more contracts expire? Do we keep offering big discounts? This could tank Everhart Bank's annual revenue. And if we lower our profits, what's stopping Unity World Bank from doing the same?"
Sebastian's face soured.
Dashiell continued, "This is a vicious cycle. Price wars aren't my strategy. They just drain our resources."
"So, Mr. Rainier, got a better plan for Unity World Bank trying to steal our partners?" Sebastian asked sarcastically.
Dashiell glanced at Sebastian, then turned to the other senior execs. "Companies partner with us not just for pricing, but for our service, quality, efficiency, integrity, and customer relationships. I've looked at the list; these are companies we've worked with for years and who trust us. First, we need to talk to them and understand their real intentions. Are they really leaning towards Unity World Bank? Based on their needs, we should create personalized plans instead of jumping into price wars!"
Sebastian's expression darkened even more. From Everhart Bank's perspective, profit is key. His suggestion to lower prices clearly jeopardized the company's interests, and it was no surprise it wouldn't gain support. Dashiell's smart proposal of personalized plans was definitely more appealing.
Sebastian was secretly fuming. He had faced repeated setbacks with Dashiell lately. He glanced at Seraphina behind Dashiell, noting her serious expression, which seemed to show she agreed with Dashiell.
He struggled to hold back his frustration, trying to keep his cool.
"Mr. Everhart," Dashiell said respectfully to Atticus, "I suggest forming a special task force to handle market competition against Unity World Bank."
"Agreed," Atticus responded immediately. "I'll leave this entirely to you."
"Thank you, Mr. Everhart. I won't let you down," Dashiell replied.
Atticus nodded, showing his trust in Dashiell.
The meeting ended quickly. At this critical time, more time should be spent on actual market competition.
Back in his office, Dashiell immediately formed the special task force. Elite members from various departments were selected, quickly forming a 30-person team.
But Sebastian wasn't included.
When Sebastian heard the news, he almost flipped his desk. Dashiell was clearly isolating him!
If Dashiell succeeded, he'd be the hero, making it even harder for Sebastian to advance at Everhart Bank.
Sebastian was seething with anger! He refused to let Dashiell succeed!
