Chapter 111 Cease to Aggravate
Daphne had already spotted one of the men she had previously kicked, making his way towards her. Before Kayla's hand could even touch her, Daphne pivoted, delivering a swift roundhouse kick to the man advancing from behind. With a swift motion, she seized the iron rod from his grip. This unexpected maneuver left everyone present in a state of shock."You..." The man's brow furrowed, his gaze fixed on her in disbelief. "Who on earth are you?"Silently, Daphne advanced, the iron rod held firmly in her grasp. The two men exchanged a knowing glances, both aware that their situation would turn dire if they failed to act promptly. With this realization, they swiftly picked up another rod from the ground."We were caught off-guard before, but if you disrobe and lie down over there, we'll let you go," one of the men proposed coldly, presenting a grim ultimatum. "Otherwise, you're in for a world of hurt.""I told you to subdue her, not kill her," Kayla interjected, panic seeping into her voice. She had intended to gain leverage over Daphne, not to cause her harm."Ms. Baker, the moment she retaliated, this became more than just your problem," the man in the khaki jacket sneered. "Step aside, we'll summon you when we're finished."Kayla cast a worried glance at Daphne, "Daphne..."She had not wanted Daphne to get hurt; she merely needed to fulfill someone else's directive. Given the current circumstances, she was powerless to stop them. What was she to do?"Leave," Daphne commanded briefly."They're both seasoned fighters, you're outmatched," Kayla warned, panic creeping into her voice. She couldn't alert the police; if she did, she'd be implicated herself. If she didn't call the police, Daphne was at risk of being beaten to a pulp by these men."Kayla, whose side are you on?" the man in the other black jacket snapped, his patience thinning. "If you desire that information, step outside and wait.""She's Charles' wife, a member of the Lancelot family," Kayla revealed reluctantly, feeling cornered. "If you harm her or disable her, Charles won’t let you off the hook!""Charles’ woman, huh?" the man in the khaki jacket chuckled, a predatory glint in his eyes. "The Lancelots are so wealthy they can’t possibly spend all their money. Perhaps, I should call Charles and demand a billion for her return?""If he refuses to pay, we'll shatter her hands," the other man chimed in grimly. "And if he still doesn’t pay, we'll dispose of her for good.""Sounds like a plan."They both concurred with the proposed scheme.Seized by a bone-chilling realization, Kayla understood that the situation was rapidly spiraling out of control. "You guys are insane!""Kayla, if you don't leave now, you're next." The two men were mere mercenaries; compared to Charles' billion, Kayla’s hundred thousand was insignificant."Daphne, get out of here!" Kayla suddenly stepped in front of Daphne, "Once you're outside, head west. I've parked a car there. You can't afford to get injured."Daphne was bewildered. She couldn't comprehend Kayla's sudden change of heart."Weren’t they summoned by you?" Daphne questioned."I merely wanted to gain leverage over you, I never intended for you to be killed or maimed," Kayla confessed, her lip trembling with fear for the first time. "Hurry up and leave!"If Daphne remained, these men wouldn't dare lay a finger on her. Even if the worst were to occur, she would rather perish there than return to him, to a place far worse than any hell."There's no need," Daphne responded coolly, pushing Kayla behind her. "These two don't intimidate me.""They’ve taken lives…" Kayla warned urgently, her entire being fraught with alarm. "If you confront them...""Enough." Daphne silenced her with sharp tone.
The two men shared a look, a silent understanding passing between them. They felt Daphne was dangerously underestimating their capabilities. Gripping their metal rods, they advanced towards her, their intentions clear."Feisty, aren't you?" one of them sneered, his tone dripping with mockery."Today, both of you stay here. Just our luck, the two of us brothers are in for a treat," he continued, his smirk widening.Meanwhile, Kayla's nails dug into her own flesh, her eyes brimming with intense worry. "Daphne..." she murmured, her voice barely a whisper.Yet, Daphne remained unfazed throughout. The blatant disregard from her was something the two men had never experienced before. Witnessing Daphne's composure, they resolved to subdue her first.Without wasting another moment, they lunged at her.Kayla's heart leapt to her throat, her fear palpable.Just as one man’s club was about to strike the back of Daphne's head, Kayla, driven by some unknown courage and speed, lunged behind her. A resounding "thud" echoed as the club wielded by the man in the black coat landed on Kayla's back.Kayla let out a muffled groan, the pain was unbearable!Fortunately, Daphne had held back her punch, or it would have hit Kayla's face instead of the attacker behind her."What are you doing?" Daphne didn't understand her move."I..." Kayla, pain breaking out in a cold sweat on her forehead, thought that if the club had hit Daphne, it would have hurt just as much."Stay out of it," Daphne pulled Kayla back and coolly spoke, "Don't make things worse."Kayla was dumbfounded. How did Kayla think she was making things worse? She had, after all, blocked a strike for her. Before she could ponder this any further, Daphne demonstrated that she didn't need anyone to take hits for her."Thud!""Thud!"Two quick strikes.Daphne's kicks packed so much power, the men crumpled to the ground, unable to get back up.They couldn't fathom how a girl could possess such strength. And her skills? Were they not a little too impressive?"Kidnap me?" Daphne toyed with the iron club, standing over the men slumped on the ground, and asked in a light tone. The men, finding her formidable, hurriedly admitted defeat: "We were just joking, no harm intended, we're hired by Miss Baker, and of course, we follow her commands."Kayla was puzzled. When had she ordered them to attack Daphne?"Is that so?" Daphne's tone made it hard to gauge her thoughts."Absolutely."They could not be more submissive. They had already planned their revenge for being beaten like this, regardless of whether she was Charles's woman. They had to bring their buddies and hit back!"So, those words about ruining a girl's reputation—did she instruct you to say that, too?" Daphne pushed the iron club between the legs of the man in the black coat. Both men shuddered in fear, their eyes fixed on the club as they gulped. They couldn't fight back.Beg for mercy? This girl didn't seem like the type to forgive easily. What should they do?"I can't stand it when guys bully girls," Daphne said with a fierce kick to the stick placed before her, channeling a considerable amount of force. "If you can’t control your urges, I guess I'll just have to take care of it for you."
