Chapter 190 An Incident (1) Cecilia, You've Fallen in Love with Me.
Cecilia hung up before Alaric could respond.
Alaric didn't call back.
His plane was already taking off.
A flight attendant stood politely in front of Alaric, looking at him gently.
"Is Cecilia jealous?” Cassius, sitting next to Alaric, had overheard.
"Women get jealous if they care about the guy,” Alaric said, looking calm.
Cassius felt Alaric was showing off.
Since marrying Cecilia, Cassius noticed Alaric had changed.
"By the way,” Alaric asked, "Has Rebecca left?”
"Yeah,” Cassius nodded, "She was taken back to Astralton City by the Adamses. She probably won't have a good time there.”
"She didn't ask Jasper for help?” Alaric asked.
"Rebecca doesn't like Jasper. Why would she ask him?” Cassius said. "Didn't she call you?”
"She did, but I didn't answer,” Alaric replied.
"Typical you,” Cassius said knowingly.
Since Cecilia came along, no other woman mattered to Alaric.
"When we get to Astralton City, let Augustus know to keep an eye on Cecilia,” Alaric instructed.
"Okay,” Cassius nodded.
"Rebecca doesn't seem like someone who can't take a hit,” Alaric's eyes narrowed.
"She wouldn't dare really offend you,” Cassius said bluntly.
Alaric didn't respond.
But he didn't want to risk it with Cecilia.
At 8 PM, Cecilia finished work.
Three days left until the reopening. She had to handle many things personally, like live-streaming sales.
She scheduled a meeting with Lily at 10 AM the next day.
Some details only she could explain.
She stretched and told Augustus, "Time to go.”
Augustus nodded.
They walked out together.
Waiting for the elevator, Cecilia said, "Alaric left Serenovia City today.”
Augustus nodded, "Mr. Whitaker called and told me to take care of you.”
"Where did he go?" Cecilia asked.
"I don't know," Augustus replied, "Mr. Whitaker never tells me his whereabouts."
Cecilia thought that made sense.
"Mrs. Whitaker, if you want to know, you can ask him directly."
"No need, I was just asking casually,"Cecilia smiled.
If she asked Alaric now, it would be awkward.
She had just refused to know his itinerary that afternoon.
Cecilia and Augustus got in the car.
Cecilia leaned tiredly in the back seat, staring out the window.
Her phone rang.
Cecilia glanced at it.
She smiled without realizing it.
She answered, "Alaric."
"I heard you miss me,” Alaric said shamelessly, his voice magnetic and charming.
"Who told you that?"
"Augustus,"Alaric didn't hide it, "He said you wanted to know where I went.”
Cecilia glanced at Augustus.
'When did he tell Alaric?' she thought.
"Where did you go?" Cecilia asked directly.
"Astralton City," Alaric replied.
'Alaric really goes to chase Rebecca.' Cecilia sneered.
"Are you jealous?" Alaric asked, sounding amused.
"No," Cecilia replied.
"I know you're jealous," Alaric insisted.
"I'm not," Cecilia's voice rose. "If you can't bear to treat Rebecca like this, just tell me. We're partners; I won't refuse a small request."
Alaric chuckled.
Cecilia was speechless.
"Cecilia, you probably don't realize it, but you've already fallen for me," Alaric said.
Cecilia was about to lose it.
'Can Alaric stop being so full of himself?' she thought.
"Why else would you be jealous of Rebecca?" Alaric pressed.
"I said I'm not," Cecilia shot back.
"So if I told you I'm with Rebecca right now, would you be happy?" Alaric asked bluntly.
Cecilia's heart skipped a beat.
For a second, she felt a pang of pain.
She knew Alaric was doing it on purpose.
But hearing it still stirred something in her.
Cecilia bit her lip.
She felt heartache and panic.
She couldn't believe it she had fallen for Alaric so quickly.
She had been hurt so deeply by Dominic.
It was impossible to fall for Alaric so easily.
But just thinking about Alaric made her heart race.
"Mrs. Whitaker, watch out!" Augustus suddenly shouted.
Cecilia snapped out of her thoughts.
A car was speeding towards them like a madman.
This was different from the last accident.
Last time, the cars had been tailing them.
This time, it seemed like the car knew their route, waiting for them, and then sped out of a dark alley. By the time they noticed, it was too late to avoid it.
Cecilia felt a violent impact.
The crash echoed in the air.
Her phone slipped from her hand.
She was thrown against the front seat.
Her vision blurred.
She moved her fingers, trying to stay conscious.
She tried to see clearly.
She saw Augustus getting out of the deformed driver's seat.
He seemed covered in blood but still got out.
He started fighting with the people from the other car.
Cecilia forced herself to stay awake.
She didn't know if it was Dominic again.
She only knew she was in great danger.
Whether it was her current physical state or what might happen next, her only chance was to escape now.
She reached for the car door.
When it finally opened, a figure appeared.
Before she could see who it was, she felt a sharp pain in her neck.
She had been trying to stay conscious, but now she passed out.
As she lost consciousness, she told herself she couldn't die.
Not until Dominic, the Kingsley family, and those who wronged her got what they deserved. She couldn't die.
Moreover, Alaric had risked his life to save her.
She couldn't just die like this and let Alaric down.
In that moment, she feared he would be sad.
