Chapter 731 You Should Reject Him

"Don't you all know him well?" Diana continued, her gaze sweeping over Benjamin and Daphne. "You even praised him before."

"We praised him before because he is highly capable, a rare young talent," Benjamin coaxed his daughter skillfully. "Now we refrain from commenting because he is transitioning from an outsider to family."

To Benjamin and Daphne, it didn't matter what family background Diana's partner came from, as long as he had the right values and no criminal record.

But Diana was their daughter, and they still wanted to see if this person was truly worthy of her. Marriage was a lifelong commitment, and they couldn't accompany Diana for her entire life.

Therefore, when it came to vetting her partner, they had to be extremely thorough.

"Mom," Diana whined to Daphne.

Daphne's stance was the same as Benjamin's, and this time she didn't give in to Diana's whining. "Be good, wait until tomorrow."

Diana then turned her gaze to her brother, hoping he would speak up for her.

"Don't look at me," Louis said bluntly. "You should know I've always been against you two being together."

With that, Daphne and Benjamin both looked at him, clearly surprised by his words.

"Why are you against it?" Daphne asked.

Diana's heart skipped a beat, fearing Louis would reveal Caspian's past.

Her parents were already unpredictable; if that issue came up, they might not let her be with Caspian.

"I'm siding with Lon and her," Louis didn't betray her, finding an excuse. "Lon is gentle, polite, and treats her well, much better than Caspian."

Hearing this, Diana breathed a sigh of relief.

Unbeknownst to her, Benjamin and Daphne noticed her subtle reaction.

They were always observant of everything in life, even if not intentionally, they could still catch small details.

"And I think you should be with Molly," Diana retorted, not wanting to give herself away. "So should you be with her?"

Louis gave her a look: 'Is this how you repay me for helping you?'

Diana looked away. 'Is that called helping? It was clearly stirring up trouble.'

"I remember Mom and Dad never wanted you to marry far away," Louis, being the brother, was indeed good at causing trouble. "Ivrea City and Gedser are thousands of miles apart, it's too far."

Diana was stunned.

"Caspian is quite distant, he probably can't take care of Diana for the rest of her life," Louis told Daphne and Benjamin. "When he comes tomorrow, you should reject him."

"Louis," Diana called out angrily.

Louis remained unmoved.

Daphne and Benjamin didn't get involved in their children's argument.

After dinner, Diana went to find Daphne, hoping to break through from her.

After all, Daphne had always doted on her.

"Mom, when Caspian comes tomorrow, please don't make things difficult for him, okay?" Diana whispered to her on the rooftop, her pretty eyes blinking. "He's really great."

"We won't," Daphne assured. "We just want to understand some things."

Diana paused, then tentatively asked, "You don't care about family background, right?"

"No," Daphne answered quickly.

"Then what do you want to know about Caspian?" Diana probed, thinking she could help him cheat. "I'll see if he meets the standards."

"You'll know tomorrow, your dad and I won't be harsh," Daphne didn't tell her directly. "As long as he treats you well, we have no objections."

"He treats me very well!" Diana defended Caspian.

Daphne rationally told her, "You like him, so naturally you think he's great, but whether he truly is, we need to understand before concluding."

"Mom~" Diana continued to whine.

Daphne patted her head gently. "Be good."

"Okay," Diana didn't press further.

But she couldn't help but overthink.

Meanwhile, in the study downstairs, Benjamin and Louis sat facing each other. Benjamin asked, "Do you know something?"

"About Caspian?" Louis asked.

"Yes," Benjamin replied.

"Not really." Louis didn't betray Diana.

"This afternoon, when your mom asked why you were against it, Diana seemed nervous," Benjamin said, wanting to be responsible for his daughter's future. "She seemed afraid you'd reveal something."

Louis was taken aback. He hadn't expected his parents to be so observant even in that situation.

Benjamin asked again, "Tell me, what do you know?"

"You're overthinking," Louis firmly defended his sister. "I just don't like Diana marrying far away."

"Really?"

"You don't have a sister, so you wouldn't understand."

"If you don't want to say, fine." Benjamin knew he was lying but didn't press further. "You know I can find out."

His words made Louis's heart skip a beat.

If Benjamin really wanted to know about Caspian, he could easily find out.

"Caspian has psychological issues." Louis knew being honest was different from his father finding out, so he said, "But it's not serious, he's seen a doctor, and now Diana has cured him."

Benjamin's eyes lifted slightly.

Louis defended Diana, "It's just a bit of possessiveness and control."

"Got it." Benjamin didn't ask further, already having thoughts in mind.

"Diana really likes him," Louis added before leaving. "I've told her all the risks, but she still insists on her choice."

"Last time you went to Ivrea City, was it because of this?" Benjamin asked.

Louis admitted, "Yes."

"Alright." Benjamin didn't ask further.

Louis was about to leave but, thinking of some things, couldn't let go and returned. "Dad."

Benjamin looked puzzled.

"If you strongly forbid Diana from being with Caspian, she won't go against you," Louis wanted their approval. "But she'll be very sad, and might never get over it."

"Don't try to test me." Benjamin was too smart. "Whether they can be together, we'll decide after meeting him."

Louis was stunned. He knew his father wasn't easy to test.

After leaving the study, he met Diana, and they exchanged information, concluding that their parents were indeed hard to deceive.

They made no progress.

"Do you think Dad will stop me from being with Caspian because of what you told him?" Diana was worried.
