Chapter 675 Growing Up Unconsciously
Louis glanced towards the door and saw Lon standing there with a mix of complex expressions on his innocent face.
"Lon?" Diana spoke up.
"Can I come in?" Lon hesitated.
Diana jumped down from her chair, still in a good mood. "Of course you can."
Lon walked over slowly.
Under the watchful eyes of Diana and Louis, Lon adjusted his mindset and apologized, "I'm sorry."
Diana paused for a moment.
Louis was also slightly surprised.
"It was my fault before. I shouldn't have said those things to make you uncomfortable, and I definitely shouldn't have wanted the gift that was meant for you," Lon admitted his mistake, though he had acted impulsively at the time. "Can you forgive me?"
Diana didn't expect the apology to come so quickly. Almost instantly, she nodded. "Yes."
"Thank you." Lon felt a sense of relief. After all, he considered himself Diana's older brother.
As an older brother, he shouldn't be so petty, nor should he do hurtful things.
"Can you take these things home?" Diana still hoped Lon would take them, as she had sincerely asked Charles to prepare them for him. "Although I didn't pick them out myself, I asked Charles to help me. I was afraid what I chose wouldn't be special enough."
"Okay." Lon nodded.
Diana wasn't one to hold grudges. As long as the other person admitted their mistake sincerely, she could forgive quickly. "Really?"
"Yeah," Lon responded lightly.
Diana smiled.
The two kids played together for the rest of the afternoon.
Diana didn't tell Lon about the gift she was preparing for him. She planned to give it to him during the New Year and formally apologize.
That evening, as they were about to have dinner, Lon watched Diana place a wooden doll in her pink box, and he felt a surge of emotion. "Diana."
"Yes?"
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Go ahead," Diana responded naturally.
"If you could only choose between me and Caspian," Lon bit his lip, his expression complicated, "who would you choose?"
Diana was very confused. "Why can I only choose one?"
Didn't Daphne say she could have many friends?
"I'm just saying if." Lon urgently wanted an answer.
Diana shook her head. "I don't know."
Lon's beautiful eyes showed a hint of barely noticeable disappointment. In the past, Diana would always choose him without hesitation, but now...
Even though Diana didn't give an answer, Lon already knew.
"Lon, can you not ask me such questions in the future?" Diana felt troubled by this and spoke quite directly.
"Got it." Lon felt a complex mix of emotions.
For adults, choosing between equally important people was difficult, let alone for someone as pure-hearted as Diana.
After that day, Lon continued to chat with Diana as usual.
During the New Year, Diana gave Lon the gift she had prepared and apologized for her previous inconsiderate actions. The two kids seemed to return to their initial state.
Time flew by.
Lon started elementary school, and Louis also attended the best school in Gedser, becoming the youngest in his class.
As for Diana, she continued attending her preschool as usual.
Time passed quickly, and soon it was Diana's turn to start elementary school.
Before Diana chose her school, Lon came to her several times, hoping she would attend the same school as him. Diana refused without hesitation, choosing the same elementary school as Louis.
Louis had undoubtedly played a part in this decision.
It was summer vacation.
Seeing Louis's packed schedule of courses, interest classes, and one-on-one tutoring, Diana felt sad. "Louis."
"Yes?" Louis was deeply engrossed in his studies.
"Can you not study so hard?" Diana, now six years old and understanding more, asked, "Didn't we agree to go out and play during the summer vacation?"
"I've set aside three days." Louis circled a date on his schedule.
Diana puffed her cheeks. What could they do in just three days?
Looking at Louis's packed schedule and her relatively free one, Diana felt a bit guilty.
They were both Benjamin and Daphne's children, so why was there such a big difference between her and Louis?
"If you're bored, you can go to Ivrea City to find Caspian," Louis suggested, showing no interest in playing and being very self-disciplined. "Charles called Mom a few days ago to ask if you were going there for the summer."
"No." Diana shook her head.
Louis paused and looked at her.
She had been clamoring to go to Ivrea City before, so why refuse now?
"I'm going to get something to eat," Diana, growing cuter by the day, stood up naturally. "You keep studying."
After going downstairs, Diana sat in the yard, a bit dazed. In preschool, she could play without worries, but now her classmates were all studying so hard.
Diana didn't dare to play anymore.
About ten minutes later, Daphne and Benjamin returned.
Diana immediately stood up and ran over, rushing into Daphne's arms. After hugging for a while, she suddenly spoke, "Mom, can you hire some tutors for me?"
Daphne and Benjamin were extremely surprised, not expecting Diana to bring this up.
"Why do you suddenly want tutoring?" Daphne asked.
"There's a test at the beginning of the next semester, covering the content we'll learn next term," Diana explained. "All my classmates are getting tutored. What if I come in last if I don't?"
Diana's grades were currently among the top, but her classmates were studying too hard. No one knew what could happen over a summer vacation.
"It doesn't matter," Daphne rubbed her head. "I can take care of you."
In theory, she should encourage good study habits, but Daphne had worked hard in the past to provide a stable future for her family and children, so they wouldn't have to worry too much.
"I want tutors," Diana said seriously. "I want to be as excellent as Louis."
"Alright," Daphne supported her child's ambition, holding her hand as they walked inside. "I will choose some tutors with your dad for you later. You can try a session, and if it works, we'll schedule more."
