Chapter 685 Charles Is Childish

Louis didn't say much more.

Matters of the heart were only clear to the person involved. Since this was her choice, he respected it.

But as for Caspian...

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Diana was puzzled by Louis's gaze.

"If you and Caspian don't work out in a month, come back," Louis said, not having much patience for people who disappear and don't respond. "Don't linger over there."

"Can you win over a girl you like in a month?" Diana understood these matters well. "Pursuing someone is a long-term effort. You have to show your sincerity for them so that they will feel secure being with you."

"Are you saying it's Lon's fault for not pursuing you?" Louis deliberately twisted her words.

Diana gave him a unpleasant look, "I should record what you just said and send it to Mom and Dad, so they can see how you treat your sister now."

"Should I show Caspian the video of you saying you wanted to marry Lon when you were little?" Louis was never one to be easily cornered.

Diana couldn't outtalk him. "I'm going upstairs to sleep."

"Why do you like Caspian so much?" Louis really didn't understand. "He hasn't responded to your messages for years, nor has he contacted you. Do you think he's worth liking?"

"I like him because he has qualities you haven't seen," Diana said slowly, feeling much more relaxed than before.

Before Louis could respond, she went upstairs.

In the following days, Diana prepared everything she needed and even had someone secure a house for her in Ivrea City.

Time flew by, soon it was Tuesday. Diana took an early flight to Ivrea City, and her two large suitcases had already been sent ahead.

She arrived in Ivrea City by noon.

Charles knew Diana was coming and had sent someone to the airport to wait for her. He also prepared lunch at home. As soon as Diana got there, she headed straight for the dining table.

Over the years, Diana and Charles had always been close.

Besides Benjamin and Daphne, Charles was the elder Diana cared about the most.

"How long do you plan to stay in Ivrea City this time?" Charles, though in his forties or fifties, still looked much the same as when he was younger, and he was still strikingly handsome.

Diana swallowed the food in her mouth. "I haven't decided yet, but at least one or two months."

"Because of Caspian?" Charles asked.

"Not entirely," Diana said with a smile, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "Also because of you."

Charles raised his eyes slightly and said, "You can fool others with that, but not me."

"You don't believe me?"

"If you were really here for me, would you have gone two years without visiting?"

"I was busy with my studies," Diana explained, knowing that middle-aged people could be like children and needed to be coaxed. "Now that I'm done, I'll stay as long as you want."

"Your parents don't mind?" Charles asked.

"My dad would love for Louis and me not to disturb his time with Mom," Diana chatted naturally. "I stayed with them for two days recently, and he thought I was in the way."

Charles smiled thinly.

Diana suddenly had an idea. "Charles."

"Hmm?" Charles looked at her.

"If you and my mom hadn't divorced and had me and Louis later, would you feel we were in the way at this age?" Diana was very curious.

"Want the truth?" Charles's pleasant voice had a low tone.

Diana nodded.

"Yes," Charles said without hesitation.

"How heartless," Diana said. "Aren't you afraid that if you upset me, no one will take care of you in your old age since you're not married?"

"What will be, will be, there's no avoiding it," Charles joked, completely relaxed when interacting with Diana.

Diana chuckled and continued eating.

As she got older, she learned more about the elders' past, like the story between Daphne and Charles.

Diana could understand Daphne's choices and Charles's actions back then.

She didn't get involved in or judge adult matters.

Charles treated her well, so she should treat him well, at least giving him the happiness of having a daughter like Benjamin and Daphne.

"Give me some information about Caspian, and I promise to make your later years enjoyable," Diana said, revealing her true motive. "I'll even make others envy you for having a sweet, understanding, and adorable daughter."

Charles ate his food slowly.

Diana asked him, "How about it?"

Charles showed no intention of revealing anything. "Talking during meals isn't good for digestion."

Diana knew Charles intended to keep Caspian's secrets.

She didn't press further, planning to talk to him after the meal.

But after eating, Charles told her he was going to his room for a nap, giving her no chance to talk.

This behavior puzzled Diana. He used to tell her all about Caspian's daily life, but why was he so secretive now? Could something have happened between Charles and Caspian?

"Ms. Reynolds, Mr. Lancelot asked me to give this to you." the butler, Wilder Ward, suddenly appeared, handing her a small USB drive. "You can watch it in your room; Mr. Lancelot has set up a computer there."

"Okay," Diana said, taking the drive with a smile. "Thank you."

She then headed upstairs.

Though she hadn't visited often, Charles had always kept a room for her on the second floor.

Everyone in the Lancelot family knew Charles treated Diana like his own daughter.

In her room, she turned on the computer, inserted the USB drive, and a page popped up with a few lines of text.

"Please note:

You found this USB drive yourself.

I didn't tell you anything about Caspian.

I am not a mole."

After these lines, there was a string of bold red text: "Delete after viewing."

Diana's eyes filled with a warm smile.

Charles was getting more childish with age.

In another room, Wilder went to find Charles after seeing Diana take the USB drive upstairs. Charles, dressed in loose casual clothes, still looked handsome. "Did you give it to her?"

"Yes," Wilder reported. "She should be watching it in her room now."
