Chapter 607 Annoying People

Jesse was a guy who loved his peace and quiet. Except for Elara, he wasn't too fond of anyone yapping away in his car.

Right now, Yasmin was on a roll.

"Jesse, are you really the president of HorizonTech Group?"

"Eugene told me your monthly salary is around twenty grand. Is it more than that?"

"I've seen your car. It looks like it costs six or seven hundred thousand dollars."

"Jesse, why aren't you saying anything?"

Jesse didn't respond. Trying to stay polite, he came up with a lame excuse. "I'm not a great driver, can't do two things at once. If you don't want us to crash, please don't distract me."

"That's true," Yasmin started up again, "You're the company president, you usually have a driver, right?"

Just then, Jesse's phone rang. Seeing it was Elara, Jesse grabbed his Bluetooth earpiece, put it on, and answered.

"I don't know when I'll be back yet," Jesse said to Elara, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the two people in the car.

"Jesse." Yasmin was super nosy. She leaned forward to check out his phone. "Is Elara your girlfriend?"

Hearing a woman's voice, Elara asked, "What are you busy with?"

"He's here with a neighbor's daughter," Jesse explained briefly, "I'll fill you in when I get back."

"Do you want me to come over?" Elara asked.

Not for any other reason, Elara was just worried Jesse might be feeling helpless and sad alone. Even though he didn't say it, she knew Eugene was there.

"No need," Jesse declined. "I'll take them to eat, sort things out, and then I'll come back."

"What do you mean by 'coming back'?" Eugene got mad hearing this. "Today you must come back with me and marry Yasmin. I settled this with Nash years ago. If you dare disobey, I'll break your legs!"

"Your dad seems a bit harsh," Elara sighed softly.

Jesse parked the car in front of a restaurant, took the keys, got out, and turned off the Bluetooth. "Don't worry, I'll handle it."

"Let me know when you're coming back." Elara was just a bit worried about Jesse. "If there's anything you can't handle and need me, let me know."

Jesse agreed. In fact, He never intended to let Elara get involved because he didn't want her to face these messy things. After all, she deserved to be happy.

For the next hour, Eugene and Yasmin were eating inside, while Jesse sat nearby waiting for them.

Seeing they were almost done, Jesse paid the bill and said, "I've booked a hotel for you. You can buy your tickets and go back tomorrow."

Eugene slammed the table. "What did you say?"

"I'm not going back with you," Jesse said calmly. Since growing up, he was no longer afraid of Eugene's harsh attitude. "Even if you call the police, it won't help."

"We'll talk about this later. Eugene rarely comes to Gedser, why don't you take him sightseeing?" Yasmin tried to ease the situation. "It'll be a nice break."

Jesse glanced up, his eyes locking onto her. He didn't say a word, but Yasmin felt the pressure.

She swallowed hard and forced a smile. "How about it?"

"You brought him here, so you should take him sightseeing," Jesse replied coldly. "I have work to do, no time for this."

"Isn't tomorrow the weekend?" Yasmin asked.

Jesse ignored her and went ahead with confirming the hotel booking.

Hearing about the hotel, Eugene's pride flared up. "Why do I have to stay in a hotel? I came all this way, and you won't take me to your place?"

"Staying in a hotel isn't appropriate," Yasmin added. "Let's go to your place."

Jesse ignored them and drove them to the hotel. "Stay here or find your own place," he said.

Eugene wanted to argue.

Yasmin, seeing the hotel, pulled him aside and persuaded, "Eugene, let's stay here. It's a five-star hotel, really nice."

"I won't stay!" Eugene snapped, his frustration evident. He had no interest in the luxury of the hotel. His mind was consumed by one thought: Jesse was no longer obedient, he had grown up, and Eugene couldn't control him anymore.

"Let's stay for now and talk to him later," Yasmin continued to persuade. "We came suddenly, Jesse might just need some space. Let's give him some time."

"There's no need for that," Eugene said stubbornly.

Throughout the process, Jesse said nothing. He knew that once Yasmin saw the hotel, she would persuade Eugene to stay without him saying a word.

After ten minutes of talking, Yasmin managed to persuade Eugene.

After they checked in, Jesse called Yasmin out and found a quiet place to talk. "Why did you bring my dad here?"

"What do you mean?" Yasmin pretended.

Jesse's demeanor was cold and imposing. "You have one chance, make it count."

At that moment, Yasmin felt frozen.

Before, she just thought Jesse was handsome. Now, standing alone with him, she felt very nervous, like being with a very intimidating boss.

"It was Eugene who wanted to come see you." Yasmin found an excuse to coax him.

Jesse didn't hesitate to expose her lie. "He never wants to see me."

Not before, not now, not in the future.

Eugene's personality dictated his actions.

"Since you managed to coax him into coming here, figure out how to take him back tomorrow," Jesse instructed, adding a threat, "If you can't, forget about your account with tens of thousands of followers."

"You think I tricked Eugene into coming?" Yasmin continued to act.

"Stop pretending," Jesse exposed her without mercy. "I can tell if you're lying."

Yasmin's heart raced, feeling a bit panicked. To achieve her goal, she continued acting, "Eugene insisted on bringing me to see you. He wants me to marry you."

"Is that what you want?" Jesse's cold tone was emotionless.

Yasmin hesitated. Jesse was handsome and rich, who wouldn't want to marry him? But she knew Jesse wasn't easily fooled; he was too smart.
