Chapter 450 This is a Bit Complicated

Benjamin was their go-to guy.

Everyone had faith in him, but if he messed up, they wouldn't think twice about calling him out.

Jesse just grunted in response.

After hitting the airport, Jesse and Daphne hopped on the plane together. Once they landed, they checked into the same hotel.

Daphne snapped a pic and sent it to Benjamin, letting him know they made it to the hotel and were ready to crash. She also asked what he was up to.

Meanwhile, Benjamin was at the airport.

He was about to board when he saw Daphne's message and paused before replying.

Benjamin: [At the airport. Off on a business trip.]

Daphne: [What for?]

Benjamin: [Company stuff. Don’t worry, I’ll be back before you know it.]

Daphne: [okay.]

They said their goodbyes and stopped chatting.

Daphne, wiped out from the long flight, ended the convo and hit the sack.

The next morning, she got up and handled her own stuff, while Jesse went off for some business meetings.

.

They split up their tasks and agreed to call each other once they were done, so they could head back to Gedser together.

That day, Daphne first met with the custom ring designer. Seeing that the rings were almost done, she didn't ask for any changes. Both rings looked awesome, and they agreed she could pick them up in ten days. Daphne then headed back to the hotel to chill.

She planned to explore the area over the next ten days to scout for cool honeymoon spots. But all that got messed up by a call from Gavin.

Around eight that night, Daphne was eating alone when Gavin called and said in a mysterious tone, "Daphne, can I ask you something?"

"What?" Daphne replied.

"Do you know what Benjamin's been up to lately?" Gavin asked.

"No. What's up?" Daphne asked.

"I need to meet with him to discuss something," Gavin said.

"He should be busy right now," Daphne replied while munching, not sensing anything weird. "He left for a business trip last night. I'll let you know when he's back."

Gavin went silent.

Daphne waited a bit but heard nothing.

She asked again, "What's up?"

"Do you know why he's on this business trip?" Gavin asked, standing on the restaurant balcony. He watched a guy and a girl inside laughing and chatting, his brow furrowing slightly.

How could he tell Daphne that Benjamin was laughing and chatting with a woman while holding a ring? Was this a business trip?

"Company stuff, maybe," Daphne replied, picking up on something off in Gavin's tone. "Are you in a hurry? If so, I can call him."

"Call him, preferably a video call," Gavin said, waiting for Daphne to hang up.

He stayed to watch, just in case he was wrong.

Benjamin seemed like a good guy, not the type to cheat. He couldn't jump to conclusions without being sure and needed to see more.

While Gavin waited, Benjamin checked his phone, typed a few words, and put it down.

At the same time, Gavin got a message from Daphne.

Daphne: [He's in a meeting. He'll call me after ten.]

Gavin's brow furrowed even more, and just then, something even more infuriating happened!

Benjamin opened a box, took out a woman's ring, and handed it to the woman across from him.

The woman seemed surprised but slipped the ring on her finger.

Seeing this, Gavin was livid.

He snapped a photo of the scene, ready to send it to Daphne, but hesitated at the last moment.

'No, I can't send it now,' he thought, and then hit the back button.

He decided to confront Benjamin first and then talk to Daphne.

Gavin kept watching as the woman admired the ring with a gentle smile.

Anyone seeing this would think they were a loving couple.

After a while, Gavin went to the parking lot and waited in his car.

Benjamin would have to pass by here when he left the restaurant.

Half an hour later, Gavin was fuming in his car, almost ready to drag Benjamin out and beat him up.

Gwendolyn called him several times, but he ignored her and told her to go back first.

Five minutes later, Benjamin finally came out of the restaurant.

He was laughing and chatting with the woman, exuding his usual laid-back charm.

Gavin couldn't control his emotions. As the woman drove away, he got out of his car and greeted warmly, "Benjamin? What a coincidence. You're here too."

Benjamin paused, then greeted him in a low voice, "Gavin."

"Here on a business trip?" Gavin said, glancing at the restaurant and walking up to him.

"Not exactly," Benjamin said, not expecting to see Gavin here. "Just handling some matters. I'll be back in a few days."

"Really?" Gavin said bitterly.

He thought, 'He told Daphne it was for business, but now he says it's just handling some matters. Liar!'

Benjamin sensed Gavin's change in mood but didn't think much of it. "Yeah. Are you here on a business trip?"

"Yes," Gavin said, taking out his phone, ready to confront him. "But I stumbled upon something that left me unsure of what to do."

Benjamin asked, "What is it?"

"I saw a friend's husband with another woman, being very affectionate," Gavin said, unlocking his phone, setting the stage. "I'm wondering if I should tell my friend."

"If it were me, as long as I was sure it was true, I would tell," Benjamin suggested.

Gavin opened the photo and showed it to him, saying, "Then help me with this. See if it's true or not."

As soon as he said it, Benjamin saw the photo. It was him and the designer he had just met.

In an instant, Benjamin understood.

"There's been a misunderstanding," Benjamin said, calm and rational, as he glanced around and raised an eyebrow. "Let's find a place to talk. This is a bit complicated."
