Chapter 53 Betraying Her.

"Alright, you two, stop talking about women," Austin didn't want to listen anymore. "Can't you talk about something else?"

"Have you solved your problem?" Charles, in a bad mood, would definitely drag his brother along.

Austin paused momentarily while pouring the wine, casually remarking as if the recent incident had no significance, "Only dilemmas can truly be labeled as problems. What I encountered was hardly even an issue."

"Did you find out whose child is in her belly?" Charles continued to provoke Austin.

Austin slammed the bottle on the table and finally lost his temper, "How do you expect me to find out? You know how chaotic that social circle is. Director, producer, fellow actors in the same crew, she herself doesn't even know whose child it is."

Samuel had something to say, "It's not as exaggerated as you described. I think she's a dedicated and talented actress."

"Who have you not found fault with?" Austin also became irritated and fired back, "Whether it's her or Daphne, anyone you have seen is not good enough."

Austin grabbed the bottle on the table and finished it in one gulp, momentarily quelling the irritation that welled up inside him. Whenever he thought about the child in her belly, and If it belongs to someone else, his chest constricted from suffocation.

"If you care so much, why not get a divorce?" Samuel asked, "She seems to want to leave you."

Austin's eyes filled with a chilling coldness, and he blurted out, "If I get a divorce, how can I retaliate against her betrayal?"

"You're an asshole," Samuel replied.

Austin was not in the mood to stay any longer or discuss anything. He stood up and said to Charles, "I'm going back first. Take your time."

After speaking, it seemed that he thought of something. He took out a miniature perfume from his pocket, sprayed it on himself, then took out a brand-new lipstick and applied it to his hand. After smearing it evenly, he pressed it against his collar, and instantly a lipstick mark appeared.

This action confused both of them. Charles furrowed his brows, feeling uncomfortable with the strong fragrance. "What are you doing?"

"Driving her crazy." Austin threw away the perfume and lipstick and said with a serious tone.

"You have a unique way of doing things," Samuel commented.

"Nothing better to do?" Charles added.

"I can't really find a woman just to use her lipstick and perfume," Austin replied, nonchalant. "If she betrays me once, I'll make her experience betrayal multiple times."

"If she no longer likes you, no matter how many times you betray her, it won't stimulate her emotions. And if she still likes you, your actions will indeed provoke her. Pregnant women should avoid emotional fluctuations, as it can affect the fetus," Samuel advised.

Austin stiffened but quickly brushed it off. "It's not even my child. Whether it affects or not, it has nothing to do with me."

After saying that, he left.

However, Samuel and Charles both noticed that he wiped off the lipstick mark from his collar before leaving.

"Let's go too," Samuel said to Charles.

Charles's gaze fell on the lipstick and perfume, and his eyes darkened slightly. "You go first."

"Okay."

Samuel put on his mask and hat and left.

At 11 PM, Daphne had already finished talking to Evan about their separation and had taken a shower at home. Just as she was about to go to bed, the buzzing of her phone vibrating caught her attention. She answered and put it on speakerphone. "Mark?"

"It's me," Mark glanced at his boss in the back seat, mustering up the courage to say, "I have something I want to discuss with you. Are you at home now?"

"I am," Daphne replied. She still had a good impression of Mark.

Mark said, "Then I'll come up to see you."

"Okay."

With those words, the call ended. Mark pursed his lips and looked at Charles. "Boss, I have taken care of the task you assigned."

"Forget about what you revealed last time. If there's another time, you don't need to stay at the Lancelot Group anymore." Charles draped his suit jacket over his arm and walked away.
It was a white shirt with suit pants.

Mark replied, "Yes boss."

Charles got out of the car and walked towards the building where Daphne was. Mark stopped him and said, "Wait!"

Charles paused. His handsome face, with clear angles, had a touch of cold, restrained elegance due to only wearing a white shirt. "How about I arrange a nearby room for you so you can freshen up and change before meeting Miss Murphy?" Mark's gaze brushed over the lipstick mark on his white shirt collar.

When the boss called him past nine o'clock to pick him up, he didn't hesitate to go. But he never expected that his boss would have lipstick marks on his collar and the scent of perfume on him.

Even when the boss was with Miss Baker, there had never been any lipstick marks, except for patting on the back for comfort. There was hardly any physical contact. And yet today, there were lipstick marks, and the scent was so strong.

Only by getting close could this be done! "She's a queen?" Charles glanced at him coldly, his words seasoned with venom. "To see her, I must bathe and change?"

"No, it's that there's a woman's lipstick mark on you," Mark pointed out, taking the initiative to explain. "And there's a strong perfume scent. It might not be good to meet Miss Murphy like this."

"It's fine," Charles wanted this effect. In fact, he didn't know why he had decided to learn from Austin. When he heard Samuel's words, he suddenly wanted to know if Daphne cared even a little bit about him in her heart.

People are always contradictory. Even if he didn't like her, and even didn't want to see her, he still inexplicably did this stupid thing for an answer. Thinking about all this, he took a big step forward, standing tall and straight with his broad shoulders and narrow waist, the perfect walking clothes rack.

On Daphne's side, she was wearing home clothes, looking delicate and quiet. Just seeing her could calm even the most restless heart. When she heard the knock on the door, she walked over and opened it.

She had been considering installing a smart peephole, but since she didn't plan to stay here for long, she didn't bother. So, when she opened the door and saw Charles, her eyebrows furrowed almost imperceptibly, displaying her dislike for him.

"It's you," she said directly.

"I asked Mark to find you," Charles said, draping his suit jacket over his left arm. Compared to before, when he only wore a white shirt, he looked clearer and more refined. "There's something I want to discuss with you." Charles was the last person she wanted to see right now.

And the last thing she wanted to hear from him was; “There’s something I want to discuss with you."
