Chapter 599 Kidnapping (6) Turning Defeat into Victory

"I always thought Alaric was invincible, that nothing could take him down. Guess I was wrong," Pierce said, his voice icy and detached. "I'm sorry, Cecilia."

As he finished speaking, Pierce pulled the trigger, just like he would on any other mission.

This time, he believed it was the real deal—a final goodbye.

The first time, he just wanted to confirm the outcome in the simplest way, sparing Cecilia from a gruesome scene. He only needed to know who Alaric was; there was no need for Cecilia to see anything more brutal.

But things didn't go as planned.

When Pierce pulled the trigger, he hesitated for a moment.

Maybe he still had some feelings for Cecilia.

After all, missions rarely took this long.

Over time, a lot had changed.

But in the end, he had his mission.

He couldn't afford emotions, couldn't let feelings get in the way.

He had to accept the mission coldly and kill without any remorse.

His eyes narrowed.

Just as he pressed the trigger hard, a figure appeared in front of him. In that split second of distraction, the figure grabbed his arm, forcing the gun to point skyward, and a bullet fired with a loud bang.

Cecilia had already resigned herself to death, but in the next moment, she felt a familiar figure fiercely shielding her.

At the same time, Pierce reacted quickly, kicking hard at Alaric.

But Alaric caught Pierce's foot with one hand, steady as a rock.

Just as Pierce was about to speak, Cassius stepped forward and covered his mouth, forcing his words back down. No sound came out, but his eyes were fierce.

Then Cassius used his other hand to quickly dig out a bug embedded in the flesh behind Pierce's ear.

Everyone at the Phantom Sentinel Agency had one—hidden within their bodies, impossible to detect.

Clearly, Pierce was being monitored by the noble family.

After taking it out, Cassius threw the bug on the ground and stomped it to pieces.

Only after confirming it was destroyed did he throw it into the sea behind him, letting the waves carry it away.

After finishing everything, he released his grip on Pierce's mouth.

Once free, Pierce fell silent, knowing he had failed his mission.

Alaric was no ordinary person.

From start to finish, it was all about distracting Pierce.

They even knew Pierce had a bug on him.

Cassius used all his strength to pry open Pierce's hand and took the gun away.

The gun was also thrown into the sea.

No evidence would be left behind.

With that, Alaric let go of Pierce.

Cassius also released his grip.

"Augustus!" Alaric's eyes shifted.

Augustus, who was about to step forward, stopped.

It was clear he wanted to step forward and kill Pierce.

The recent events had clearly enraged him.

At this moment, he naturally wanted to vent.

"I'll do it!" Alaric ordered.

Augustus's face changed, but he ultimately took a step back.

Cassius also stepped back, pulling Cecilia along with him. "Be careful; the blood might splatter on you," he warned.

At this, Cecilia snapped back to reality and stared directly at Alaric.Alaric had been down on the ground, looking like he was about to die.

How did he get up so fast? Cecilia had seen Alaric in action before, but she still couldn't wrap her head around it. Just how strong was he?

Thinking about it, Cecilia followed Cassius to the side.

She watched as Alaric and Pierce faced off.

Pierce eyed Alaric warily and asked, "So, you're not just some regular guy, huh?"

"No," Alaric replied.

Even with his face covered in blood, he radiated power.

Pierce pressed on, "Who are you? Shadow Shield Security or..."

Alaric replied, "A descendant of the Royal Family of Whitaker."

Hearing this, a flicker of fear crossed Pierce's eyes. He tried to hide it, but it was still there.

"I've tangled with Phantom Sentinel Agency folks a few times," Alaric said slowly, stretching his body. "But I've always held back. This time, I'll show you what real strength is!"

Alaric's eyes suddenly narrowed.

He threw a punch, and Pierce blocked it.

But as Pierce blocked it, he was forced back several steps.

Was this the same force Alaric used when fighting Augustus?

But Augustus hadn't shown any signs of strain.

So Augustus was just pretending that Alaric was weak.

Pierce quickly sidestepped.

Barely dodging Alaric's attack, he was swiftly kicked to the ground, unable to resist.

At this rate, he wouldn't last ten punches before Alaric beat him to death.

Pierce wondered if Augustus had foreseen this day and had prepared him to adapt to Alaric's fighting style. Yet, despite that preparation, Augustus had still taken several hits during their battle.

"Enjoying the show?" Cassius watched from the side, almost wanting to applaud.

The earlier tension had been suffocating.

With Alaric's ability, he could take on ten more people and still win.

Let alone just one Pierce!

Watching now filled Cassius with such excitement that he almost wanted to dance.

Cecilia glanced at Cassius, taken aback. Despite the bloodshed around them, he found the scene utterly enjoyable.

She forced herself to keep watching.

She had promised to accept all of Alaric, even this bloody and terrifying side of him.

Before long, Pierce was a bloody mess.

He lay on the ground.

His head was stomped into the ground by Alaric, and he had no strength left to resist.

Suddenly, Alaric reached out. Cassius quickly stepped forward, drawing a black handgun from his clothes.

Cecilia was startled as she watched Alaric casually point the black handgun at Pierce's heart.

"If you kill me, the noble family will suspect your identity," Pierce used all his strength to grasp at his last chance to live.

Hearing this, Alaric laughed, and the sound was even more terrifying than before.

He said, "If I don't kill you, my identity will be completely exposed! Killing you might still leave some doubt. Besides, you mentioned yourself that the noble family needs me now. Without evidence, they'll have to find someone else to do their dirty work, and I'm the perfect candidate!"

Pierce hadn't expected Alaric to already know the noble family's true intentions of using him.
