Chapter 509 Sending Lon Home

On the way to drop Lon off, Diana kept yapping away with him.

As they were about to pull up, she kept bugging him, "Lon, you gotta come over to my place next time you're free, okay?"

"Sure," Lon nodded.

"Cool, then my mom can show you some hacking tricks." Diana knew exactly what would get Lon's attention, sharp as a tack. "Once you get the hang of it, you'll totally be able to keep up with Louis."

Louis shot her a look, surprised she didn't say Lon could beat him this time.

Lon hesitated for a sec, then nodded. "Alright."

The car rolled up to Lon's place a little after 5:40.

Gavin always figured Lon was some kid being groomed by a big-shot family, given how smart he was at just five and his mad hacking skills.

But when they got there, it was just a regular old apartment complex.

"Let's roll," Gavin said to Louis and Diana, taking the lead. "Let's get Lon home."

Diana hopped out of the car and grabbed Lon's hand.

Lon wanted to pull away at first, but seeing Diana's bright eyes, he couldn't say no.

They lived in apartment No.5 on the 18th floor.

Lon used his fingerprint to unlock the door and walked in.

He expected to see his mom, Hestia Smith, but instead, there was a guy in the living room. 'Gilbert Fisher? What is he doing here?'

"What's up, Lon?" Diana asked, worried when he froze.

"Nothing," Lon said, biting his lip. "Can I invite you guys in for a drink to thank you for today?"

Diana didn't hesitate, "Sure!"

As they were talking, footsteps came from inside, and soon Hestia, who was beautiful and gentle, walked out. She paused when she saw Gavin and the others. "Lon, who are they?"

"I was hanging at their place today," Lon glanced inside and said obediently. "This is Gavin, and these are Diana and Louis."

"Hey there, sorry for any trouble Lon caused," Hestia greeted them, looking a bit uneasy. "I'd invite you in, but it's not a good time. Sorry."

"No worries," Gavin said casually. "Since Lon's home safe, we'll get out of your hair."

Gavin then looked at Louis and Diana. "Louis, Diana, say goodbye to Auntie and Lon."

"But..." Diana hesitated.

Didn't Lon just invite them in for a drink? Aren't they gonna have it?

"Let's head home," Louis said bluntly.

"Okay." Diana drooped her head, bummed but obedient. "Auntie, Lon, bye. I'll come over when you're free."

"Aren't you coming in and chilling for a bit?" Lon's lively demeanor from the afternoon was gone, replaced by a more reserved and quiet one.

Diana, Gavin, and Louis all looked confused.

Hestia's eyes showed a hint of anxiety. "Lon."

"Mom, let them in." Lon's eyes were complicated. "If I'm not mistaken, Mr. Fisher is here to take my brother and me away today, right?"

Hestia's body went rigid, then she forced a smile to comfort him, "Don't sweat it. I won't let him take you away."

Lon didn't say a word. He knew if Gilbert really wanted to take him and his brother, Noe Fisher, Hestia couldn't stop him. After all, he was their biological dad.

"Gavin, I need a favor," Lon finally spoke up after thinking it over. "The guy inside is our biological father, but he hasn't given a damn about us or our mom for the past five years."

Gathering his courage, Lon said, "If you can, I want you to pretend my mom is your sister."

"Lon," Hestia scolded, clearly not wanting to drag others into their mess.

Lon ignored her and continued, "If you say my mom is your sister, he might think twice before trying to take us. But if it's too much trouble, forget it."

"He's just a kid. Don't mind him," Hestia said, not wanting to burden anyone, especially with such a complicated issue.

Gavin paused and asked one question, "Are you two married?"

If they were, he wouldn't get involved.

"No," Lon answered before Hestia could. "They were engaged through an arranged marriage. My mom got pregnant with us by accident, and he thought she tricked him, so he wanted her to abort us. It was my mom who threatened the doctor with her life to keep us."

These were things his uncle had told them. If Hestia hadn't threatened the doctor with her life, they wouldn't be here.

After that incident, Hestia pretended the kids were aborted, broke off the engagement with Gilbert, and moved to another city.

They only came back this year, thinking they should follow the domestic education system, but ran into Gilbert as soon as they returned.

"Got it." Gavin's voice was low and calm.

Gavin always hated scumbags! He hated even more those who got someone pregnant and then forced them to have an abortion.

"I'm kinda tired from standing," Gavin, who was good-looking, spoke with a gentle smile. "Mind if we go in for a glass of water?"

"Gavin..." Hestia's face showed a complex expression, clearly not wanting to involve an innocent person. "This isn't as simple as you think. If you get involved, you might lose your job."

She knew how ruthless Gilbert could be. A friend who had helped her before was made jobless by him.

In this town, no one really dared to go against him.

"If possible, I'd actually like to lose my job," Gavin's thin lips moved slightly, speaking the truth. "Working is pretty exhausting."

Hestia hesitated, about to persuade him again.

A cold, emotionless voice came from inside. "Since you've called people over, don't just stand at the door."

"Let's go." Gavin remained calm. "Don't keep people waiting."

Hestia was truly anxious.

But Gavin was cool as a cucumber.
