Chapter 511 Show Her When She Grow Up
"Look, the big deal here is, once you join the Murphy Group, Mr. Fisher's got no say over you," Gavin threw Hestia a lifeline.
Gavin was the type to help out, but he didn't stick his nose in everything.
But this time was different. Diana was really into Lon, so he decided to step in.
Gilbert's grip on his phone got real tight, and for the millionth time, he wanted to punch Gavin.
He didn't say a word, just shot Hestia a cold, dead look before bouncing.
Once he left, the room's vibe chilled out.
Hestia was super grateful and said, "Thanks for today. If it wasn't for you, Lon and Noe would've probably been taken by him."
"What I said stands. If he messes with your family or friends' jobs, have them hit up the Murphy Group," Gavin repeated. He really respected Hestia for raising two kids alone.
Hestia hesitated but finally said, "Okay."
"Here's my card." Gavin handed it over. "If he comes back or you need legal help, just holler."
"Thanks," Hestia took the card but didn't plan on bugging Gavin.
Seeing it was getting late, Gavin said, "Remember, we're here if you need anything. We're out."
"Stay for dinner," Hestia offered slowly.
"Nah, we're good," Gavin replied. "Gilbert's probably still waiting downstairs. If I stay too long, who knows what he'll think."
They all ran in the same circles and saw each other a lot.
Everyone could tell what was real and what was just talk.
Hearing this, Hestia didn't push it.
As they were leaving, Diana happily said goodbye to Lon and made plans to hang out again.
In the elevator, Gavin noticed Diana still smiling and was kinda surprised. "Weren't you sad to leave Lon? Why so happy now?"
"Because we helped Lon!" Diana said, all serious.
Helping Lon made her happy.
Gavin smiled and ruffled her hair. "Then keep in touch with Lon. Otherwise, you might lose contact."
"Why?" Diana asked, confused.
"Because Gilbert might take Lon back to the Fisher family," Gavin guessed. "Once they're gone, he probably won't let you see each other."
He'd left his card and said his piece, but he felt Hestia wouldn't really ask for help. She didn't like troubling others.
"Then I'll call Lon every day," Diana said, determined.
Louis asked, "Do you have his number?"
"Yep!" Diana said, grinning.
Gavin and Louis were both puzzled. They hadn't seen that coming.
"When did you get it?" Gavin thought back but couldn't remember when Lon and Diana swapped digits. "How come I didn't know?"
"I used this to exchange info with Lon." Diana pointed to her kids' smartwatch, her voice soft. "I told him to hit me up if he had any trouble."
"You're quick," Gavin said, giving her a playful poke on the forehead.
Diana just grinned.
Seeing her smile, Gavin felt a bit more relaxed.
Hestia might not want to bother them, but Lon knew what was up.
As he was mulling this over, he, Louis, and Diana had already made it outside the apartment complex. Just as he was about to open the car door, Gilbert called out, "Mr. Murphy, can we talk?"
"About what?" Gavin asked, letting Louis and Diana hop in the car first.
It was still pretty hot out.
Gilbert's eyes were sharp, and he got straight to the point. "What'll it take for you to back off?"
"Seriously?" Gavin asked.
Gilbert nodded.
Gavin laid it out, "Normally, I'd stay out of your business. But this is different. Diana's crazy about Lon. If I don't step in, she'll be in tears."
"Is she your daughter?" Gilbert frowned.
He hadn't heard about Gavin getting hitched, so whose kid could make him care so much?
Lydia from the Murphy Group had just gotten married and didn't have kids yet.
"My sister's daughter," Gavin said plainly.
Gilbert felt out of the loop. "Lydia?"
"No, my other sister," Gavin clarified. "Lydia's older sister."
Gilbert frowned even more.
The Murphy Group had only publicly acknowledged Lydia as the second daughter.
There were rumors about the eldest daughter returning, but she never officially showed up, so Gilbert hadn't paid much attention. But now...
"She's low-key. Not many people know about her," Gavin explained. "But Evan's a close friend, the Reynolds Group owner is her husband, and Emma's her good friend."
Gavin didn't mention HorizonTech Group.
Gilbert had been confident, but hearing about the Reynolds Group made him hesitate.
Everyone knew the Reynolds family kept a low profile.
But they had a good relationship with the Smith family.
If he messed with the Murphy Group, it could get messy.
"Also, she really hates jerks," Gavin added. "If she knew about this, she'd be even more involved than I am."
"Lon coming back to the Fisher family won't mess up his relationship with Diana," Gilbert said, stepping back a bit, his voice cold. "They can hang out more and go to the same school."
"Lon doesn't want to go back with you," Gavin said simply.
Seeing the conversation was going nowhere, Gilbert didn't push it.
He knew the only way now was to start with Hestia. If the Murphy family got involved, things would get complicated.
They parted on bad terms.
Back home, Gavin put the matter aside and focused on Louis and Diana.
After dinner, Diana sneaked into her room to call Lon.
Seeing her like this, Louis really wanted to record her and show it to her when she grew up.
