Chapter 463 Did They Get It Wrong

"Nope," Daphne shot back, dead serious, determined to win this round. "Without you around, I'm the top dog among the kids."

If Benjamin really had a thing with her, she couldn't even picture it.

As a kid, she hated being looked after; she was all about doing her own thing. Depending on others? Nah, that was a no-go. She only felt good when she could handle stuff herself.

If Benjamin had always been there to take care of her, she'd probably have turned out spoiled, and that just wasn't her vibe.

"You were that impressive?"

"Yup."

"Kinda regret it now," Benjamin suddenly said.

Daphne was a bit thrown off. She thought he had figured it out. Why the regret now?

"If you were engaged to me, I'd have had a little sidekick," Benjamin joked. "Someone calling my name every day, I'd have been stoked."

"I'm hitting the sack," Daphne said, putting away the photo album.

Benjamin pressed his lips together. Daphne really left him speechless.

"You're not as cute as you were back then," he started to tease.

Daphne knew he was trying to get a rise out of her. After a moment, she said seriously, "Why don't you try talking to me like I used to sweet-talk you when I was little? I'll do it again for you."

"No one can copy your sweetness," Benjamin shot back, all casual. "It's cool if you can't do it now; when the time's right, you'll just know how."

She didn't keep the convo going. She put the photo album back and hit the bed.

Maybe it was seeing Jasmine's photo or chatting with Lyla on the phone, she dreamed of Jasmine.

This time, Jasmine didn't leave or run away. She hugged her and said she felt at ease with her being with Benjamin.

"Mom..." Daphne murmured in her sleep.

Benjamin, always tuned in, reached out and held her, giving her a sense of security.

That night, Daphne slept like a baby.

In the morning, they went about their own stuff. The photos from the night before didn't cause much of a stir. If anything, it made them both more pumped to propose to each other.

After getting everything ready for the proposal, Daphne started sorting out the details and finalizing the plan with Emma and Zoey.

After hearing her plan, they had just one question, "You sure you wanna propose to Benjamin on June 12th?"

"Yup."

"No changes?"

"Nope."

With her confirmation, Emma and Zoey were on board.

There were still a few days left until June 12th, so there was time to clue Benjamin in.

"There's just one snag," Daphne said, looking at her plan. She wasn't totally sure about the most crucial part. "I don't know how to get Benjamin to show up."

"Isn't that a no-brainer?" Kevin blurted out.

Benjamin definitely wouldn't say no if she asked.

"Actually, it's tricky," Daphne thought it all through. "For a proposal, Benjamin needs to dress up."

He'd definitely get suspicious if he was requested to dress up. She couldn't figure out a way to make him dress up without getting suspicious.

"Piece of cake," Emma and Zoey said, running around to set everything up. "Leave it to us. You just need to play along and tell a little white lie. We promise we'll get Benjamin out for you."

"Really?"

"Totally," Emma and Zoey answered confidently.

Daphne trusted them and agreed.

After planning everything that day, Emma and Zoey went to find Benjamin.

They met in a private room at a restaurant, and Benjamin also had a proposal plan in hand.

"Why don't you propose on the 12th?" Emma lied smoothly, without a hint of deceit. "Zoey and I will tell Daphne a little fib, get her to dress up nicely, and come help us out."

"Will she buy it?" Benjamin was a bit skeptical.

"She will," Zoey assured. "Daphne's super good to us, and she knows about our personal stuff."

Among the three of them, they never hesitated to help each other and were true friends who'd do anything for one another.

"How sure are you?" Benjamin was more cautious than usual.

After all, it was a proposal. Daphne would definitely want to look her best, and Benjamin didn't want any slip-ups.

Emma and Zoey exchanged a glance and said, "One hundred percent."

How could it not be one hundred percent? Daphne was also planning to propose to Benjamin that day, so she would definitely be dressed to the nines!

"This is the proposal venue and the whole plan," Benjamin handed them the plan, one copy each. "It's best to get her out in the evening. The location is marked. You just need to get her there; Evan and the others will handle the rest."

"Got it," they agreed.

They went through the proposal plan step by step.

After reading it, they couldn't help but sigh. No wonder they were a couple; even their proposal ideas were pretty similar.

"Don't let anything slip in front of her," Benjamin reminded them, leaving no detail unchecked. "Keep it under wraps."

"Got it." They agreed quickly.

Meanwhile, Kevin was called over by Evan and the others.

The purpose was simple: to help Benjamin set up the proposal venue and handle all the related tasks.

"Proposal?" Kevin was surprised when he heard this, so much so that his words were filled with uncertainty. "Are you sure Benjamin is proposing to Daphne?"

Wasn't Daphne supposed to propose to Benjamin on the 12th? Did they get it mixed up?
