Chapter 259 Pointing at Daphne
"I suggest you let me go now, or when the cops show up, you won't be able to escape," Daphne said, sticking to the usual kidnapping script. "I've been missing for twenty-four hours. My family will report me missing."
Nina cleared her throat.
Daphne glanced sideways.
Nina's eyes darted around, and she scratched her face. "Your family probably won't look for you."
"What do you mean?" Daphne pretended not to know.
"I used your Facebook Messenger to send messages to your dad and sister, saying you were going on a trip for a few days and not to worry," Nina said, feeling a bit nervous.
She wasn't sure if Daphne would hate her. She really liked her!
Daphne kept up the act. "Give me back my phone."
"I didn't take your phone. I operated it remotely," Nina explained.
Daphne started to act angry.
But deep down, she knew Nina could access her phone because she had given her permission. Otherwise, with her sharpness, she would have noticed that Nina was k.
Kayla watched the scene, a bit shocked by Daphne's acting skills.
Clearly, she was a very capable person, but she played the weakling quite convincingly.
"Kayla," Michael suddenly spoke.
Kayla was startled and still afraid of him. "What is it?"
"Your grandma and brother are now under my men's control." Michael suddenly changed the subject for some reason. "If you tell me where k is, I'll let them go. Otherwise, they will die."
Kayla instinctively wanted to look at Daphne. Before she could, she forced herself to lower her eyes. She knew that if she looked at Daphne, Michael would definitely suspect her.
Daphne also broke into a cold sweat. She seemed to glance casually, but in reality, she was ready to act at any moment.
Fortunately, Kayla was reliable.
"I really don't know who k is." Kayla shook her head, her eyes filled with panic.
Michael asked, "Are you still lying to me?"
Kayla denied. "I'm not!"
"It seems your nature hasn't changed in the past two years." Michael's palm rested on her face. The gentle action made her shiver all over. "You're still the same; only when you have no way out will you tell the truth."
Kayla's heart tightened.
Michael made a call in front of her. "Take her grandma away."
"No!" Kayla rushed to grab his phone, her voice breaking.
Michael had already hung up. His eyes were extremely cold. "Disobedient pets can be killed at any time, understand?"
Tears welled up in Kayla's eyes. She wanted to kill him with all her might but feared that if she angered him, her grandma and brother would also die.
"If you don't tell me where k is, your brother will be the next to die." Michael always used the gentlest tone to say the most terrifying things.
Kayla's tears fell. "I've really never seen k!"
Michael's phone lit up.
Kayla became even more nervous.
The next moment, she saw a photo that made her gasp.
Her pupils contracted as she stared at the photo on Michael's phone of someone shot through the heart. Her mind went blank!
"What did you do to my grandma!" Kayla grabbed his phone, frantically pulling at his collar.
Michael said nothing; he just glanced at her. His cold gaze made her shiver and feel icy all over.
Kayla didn't know what to do.
Daphne had said she could trust her, but now her grandmother was dead. What should she do?
Daphne also saw the photo.
Although it looked very real, a gunshot wound wouldn't look like that. The real scene would be different. She was sure Kayla's grandma and brother were safe.
Before she was kidnapped, she had mentioned this to Benjamin, fearing Michael might lose control and do something unpredictable. No one Benjamin protected had ever been harmed.
Michael's men couldn't reach that place, let alone bring guns in.
However, in this situation, she couldn't convey this information to Kayla.
Michael's sharp eyes would even notice a glance.
"You have one more chance to think about it." Michael removed her hand from his clothes, not angry at all. "Your brother's life is in your hands. You have one minute to decide."
Hearing these words, Kayla felt like she was in an ice cave.
It was as if she was back in the days in the basement, cold, desperate, with no hope for the future.
She had repaid Daphne with her grandma's life.
Tears streamed down Kayla's face. She bit her lip, looking at Michael, wanting to see how cold-blooded he could be.
"If I tell you, will you let my brother go?" Kayla's voice was light, as if it would break with a touch.
Michael looked up at her. "That's right."
k would never miss this opportunity.
However, since Daphne was kidnapped, there had been no news of k.
This was too unusual.
Even if K could have hacked the surveillance, some places would have been full of his people. There was no reason not to find her.
If he didn't find k in advance, he was really worried she would ruin his plans. He hated unexpected situations the most.
Nina and Daphne both watched the commotion.
Nina had no emotional reaction, treating it as a farce. Daphne's right palm held a custom-made small card.
Daphne watched them. If Kayla revealed her, she wouldn't blame her.
Michael was best at tormenting people's minds. Kayla was easily swayed and didn't know what a gunshot wound should look like. It was natural for her to think her grandma was really in trouble.
However, if she revealed herself and Michael targeted her, she would have to hurt him and take him hostage immediately.
She couldn't escape. There were too many of Michael's men on this ship, all highly skilled.
"How do I know you'll keep your promise?" Kayla was still struggling inside.
She wanted to protect her brother's life, but she didn't want Daphne to get hurt either.
What should she do?
"You have no other choice." Michael sat there, glancing at his watch. "You have three seconds left. If you don't speak, your brother will say goodbye to you forever."
"Three."
"Two."
Kayla listened to the countdown, her mind in agony, thinking about what to do.
Before she could decide, Michael mercilessly said the last number. "One."
Michael said coldly, "Looks like you want to say goodbye to your brother..."
"It's her." Kayla suddenly pointed at Daphne, her eyes flickering with emotion. She emphasized again. "She is k."
