Chapter 21 Birthday Gift
"Sure." Theodore hesitated for a second and agreed. He hesitated because they were not accustomed to being ostentatious.
The reason for his agreement was simply because he didn't want Genevieve to suffer bias outside.
He hadn't really given her much. Even their wedding was kept simple due to Ophelia's dissatisfaction with her.
Since then, there had been no more parties for Genevieve. Her birthday and their wedding anniversary were all celebrated at home.
Theodore never expected that they would be so misunderstood by outsiders regarding Genevieve.
Upon careful thought, he discovered that since their marriage, not only did outsiders have a bias against Genevieve, but even Ophelia and Vivienne showed disdain toward her.
He had refrained from sparking any family conflicts before, but it was truly unfair to Genevieve. The more he thought about it, the angrier he became.
He said, "On your mom's 50th birthday, I will make her the happiest woman in the world!"
"I knew you loved her very much," Cecilia exclaimed happily. "I'll take care of the party. You just need to follow my arrangements and surprise Mom when the time comes."
"Alright." Theodore had complete trust in Cecilia. "Don't tire yourself out too much."
"Don't worry." Cecilia smiled. "On mom's birthday, I will make sure you and her dazzle everyone in the country."
"I'll follow your orders." Theodore was indulgent, smiling with a hint of anticipation.
"It's getting late, Dad; you should rest early," Cecilia said.
"You should go to bed early, too," said Theodore.
Cecilia replied, "Okay."
Theodore went upstairs first.
Cecilia sat in the hall for a while. Organizing this birthday party was not just to set a trap for Dominic but also to prevent Genevieve from suffering any longer.
During the years Cecilia married Dominic, Genevieve was even looked down upon by Dominic's mother. The disdain towards Cecilia’s mom could be heard in their words anytime, but to avoid her sadness in the Kingsley family, her mom always endured it. She even deliberately ignored her mom's grievances to be a good daughter-in-law.
Now thinking back, she wanted to slap herself for putting Dominic above everything. She had lost herself for Dominic.
Cecilia gritted her teeth. She vowed never to make the same mistake again and would definitely seek revenge.
Half a month passed, and tomorrow was Genevieve's birthday party.
All preparations for the birthday party were kept secret from Genevieve.
Cecilia wanted to give her a surprise. It was hard to have another 50 years to live, she must make up for all her mother's regrets from her early years.
After confirming the details of tomorrow's party with the staff again, just as she was about to leave, she received a call from Alaric.
It was surprising that this fickle man took the initiative to call her. In the past half month, they had no contact at all. Not only did she have no communication with Alaric, but also with Dominic.
Dominic had been busy with a Forbes celebrity list these days, preparing a lot of materials and even having a live speech.
It was understandable why Dominic valued it so much; this selection was a prestigious event in the Yakurosean Empire, and eighty percent of outstanding political figures in the Yakurosean Empire had received this title.
Therefore, Dominic attached great importance to it. Once he got busy with his own affairs, he wouldn't pay attention to Cecilia at all.
Of course, Cecilia was relieved. She didn't want to act with him at all.
While driving, she answered the phone. "Hello."
"Is your mom's birthday party tomorrow?" Alaric asked bluntly.
"Did you receive the invitation?" Cecilia asked. Today, she had personally ensured that all invitations had been sent out.
"I did," said Alaric.
Cecilia continued, "Remember to come on time."
"I'll give my future mother-in-law a birthday gift," Alaric said.
Hearing this, Cecilia was a little speechless. "No need." She tried to remain calm. "You've already given a gift."
"What?" Alaric was surprised.
"You'll see tomorrow." Cecilia deliberately didn't reveal more.
Alaric chuckled and didn't ask further. He said, "Turn on the TV in a while."
"What?" Cecilia was surprised.
"Half an hour later," said Alaric.
"What am I supposed to watch?" asked Cecilia.
"Just remember to watch." Alaric hung up.
Cecilia frowned, looking at her phone, feeling puzzled. ‘What does he want to do?’
Without dwelling on it, she drove straight to the largest jewelry store in Serenovia City. As she entered, she called Seraphina. "Are you here yet?"
"Almost, one minute," said Seraphina.
"You are always late," Cecilia complained.
"Cecilia, I'm already cooperating with you. I usually don't get up until noon, and now it's not even 11 a.m., and I'm already on my way. What else do you want me to do?" Seraphina was unhappy.
"Drive cautiously, I'll wait for you," Cecilia replied.
"Okay." Seraphina hung up the phone.
Cecilia put down her phone and, led by the staff, went to the VIP room of the jewelry store, receiving the most high-end service.
"Ms. Lockhart, please wait a moment. Our staff has gone to get the Crown for you and will deliver it shortly," the shop assistant said respectfully.
"Okay." Cecilia nodded while sipping her coffee. Suddenly, she thought of something. She said, "Can you turn on the TV for me?"
The VIP room was equipped with a television.
"Of course, please wait a moment." The shop assistant quickly turned on the TV for her and asked, "Ms. Lockhart, would you like to watch Mr. Kingsley's live speech?"
Cecilia was stunned. She had just remembered that the Forbes celebrity list selection was today. ‘Did Alaric ask me to watch Dominic's speech on the TV?’
In her memory, Alaric had not participated in this Forbes celebrity list selection. The threat from Alaric's influence began to show itself in the second year after she and Dominic got married. Once it appeared in their sight, it was unstoppable.
However, at this moment, Cecilia saw on the TV screen that the staff on-site were introducing the list of candidates for the Forbes celebrity list selection, and the first name was Alaric.
The camera immediately focused on Alaric sitting in the front row.
His perfect face was truly alluring, which made Cecilia momentarily distracted.
"Fuck! How does this bastard be on TV? He still looks so charming!" Seraphina's voice suddenly came from the doorway.
Cecilia turned to look at her. She seemed out of breath.
At that moment, even she seemed to be captivated by the TV screen.
Cecilia explained, "It's the annual Forbes celebrity list selection in the Yakurosean Empire."
"Is it the same event as the one you attended at Lumina Mountain to pray for Dominic?" asked Seraphina.
Cecilia sneered. She had already thrown that amulet into the trash can. Dominic was totally a scumbag!
