Chapter 692 I Was Lying to You
Seeing Diana's unusual expression, Caspian knew she was already drunk and unconscious, so he couldn't help but speak his mind, "Who told you I have a girlfriend?"
"You did," Diana accused him.
Caspian's eyes darkened. "You believe it just because I said it?"
Diana nodded, looking as obedient as could be.
"I don't have a girlfriend, I lied to you," Caspian said, his gaze locked on her, a mix of firmness and gentleness in his voice. "Go back to your room and sleep. I'll take you home in the morning."
"Then why did you tell me you had a girlfriend?" Diana seemed to be fixated on this issue.
Caspian suppressed his emotions. "No reason."
"If you don't tell me, I won't sleep," Diana pouted.
Caspian's thin lips pressed into a straight line, emotions churning inside him.
Diana's beautiful eyes met his, and their gazes locked.
The emotions Caspian had been suppressing almost surged out again. If he hadn't forcibly controlled himself, he was afraid he might scare her.
"Really?" Caspian's voice was hoarse.
Diana nodded, cutely saying, "Uh-huh."
Caspian released the hand propped on one side of Diana, his long, slender fingers with distinct joints took out his phone from his pocket and made a call.
Diana looked puzzled, having no idea what he was doing.
A few seconds later, her confusion was answered.
"Charles," Caspian's deep gaze fell on the pretending-to-be-drunk Diana, his steady and clear tone unhurried. "Diana is drunk and at my place. Can you come pick her up?"
Charles, knowing Diana's plan, made an excuse, "I just got back to The Lancelot Mansion, I can't come right away."
Caspian's heart skipped a beat.
Charles asked him, "Is she causing a lot of trouble?"
"Not really," Caspian lied effortlessly, "she just insists on seeing you."
Charles naturally replied to Caspian, "Try to calm her down first. If that doesn't work, just knock her out and put her to bed. Don't worry about anything else."
Charles knew Caspian wouldn't do that and also knew Diana was doing this on purpose tonight.
Caspian looked at Diana, who was still staring at him, and said okay.
After hanging up the phone, Caspian felt troubled, not knowing how to deal with Diana.
"Why did you want Charles to come pick me up?" Diana, like a drunkard, questioned him aggressively. "Do you think I'm a nuisance?"
"No." Caspian didn't dare to be harsh with Diana.
Diana continued to ask, "Then what did you mean just now?"
"You're a girl, it's not appropriate for us to be alone in the same room." Caspian's thin lips parted slightly, speaking each word clearly, "I'll get you some toiletries. After you freshen up, go to sleep."
"Okay," Diana said dejectedly.
Caspian immediately went to get them.
While he was gone, Diana looked around. The entire living room was clean and tidy, spotless.
As for that wooden doll, she didn't see it.
A moment later.
Caspian brought her clean toiletries.
Diana took the toiletries and went to the bathroom. Seeing her staggering walk, Caspian's handsome brows furrowed. "Are you okay?"
"Uh-huh." Diana nodded.
After Diana went in, Caspian closed the door for her.
He had already filled the bathtub for her, but seeing her drunken state, Caspian was still a bit worried.
Ten minutes later.
Diana was soaking comfortably in the bubble bath.
Thinking about Caspian, her brows furrowed in thought.
As a drunk person, should Diana put on her clothes neatly or just throw them on?
If she dressed neatly, Caspian would definitely be suspicious given his intelligence. If she just threw them on, it wouldn't be appropriate; after all, she was a girl.
While thinking about this, there was a sudden knock on the door. Before Diana could say anything, the bathroom door was opened.
In that instant, she was full of questions, her mind racing with thoughts. Wasn't Caspian a decent person? Could it be an act?
"Hello," a cute female voice came in, tentatively saying, "Your boyfriend called me to help. Can I come in?"
Caspian was standing outside, about to explain that he wasn't her boyfriend, but the girl had already gone in.
When Diana saw her, she blinked.
"Your boyfriend said you were drunk and worried you might fall while bathing, so he asked me from next door to come help," the girl said, standing not far away. "Can I come over?"
Diana nodded, then put her index finger to her lips and shushed.
With that simple gesture, the girl instantly understood.
She came over to Diana's side, glanced outside, and then chatted with Diana, "Are you pretending to be drunk?"
"Yes." Diana smiled.
"He seems to care about you," the girl chatted with Diana. "I've lived next door to him for years, and this is the first time I've seen him bring a girl home."
"He didn't really bring me home." Diana liked this cute girl. "I pretended to be drunk and clung to him."
"Is there anything you need my help with?" the girl asked.
"After I get dressed, tell him I fell asleep," Diana's eyes twinkled as she spoke directly, "and have him carry me to bed."
"Sure," the girl agreed readily.
A while later.
Diana finished her bath and dressed herself.
The girl did as Diana had instructed, went out to call Caspian, and told him Diana had fallen asleep and to carry her to bed.
Caspian, without any suspicion, confirmed Diana was dressed and then went into the bathroom to carry her to his room.
As he placed her on the bed, he noticed the wooden doll and the photo frame with Diana's picture on the nightstand.
He quickly moved his body, instinctively trying to block them.
But Caspian didn't know that Diana had seen everything the moment he carried her in with her squinted eyes.
She confirmed in her heart that Caspian had feelings for her but didn't dare to admit it for some reason, pretending to be cold and distant.
After tucking Diana in, Caspian quietly removed all the items related to her from the room and placed them in the study.
He thanked the girl and saw her out.
Half an hour later.
Caspian finished freshening up and quietly walked to the room where Diana was.
