Chapter 38 I Really Misjudged You

Kevin replied to Lydia: "I am Daphne’s sweetie."

Kevin replied to Evan: "No."

dog No.1: "Did you get your idol’s autograph?"

dog No.2: "Damn it! I asked Daphne to take me before, but she didn't!"

dog No.3: "You're so excited just to watch a race. Did I say something to Daffy when we slept together?"

Kevin: "Three dogs aren't worthy of speaking!"

Dog No.1, dog No.2, dog No.3 all replied in unison: "You're just jealous of us."

The more Kevin looked, the angrier he got. He was so angry that even sitting in the passenger seat, his frustration was completely apparent. "Daphne, they're mocking me for being single!"

"It's okay, I'll be one soon too." Kevin's eyes lit up.

With a quick move, he retorted with what Daphne said, and the anger in his heart finally diminished a bit. Daphne drove around the suburbs for several laps and returned home at 1 a.m.

Lying on the bed in her room, she finally came down completely. She also realized a profound problem. Compared to marrying Charles, she was quite happy with her solitary life. She had friends when she wasn't happy, and she had friends when she was. Love is not a necessity in life.

For the next few days, Daphne maintained this light-hearted state. Most of the time, she immersed herself in studying the materials her dummy dad had given her. If it weren't for the phone call from Ivrea City, she could have stayed in Gedser until the day she received the divorce certificate.

When Daphne saw that it was Laura calling, her initial reaction was not to answer, but when it rang for the second time, she picked up.

"Daphne."

"Mom."

"Could you come to Ivrea City?" Laura knew she had been in Ivrea City, and her words sounded more complex than usual."

"Grandpa, after learning about the things Charles did to you, he got furious and is currently receiving treatment," Daphne's grip on the phone tightened. Marcus had always been incredibly kind to her, even more so better than her own grandfather.

"Okay." After hanging up the phone, she informed Kevin and Lydia.

Lydia, upon hearing this, still had some worries in her heart, "Daffy, can I accompany you?"

"I'm going to handle things," Daphne responded gently to her younger sister. "When you have a break, whenever you want to visit Ivrea City, I'll accompany you then."

"But you shouldn't handle it alone, call for help. Okay Daffy?”

"Hmm?"

"Besides being your sister, I'm also someone you can confide in." Upon hearing Lydia's words, Daphne paused. She walked over and rubbed her head, her eyes softened with a gentle smile,

"Let's go." Lydia insisted on taking her to the airport, and Daphne didn't stop her. It was 3 p.m. when the plane arrived at Ivrea City. Daphne called Laura upon getting into the car and found out which hospital they were in, and rushed over.

By the time she arrived, Marcus had already been transferred to the ward. He was awake but still looked pale, and not as energetic as before.

"Daphne?" Laura noticed her first. Daphne had brought along her grandfather's favorite fruits and nutritional supplements. After putting them down, she greeted everyone individually. Besides Laura and herself, Marcus and Charles were also there.

Charles seemed a little low in spirits, dressed impeccably in a black pinstriped suit, his appealing eyebrows and eyes exuding a hint of solemnity. What stood out the most were the five fingerprints on his face. Was it Marcus who did this?

"Daphne, come here," Marcus's mood seemed to brighten only upon seeing her. Daphne went over.

She was genuinely worried about this old man. In the past two years of their interaction, she discovered that Marcus was a very interesting person, knowledgeable and not rigid. They had truly become good friends.

"I know all about your affairs," Marcus held her hand, a deep sense of guilt apparent in his eyes. "It's the fault of our Lancelot family, I failed to educate him properly."

"It's his fault," Daphne comforted him, her voice gentle. "It has nothing to do with you or the Lancelot family." Marcus's emotions became even more complex, feeling even more remorse towards Daphne. How could Charles, that scoundrel, not cherish such a good girl!

"Rest assured, as long as I'm alive, that woman will never enter the gates of our Lancelot family," Marcus spoke sternly, without a hint of hesitation.

The phrase meant as a joke, "If he dares to marry her, I will die before him."

"Marcus," Charles disagreed, his expression showing disapproval. Marcus didn't even look at him as he was truly angry.

Daphne was also startled by her grandfather's words and tried to comfort him, saying, "Marcus, this idea of yours is not right."

"Do you have a better idea?"
"Yes."

"Tell me."

"You should live with great spirit. That would be the greatest deterrent."

"Is that so?"

"Of course," Daphne tried to reassure him, not wanting him to be upset. "If I can't get the approval of the person I like's family, I would be scared and fearful whenever I hear their family's name." Charles glanced at her. This woman, she's so good at talking nonsense.

"I dare anyone to disagree!" Marcus took it seriously. "You can rest assured; I will be your strong support. If anyone dares to have an opinion about you, I will argue with them."

"In that case, you should take good care of yourself." Daphne was particularly good at comforting people. "My future happiness relies on you watching over me."

Marcus agreed, "Alright." The two of them continued their conversation, completely ignoring Charles.

"If only you were the daughter-in-law of the Lancelot family," Marcus became emotional and Daphne remained silent.

Suddenly, Marcus called her, "Daphne."

"Yes?"

"Why don't you become a member of our Lancelot family as well?"

"Huh?"

"I will kick this bastard out of the Lancelot family." Marcus really had such thoughts. Charles's image in his mind was deteriorating. "Then, you can become the successor of our Lancelot family, and you can also manage the Lancelot Group." Daphne remained silent.

After considering his words, she asked, "Do you no longer love me?"

"How is that possible? You will always be my beloved granddaughter!" Marcus's spirits improved significantly.

"Then why do you want me to inherit the Lancelot Group and earn money for Charles?" Daphne tried to make the old man happy and divert his complicated thoughts. "He holds shares in the Lancelot Group, so if I work hard and earn money, he can still receive dividends."
Charles remained silent.

Marcus pondered for a moment, "You're right, Charles shouldn't take advantage."
