Chapter 339 If You Like Someone, Confess

How did Benjamin make her feel like he was out of touch with society when they first met?

Why did she feel the need to guide him?

"Experience and fit in," Benjamin said seriously. "Even though the Reynolds Group is my family's, if someone clueless like me take over, what do you think the old-timers would say?"

Daphne thought for a moment. They probably wouldn't be too kind to Benjamin.

"Once I get the hang of things and understand management better, I'll go back and take over. It'll be good for both me and the Reynolds Group," Benjamin said in a deep and pleasant voice.

"That makes sense," Daphne agreed.

Benjamin smiled slightly, thinking, 'Daphne, you adorable fool.'

"How about this?" Daphne suggested, trusting him. "After Christmas, you can be the CEO of Horizon Tech Group. Jesse and I will help you. If you can handle Horizon Tech, managing Reynolds Group should be a breeze."

If Reynolds Group was about history, Horizon Tech was all about tech innovation.

Murphy Group and Lancelot Group were diversified, making them industry leaders.

Horizon Tech focused on chip research and had a clear technical edge.

Benjamin declined, "No need."

"Why?" Daphne was puzzled.

"In its position, one must fulfill its duties. I'm not ready to lead Horizon Tech," Benjamin said, not wanting to get too involved. He was there to pursue Daphne. "If you don't mind, let me keep learning from you."

Daphne felt uneasy. Benjamin learning from her? It sounded odd.

They didn't talk much after that.

Daphne kept thinking about how to help Benjamin quickly grasp management and decided to talk to Evan.

Benjamin dropped Daphne off at home at 3 PM.

Daphne wanted him to come in and rest, but Benjamin thought it was better to visit after winning her over.

Alexander and Lydia were at home, watching TV, waiting for her.

Seeing Daphne talking to Benjamin through the car window, Alexander got curious.

"Should we move?" Alexander asked Lydia. "I can't see Benjamin from here."

Lydia said, "He's super handsome!"

"Really?" Alexander asked.

Lydia nodded. "Yes, yes!"

"You've seen him?" Alexander asked.

"Many times. Daphne and I often go to his place for meals,", Lydia said.

Alexander thought, 'How do I not know?'

He tried to find a good angle but couldn't. "Do you think he meets Daphne's criteria for a partner?"

"In the past, definitely 100%," Lydia said, her eyes twinkling. "Now, I'm not sure."

"Why?" Alexander asked.

"Because of Charles," Lydia said.

Alexander was puzzled. "What do you mean?"

"In terms of looks, temperament, and voice, both are perfect." Lydia explained. "But Daphne failed with Charles and now isn't interested in love. For someone not interested in love, there are no criteria for a partner."

Alexander sighed deeply, worried.

While Alexander and Lydia were chatting, Benjamin urged Daphne to head inside.

After changing her shoes, Daphne noticed them by the window and asked, "What are you two doing?"

Lydia said, "Checking out the future brother-in-law."

Alexander added, "Scoping out the future son-in-law."

They both felt a bit embarrassed after blurting that out. Alexander quickly clarified, "I mean, he treats you well and could be a potential son-in-law."

Daphne, heading upstairs, said, "He's just my team leader." Then she went to her room to change.

When she came back down, Lydia rushed over with an innocent smile. "Daphne, how did it go pretending to be a girlfriend today?"

Daphne replied, "Not bad."

Lydia asked, "Will you do it again?"

Daphne shook her head. "No, it's not good to keep lying."

Lydia and Alexander exchanged a glance.

Alexander felt it was time to clue Daphne in about something. "Daphne."

"Yes?" She responded.

"I need to talk to you. Are you free now?" Alexander asked.

"Go ahead," Daphne said.

"I think Benjamin likes you," Alexander said cautiously, "Like, in a romantic way."

Daphne was puzzled. Had Alexander and Benjamin even met?

Alexander seemed to read her mind. "Even though I haven't met him, from a man's perspective, asking you to pretend to be his girlfriend shows he likes you."

"You're overthinking," Daphne said calmly.

Alexander felt a bit hurt. "You don't believe me?"

"Nowadays, lots of young people ask others to pretend to be their partners. Some even pay for it if they can't find anyone," Daphne said indifferently. "Times are different now. Don't overthink it."

How did this become about the times?

Alexander asked, "Why do you think it's about the times?"

"In your day, people were too shy to express their feelings directly." Daphne explained. "But now, if someone likes someone, they just confess. No need for pretending."

Besides, she and Benjamin could talk about anything without needing to get closer.

"If you like someone, you'd just say it?" Alexander asked.

"Yes," Daphne said honestly.

"Aren't you afraid that if the confession fails, you won't even be friends?" Lydia chimed in.

Daphne was genuinely confused. "Why wouldn't we be able to be friends?"

Lydia and Alexander were speechless. They realized Charles had been incredibly lucky.

Even after a marriage, Daphne's feelings were still so pure. If it had required her to be moved to be together, Charles probably wouldn't have succeeded in a lifetime.

"If you truly like someone, you'd be a bit cautious," Lydia said seriously, "If you don't confess, you're afraid of missing out. If you do, you're afraid that after failing, you won't even be friends and will drift apart."

Daphne frowned, still finding it complicated. In her view, if you like someone, you confess. If you fail, you move on. No big deal.
