Chapter 228 Daphne, We Love You
"By the way," Evan, wearing glasses and looking very refined, said, "Why did Jesse choose to be Daphne's assistant?"

As he left, Daphne asked the question she'd wanted to ask, but hadn't because Gavin was there, "Has Benjamin mentioned when he might be coming back these past few days?"
"Why are you so concerned?" Evan was genuinely curious. "Have you done something to betray Benjamin?"
"No." Daphne would never admit to that.
Evan adjusted his glasses, a look of disbelief deep in his eyes.
Daphne's behavior was too unusual.
Daphne knew that saying more would only make things worse. "Just tell me if he's contacted you."
"He has." Evan didn't lie to her.
Daphne was surprised.
They were really in contact?
She tried to stay calm but felt a bit nervous. "What did he say?"
"He said he'd be back on the 7th of this month." Evan showed her the chat log. "He said he wanted to get together with us."
Daphne looked at it.
It indeed said the 7th and specifically emphasized not to tell her for now.
She had a meeting with Luke on the 6th of this month If everything went as planned, she would wrap up that day and head to the airport.
After Benjamin left or got busy, she would come back, so he wouldn't have time to talk to her about that day, which would keep herrelatively safe.
"What's up?" Evan saw her deep in thought.
Daphne lied. "Nothing, I was just thinking about what to talk when I see Benjamin. Without the others, the atmosphere won't be lively."
She was introverted, Evan too, and Benjamin even more so.
Only Kevin was a chatterbox.
In Benjamin's presence, even Kevin would fall silent and act reserved.

He and Kevin simply needed to remain quiet; Benjamin was solely interested in Daphne.

If that were the case, she might consider not going.
Their conversation didn't avoid Jesse.

"I'm just joking, don't take it to heart," Evan said, noticing her disappointment. "It's getting late, let's grab a bite to eat and continue our conversation over dinner."

They got up and left the pavilion, walking towards the open, spacious lawn.
As soon as Daphne arrived, she saw Gavin in the distance, seemingly talking to Lydia and Kevin, with many square objects around them.
But because of the night and the distance, she couldn't see clearly.
Just as she was about to walk over.
Evan stopped her and said, "You stay here."
Daphne was puzzled.

They were holding sparked things, approaching those boxes.

Evan took it all in, gently ruffling her hair with all the love and care, saying, "Daphne, welcome back."
"Ms. Murphy, welcome back." Jesse's usually cold face also softened a bit.
Daphne looked away.
They were too good to her.

Gavin, Kevin, and Alexander also came to her.
"When did you prepare all these?" Daphne asked after calming down a bit.

This place was beautiful, away from the city.

"Sis," Lydia produced a small bouquet of ivy flowers from somewhere and handed it to her, her beautiful eyes only seeing Daphne. "This is for you, I will always love you."
