Chapter 248 Have You Forgotten Who Taught You?
"I know," Daphne replied calmly.
Benjamin glanced at her several times before finally starting the car and following her. He knew Daphne was definitely hiding something from him.
In the following time, they ate, rested, and then went home separately.
Normally, they would have had a drink, but Benjamin refused.
He knew Daphne couldn't hold her liquor well, and if she got drunk, he wouldn't be able to resist trying to get information out of her.
He didn't want to find out her secrets that way.
After nine o'clock in the evening, Daphne went back with Benjamin and took her computer before leaving.
When they got home, Daphne was about to open the door and go inside when she remembered the contract and said to Benjamin, "Benjamin, just go directly to HorizonTech Group after you wake up tomorrow. I'll have Jesse handle everything for you."
"Okay," Benjamin responded.
Then Daphne went into her room.
She didn't go to rest immediately because of what had happened today. Instead, she went to her study.
She opened her dedicated computer, wrote down what had happened at Kayla's place today, and circled the letter "k."
Being able to guess that she had modified Kayla's phone system easily. It meant that this person was very familiar with her style.
Even Kevin couldn't guess that.
Except for her students.
After sorting things out, Daphne's fingers tapped on the computer, and a dialog box appeared.
She sent a message: [It's you, isn't it, Nina?]
At this moment, abroad.
A stunning and stylish long-haired woman raised an eyebrow when she saw the message. She took her computer outside and said to the man playing with a wine glass on the sofa, "She messaged me."
The man asked, "Who?"
She replied, "The person who taught me hacking, k."
The man's movements paused.
Nina handed over the computer and explained, "This is our special way of communicating."
"Reply to her; try to get information out of her, and find out where she is now," the man said with a deep smile.
"I'll try," Nina replied.
She placed the computer on the table and sent a message: [I really can't hide anything from you. Why did you tamper with Kayla's phone?]
Daphne looked at the message and came clean: [You know best, don't you?]
Nina: [Know what?]
Daphne: [Whoever you're helping, I'm going to catch.]
Nina's typing paused, and she relayed the message to the man.
The man was indifferent, but his eyes were deep. "If she could catch me, she would have done it years ago."
Nina sent the message back.
Daphne: [Stop now before you commit any crimes, or when I catch him, I'll catch you too.]
Nina: [You're in Crestwood, aren't you?]
Daphne looked at the message, opened a satellite map on the web, found their location, and sent a screenshot.
After sending it, she replied: [It seems your skills haven't improved much; you can't even tell the difference between a virtual IP and a real IP.]
This made Nina, sitting in front of the computer, frown.
How could it be?
"She knows we're here," Nina said with a hint of seriousness.
The man was not surprised at all. "She's k; it's normal for her to know. It doesn't matter; even if she knows, she can't come here to catch me."
Nina felt a bit defeated.
She had been studying hard and making breakthroughs for the past three years; why couldn't she keep up with her?
She felt both frustrated and genuinely impressed.
K was indeed very skilled.
Nina: [How did you break through my virtual IP to find my real location?]
Daphne's reply was a reality check: [Have you forgotten who taught you?]
Nina felt defeated again.
She sent another message: [Honestly, if he hadn't told me k was a woman, I would still think you're a messy guy eating hamburger.]
Daphne's eyes deepened at this message.
She knew who he was referring to.
During that mission, although she had disguised herself, it was still clear whether she was a man or a woman.
Her code name at the time was k.
Daphne didn't continue chatting with her. She cut off the conversation and injected her computer and server with a virus.
After finishing this, she shut down the computer and went to wash up and sleep. The virus she just planted would keep them busy for a while, and Kayla would be safe for now.
As for Nina.
Seeing the virus on her computer, she propped her head up. "K really is ruthless, not even sparing my computer."
The man asked, "What happened?"
"My computer got a virus, and the server in the room is infected too," Nina said, not seeming angry at all, "The database was attacked, and all the data is gone."
The man frowned slightly. "You're not joking?"
Nina said, "Would I joke about something like this?"
The man asked, "Didn't you say your computer was very secure?"
Nina said, "That was before I pissed her off."
Nina added, "Give me half a month, and I'll try to crack it and recover as much as possible."
In the blink of an eye, the next day it arrived.
After her vacation, Daphne got up early to go to work.
When she arrived, Jesse had already prepared her task list for the day and organized all the documents that needed to be signed.
After reviewing them, Daphne handed him the contract prepared for Benjamin. "Someone will come to report later. Take him to the HR department to complete the process."
"Okay," Jesse replied, taking the contract and flipping through it as he usually did when screening personnel for her.
He was about to get busy when he paused at the salary and position section.
Daphne opened a document and was about to sign it when she saw the usually calm Jesse frowning as if he had encountered a monumental problem.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
Jesse pointed to the position section of the document. "You're hiring him as a special assistant?"
Daphne said, "Yes."
Jesse said, "Ms. Daphne."
Daphne asked, "What is it?"
Jesse said, "I can handle everything myself. I can take care of everything for you. You don't need to spend extra money hiring someone else."
"I know." Daphne was very confident in Jesse's abilities. "but you're too tired. Hiring him will help share some of the workload."
Jesse didn't say anything.
She put down her pen and looked at him with her beautiful eyes.
Just as she was about to reassure him further, Jesse spoke up, "Are you planning to abandon me?"
"No," Daphne said honestly.
Jesse stood there, looking cool and aloof, stubbornly meeting Daphne's gaze.
Daphne felt a bit troubled.
Logically, Jesse shouldn't feel threatened.
He had so many shares in HorizonTech Group that he would never have to worry about money for the rest of his life, even if he didn't work.
Why was he so concerned about a special assistant position?
"Actually, he's my friend," Daphne said honestly, "He's changing careers and doesn't know what to do, so I asked him to try working with me. After a month, I'll find another suitable job for him."
