Chapter 734 She Will Not Become the Old Me

Diana wanted to say "yes," but thinking about their relationship, she just couldn't bring herself to say it.

So she threw the question to Daphne. "Mom, am I better at making you happy than Dad?"

"Yes." Daphne nodded.

Diana immediately became smug and turned to Benjamin. "Did you hear that?"

"She's just giving you an out." Benjamin saw through it clearly, his beautiful eyes indifferent.

Diana was frustrated, but she knew he was right.

Besides Benjamin, she really couldn't find anyone else who put so much effort into making Mom happy.

Many people's relationships became dull in middle age, but Dad and Mom still seemed like they were in the honeymoon phase, making others want to have a sweet romance too.

"What exactly did you talk about?" Diana tactfully changed the subject, standing next to Caspian and asking, "Did my dad give you a hard time?"

"No." Caspian thought Diana's family was particularly nice. "Mr. Reynolds is great."

Diana glanced at Benjamin.

It was rare for Caspian to praise someone as great. Did they really not talk about anything upstairs?

"Didn't you always say you wanted to introduce that restaurant to Charles?" Benjamin's deep voice was unhurried. "It's mealtime now, we can go."

"Oh, right!" Diana's eyes immediately lit up. "Let's go."

The restaurant was not far from where Daphne lived, and the food was excellent.

Diana went there several times a month.

Twenty minutes later.

They sat down in a small courtyard of the estate.

The restaurant was made up of an estate with a total of seven courtyards, only serving seven tables of guests a day.

"Mr. Reynolds, come with me to choose some ingredients." Diana stood up and said to Benjamin. "See which ones you will like."

Benjamin went with her.

As they reached the door, Diana called out to Louis and Caspian, "You guys go to the wine cellar and get some wine, the ones in Room 1 are ours."

After giving these instructions, Diana left with Benjamin.

Outside in the courtyard, Benjamin sat down in the corridor, his long coat giving him an extraordinary and handsome appearance. "I'll wait for you here."

"Aren't you going?" Diana asked tentatively.

"No."

"You should go, didn't you personally choose the ingredients last time?"

"Don't think I don't know what you're up to." Benjamin's eyes saw through everything, his casual tone exposing her intentions. "You just want to get us all out of the way."

Diana coughed awkwardly. She was caught.

"You really want your mom and Charles to be alone?" Benjamin never thought he had raised a little traitor.

"Charles and Mom haven't seen each other for so many years, they must have things to talk about." Diana sat next to him, soothing his emotions. "You see Mom every day, it won't hurt to miss a little while."

"Do you want me to change your name to Diana Lancelot?" Benjamin raised an eyebrow.

Diana joked with him, "I wouldn't mind."

Benjamin then changed the subject, "The base is in need of fresh blood, you're just right."

Diana was startled. "I still think Diana Reynolds sounds best!"

Benjamin continued. "When do you plan to join? I'll personally make a training plan for you."

Diana felt helpless. "Mr. Reynolds..."

"Your mom has never been good at chatting." Benjamin lightly tapped her head, doting yet slightly scolding. "Leaving her alone with Charles will just make her uncomfortable."

Diana scratched her head. "Oh, right."

She had only thought about Charles missing Mom and forgot about that.

Seeing her like this, Benjamin lightly poked her forehead. "And you still say you're the best at making her happy."

"I just didn't think it through for a moment," Diana explained for herself. "You called Caspian upstairs to talk, it threw me off."

"So you're saying it's my fault?" Benjamin's voice rose slightly.

Diana quickly adapted. "No, it's mine."

"Go choose the ingredients yourself, I'll go in first." Benjamin didn't say much more to her.

Diana responded and watched him leave.

Looking at his tall and handsome back, she couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration.

It seemed like Benjamin was a better match than Charles for Mom.

Charles was as quiet as Mom, if they were together for a lifetime, it would definitely be boring.

Unlike Benjamin, who seemed quiet on the surface, but was a typical chatterbox in front of Mom, always energetic and enthusiastic.

Luckily, she was also a chatterbox. She wouldn't be bored with Caspian in the future.

In the small courtyard.

After Louis and Caspian went to the wine cellar, only Daphne and Charles were left.

After so many years, the past was no longer a sore point, and they could chat naturally like friends.

"Caspian is a good person." Charles chatted with Daphne, his pleasant voice as always. "I watched him grow up, you can rest assured with Diana being with him."

Daphne responded casually.

When Diana was little, she often talked about Caspian, and she still did as she grew up.

She understood Diana's feelings for Caspian.

"Are you really planning to let Caspian manage the Lancelot Group?" Daphne changed the subject, chatting casually.

"He's quite suitable," Charles said frankly, not hiding anything. "With him there, I don't have to worry."

They fell into a brief silence.

Charles's gaze openly fell on her, and he said something he had wanted to say for a long time, "Seeing you and Benjamin still so in love, I'm relieved."

"What about you?" Daphne asked.

Charles was still gentle with her. "What?"

"Why didn't you remarry?" Daphne still asked.

"No need, I haven't figured out my own life, I can't mess up someone else's," Charles said honestly, then added lightly, "Can't let another woman become the old you."

He had let go a few years after Daphne got married.

But letting go didn't mean not caring.

In the following years, his parents introduced him to many girls, some with good personalities and good looks, and he had some feelings, but none made him determined to walk down the aisle.

His favorite was still Daphne.

Besides her, he didn't want to enter the marriage hall with anyone else.

Nor did he want to be as reckless as when he was young, neglecting the present for the past.

So he stayed single.

"She won't," Daphne said.

Not to mention her love for Benjamin, even if he abandoned her, she would never go to Charles, let alone get back together with him.

The path she chose, once decided, she would keep moving forward, no matter how thorny, never looking back.
