Chapter 403 Do You Really Want to Watch a Show?

"I'll count to three. If you don't move your car, I'm calling a tow truck," Daphne said, not giving a damn.

Austin was fuming. How could she just ignore him like that?

"Just this once. If you let me in, I'll say sorry for what I said earlier," Austin pleaded.

Daphne didn't even blink. "Three."

Wait, what? Already?

She didn't even look at him, just pulled out her phone to make the call.

"Fine, I'll move it!" Austin spat through clenched teeth.

Seeing him get in his car, Daphne put her phone away, hopped into her own ride, and took off.

After a bit, she noticed Austin tailing her.

She frowned, thinking he was as annoying as a mosquito.

She timed it perfectly at the traffic light, leaving Austin stuck at the red while she cruised through.

Austin glared at her car as it vanished, cursing her in his head. Sneaky woman! She was faster than a speeding bullet.

Daphne kept driving. One red light was all it took to lose him.

But she never expected to see him again when she pulled into her apartment's underground parking.

She was stunned. How was Austin such a good tracker?

"Staring at me won't help," Austin said casually as she got out of her car.

Daphne looked him over. "How'd you know I live here?"

"I didn't at first," Austin admitted. "But I found out Charles used to live with you, so I dug into his past and figured it out."

Daphne wanted to ask how he got in, but then she remembered seeing a shadow in her rearview mirror when she entered. He must've told the guard he was with her.

"So what if you know?" Daphne said coolly. "I'm not taking you to see Daisy."

At such a crucial time, she couldn't risk anything happening to Daisy or bring any trouble.

Besides, a proper ex should be as good as invisible.

Austin and Daisy were divorced; no need for him to show up again.

"If you don't take me, I'll stick to you," Austin said shamelessly. "I know all your info. If you call the cops, I'll say it's a domestic issue."

"Suit yourself," Daphne said, planning to ignore him. If Austin could handle Benjamin's presence, she'd give him props for persistence.

Austin was thrown off. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. Given Daphne's personality, shouldn't she be beating him up by now?

If she hit him, he could threaten her with assault charges, and she'd have to take him to see Daisy to protect her rep. But now she was letting him do whatever?

Wondering if this was another of Daphne's tricks, he watched as she locked her car and headed for the elevator, quickly following.

Daphne shot him a cold glance but said nothing.

The elevator went up, and when it reached the right floor, Daphne got out with Austin right behind.

Daphne headed straight to Benjamin's apartment and knocked on the door, already rehearsing what to say.

Austin was puzzled. Why was she knocking on her own door? Did her family live here too?

The thought made him second-guess following her. If there were elders around, how would he explain why he was tailing her?

Daphne knocked a few times with no answer. Then she knocked on her own apartment door, and after just two knocks, it swung open.

Benjamin, tall and handsome, stood there.

Austin frowned. Who was this guy? A neighbor?

"Baby, I've been stalked," Daphne said seriously, even switching up her term of endearment. "It's him."

Both Benjamin and Austin were thrown by the "baby" thing.

"What do you mean stalked? Don't make it sound so creepy," Austin quickly said, trying to clear things up. "I just want you to take me to see Daisy."

Daphne ignored him, and so did Benjamin.

Benjamin handed Daphne a pair of shoes to change into, all gentle and attentive.

He wasn't worried because Evan had mentioned Austin when they talked about Daphne's past, and his secretary had filled him in on the details.

Knowing Austin's purpose, he understood it wasn't really stalking.

But if Daphne said it was stalking, then it was stalking.

After Daphne changed her shoes, Benjamin looked at Austin with his deep, dark eyes and said in a calm but firm voice, "Sir, will you leave on your own, or should I call security to escort you out?"

Austin frowned. Who was this guy? Why was he so intimidating?

"What does this have to do with you?" Austin snapped.

"She's my girlfriend. What do you think?" Benjamin said coolly. "If you don't leave, I won't hesitate to personally escort you out."

Austin's eyes darted around. He was trained and wasn't afraid of a fight. The problem was, Daphne was close to Daisy, and he couldn't beat her! If she saw her boyfriend losing and decided to help, what could he do then?

Austin suddenly had an idea and asked, "Do you dare to fight me?"

Benjamin said nothing.

Austin continued, "Let's have a fight. If I win, you let Daphne take me to see Daisy. If you win, I'll leave immediately."

Since he was going to be kicked out anyway, he might as well give it a shot.

If he won, he could see Daisy.

However, Benjamin refused, "No."

"Afraid to lose?" Austin taunted.

"It's not about losing. If you win, I can't fulfill your request," Benjamin said seriously and nonchalantly. "In our home, she makes the decisions. At most, I can talk to her for you, but I can't make her agree."

Austin's eyes flashed with a hint of disdain. So he was a man who relied on a woman. Since when did Daphne like this type?

"I agree," Daphne said, wanting to see Austin get beaten up. "If you can beat Benjamin, I'll take you to see Daisy from a distance."

Benjamin raised an eyebrow. Did Daphne really want to watch a show?

"You promise," Austin said confidently.
