Chapter 673 I Am a Rule-Abiding Good Person

Benjamin's lips curled into a smile, his casual tone carrying a hint of teasing, "It's normal for rivals in love to hate each other, but I don't hate you."

"Why?" Charles thought he was pretending.

"Because I have a wife," Benjamin concluded.

Charles felt a sudden impulse, something he had always wanted to do but never did. "Let's set a time after the New Year and have a fight."

"Not appropriate," Benjamin refused. "It's not fair."

Benjamin was a professional, and even after so many years of retirement from the military, some things were still deeply ingrained. Fighting Charles would be like bullying him.

"You think I can't beat you?" Charles asked calmly.

"Yes, you should know what I used to do. This kind of competition is unfair to you." Benjamin was a straightforward person and was very aware of his own shortcomings. "Just like I can't beat you in business."

In that area, Charles was very skilled, and Benjamin couldn't compare.

"If you really want to compete, we can try something that doesn't involve fighting," Benjamin said slowly, speaking quite directly. "Like chess, e-sports, or sports."

"You're not afraid of losing?" Charles, seeing his calm demeanor, couldn't help but speculate more.

Benjamin poured himself a glass of water. "That depends on what the stakes are."

"Daphne."

"Who?"

"If you lose, Daphne is mine," Charles repeated, locking his gaze on him. "If you win, the Lancelot Group is yours."

Benjamin put down his cup and called out in Daphne's direction, "Daphne."

"What's up?" Daphne brought over two glasses of freshly squeezed juice, placing them in front of each according to their preferences.

"Mr. Lancelot wants to bet with me." Benjamin betrayed him without batting an eye.

Daphne glanced at both of them. "Bet on what?"

"Bet on you. If I lose, you go to him," Benjamin said it all, his tone still gentle. "If he loses, the Lancelot Group is mine."

"Childish," Daphne said.

Charles' thin lips pressed into a straight line, wanting to explain to her.

He said the bet just to test if Benjamin cared about Daphne, but he didn't expect Benjamin to betray him right in front of him.

"Don't bet with him," Daphne's gaze fell on Charles, showing no signs of anger. "He has many tricks up his sleeve. Even if you're very smart, you might lose."

"Okay," Charles nodded.

Charles wanted to know Daphne if she was angry but didn't know how to ask.

Benjamin cleared his throat.

Daphne looked at him, her eyes questioning, 'What's wrong?'

Benjamin's eyes signaled, 'Are you being a bit biased? I'm a rule-abiding good person.'

Daphne didn't believe him at all. She had been tricked by him before.

"What you said is not quite appropriate," Benjamin suddenly said. "What if Mr. Lancelot is very good at this, far better than me?"

Daphne couldn't understand what the two of them were up to, so she decided not to care. "If that's the case, do as you please. I'm going upstairs to call my dad."

After saying that, Daphne went upstairs, not planning to meddle in the affairs between Charles and Benjamin.

After telling Alexander that Diana and Louis had returned and setting a time to celebrate the New Year together, Daphne went to check on the three kids.

The atmosphere in the room was a bit strange.

Daphne looked at Lon and Diana, who were sitting there silently, and quietly asked Louis, "What's wrong with them?"

"They had a fight," Louis replied truthfully.

Daphne was somewhat puzzled.

Lon and Diana had a fight?

"Daphne, I'm going home," Lon stood up, still looking like a well-behaved little gentleman. "Thank you for your hospitality."

"Why not stay a bit longer?" Daphne asked.

Lon glanced at Diana sitting on the floor, suppressing his emotions. "No."

"Alright, I'll have the driver take you home." Daphne didn't insist, but before sending him off, she said to Diana, "Diana, Lon is leaving. Won't you see him off?"

Diana obediently stood up and walked over, still silent.

This was the first time Daphne had seen Diana like this. After all, she had always been lively and happy since she was a child. Even when she encountered something unhappy, she would quickly forget it.

"No need," Lon said and went downstairs.

Diana still followed him.

It wasn't until the driver drove away that Diana turned and went upstairs.

Seeing Diana's unusual state, Daphne called out to her, "Did you have a fight with Lon?"

Diana first shook her head, then seemed to realize she answered wrong and nodded.

"Can you tell me what happened?" Daphne was concerned about the children.

"Mom," Diana's tone was a bit helpless as she leaned on Daphne.

Daphne responded softly. "Yes?"

"Can I only have one good friend in my life?" Diana asked sincerely.

Daphne thought for a moment and gave her an answer, "As long as you can care for each friend and maintain your relationships well, you can have as many as you want."

"Can I play with Lon and also with Caspian?" Diana asked again.

Daphne nodded. "Of course."

"Lon is mad at me for playing with Caspian," Diana was very upset, not knowing what she did wrong. "I don't know what's fun or delicious in Ivrea City, so I asked Charles to help me prepare gifts for him, but he didn't want any of it."

Daphne wanted to ask for more details, but Louis came over.

Seeing Diana's red eyes, Louis said to her, "You go upstairs first. I need to talk to Mom."

"Okay," Diana was clearly distracted.

She hugged her little wooden doll and walked upstairs step by step, her face puffed up with anger.

Daphne was a bit worried about her. "Is what Diana said true?"

"Not much different. Lon was unhappy after finding out that Diana played with Caspian for many days in Ivrea City. When he learned that the wooden doll in Diana's hand was made by Caspian, he asked Diana to give it to him," Louis explained.

Daphne was a bit puzzled.

This didn't seem like something Lon, the little gentleman, would do.

"Diana didn't agree, so Lon asked her to choose between the wooden doll and him," Louis summarized. "Diana felt he was making things difficult for her, and they started giving each other the cold shoulder."
