Chapter 478 I Will Fulfill All Your Wishes for You
"Hey," Benjamin shot a glance at Evan and then turned to Daphne, his voice low and smooth. "Wanna see a meteor shower?"
"A meteor shower?" Daphne looked a bit confused.
Benjamin didn't bother explaining, just guided her to look up at the starry sky.
Evan quickly sent out a command, and soon enough, the whole sky was lit up with meteors.
"A meteor shower?"
"Did Benjamin set this up?"
"How the heck did he pull this off?"
Kevin and the crew were totally caught off guard.
This wasn't in any of the plans they had.
"This is..." Daphne was also pretty stunned.
She'd only ever seen meteor showers in videos, never in real life.
But this one looked just like the videos, almost too real to believe.
"A meteor shower, just for you." Benjamin squeezed her hand, pouring all his love and tenderness into that simple gesture. "For the rest of your life, I'll make all your wishes come true."
"Benjamin..." Daphne felt a mix of emotions.
Benjamin just smiled gently.
That night, the epic fireworks and the romantic meteor shower left a lasting impression on everyone.
After the meteor shower, Benjamin took everyone to a prepped dinner spot at the edge of the meadow, where someone was already setting up the food.
Once they left, a figure emerged from the shadows.
Charles watched them go, his eyes filled with some unreadable, bottled-up emotion. No one noticed he was there.
While Daphne and the gang were having dinner, videos of the night's event were blowing up on social media.
Daphne and the others had no clue.
At that moment, she was still enjoying dinner, with Benjamin on her left, and Daisy, Lydia, and Alexander on her right.
Lydia watched Benjamin doting on Daphne, a big smile spreading across her mischievous, cute face.
Daphne had finally found her happiness.
At exactly ten o'clock, everyone headed home.
So did Daphne and Benjamin.
As she watched him hold her hand and lead her inside, Daphne got curious and asked, "Benjamin."
"Yeah?"
"Can I ask you something?"
"Before you ask, let's talk about you lying to me." Benjamin pulled her to sit on the couch, his deep voice both sexy and lazy. "Didn't think you were such a good actress; you totally fooled me."
Daphne hated these kinds of conversations.
She pursed her lips. "You let your guard down. Not my fault."
"Really?"
"Yep."
"So, does that mean I can lie to you in the future?" Benjamin teased.
Daphne shot back, "Nope."
"So, you can lie to me, but I can't lie to you?"
"Exactly," Daphne said confidently.
Benjamin chuckled, pulling her into his arms. "Tell me, what else can you do that I can't?"
Daphne went silent.
She didn't know how to answer that out-of-the-blue question.
In that casee, she changed the subject. "I wanted to ask you something. Why are we talking about this?"
"Can't think of anything? Need me to help you out?"
"I'm going to bed." Daphne dodged the topic.
Benjamin stood up and scooped her into his arms, his voice laced with laughter. "I'll carry you up."
Daphne didn't put up a fight.
As they headed upstairs, one thought kept bouncing around in her head: He noticed her the first time they met, got interested the second time, and fell in love the third time.
Wasn't their first meeting when he totally chewed them out? The second and third times weren't much different; he was still giving them a hard time.
Is this what he called a crush?
Benjamin saw the wheels turning in Daphne's head and knew exactly what she was thinking about. He didn't spill the beans, though.
Besides their childhood encounter, only he knew about their first three meetings after that. Daphne was never gonna figure it out on her own.
"Want me to carry you to the shower?" Benjamin asked, looking down at her in his arms.
Daphne quickly wriggled free, saying, "Nope," without missing a beat.
She then darted into the bathroom.
Benjamin watched her scurry away like a little rabbit and called out, "Daphne."
"Yeah?"
"Today's outfit and makeup really suit you," Benjamin complimented, his eyes soft. "You look stunning."
Daphne paused, then tried to play it cool as she headed into the bathroom.
She never thought getting compliments was a big deal. Even if people told her she was beautiful every day, she just shrugged it off.
But just now, she felt genuinely happy.
Benjamin saw right through her, a smile tugging at his lips.
Hearing the water running in the bathroom, he headed back to his bedroom.
With the proposal in the bag, it was time to start thinking about the wedding.
After freshening up, Daphne went to find Emma and Zoey to reminisce, wanting to confirm if her memories of the first three meetings with Benjamin were accurate.
"Why don't you just ask Benjamin?"
"Didn't he say he'd make all your wishes come true? Just tell him you wanna know about those first three meetings."
"Right!"
Both of them chimed in on the video call.
Daphne shook her head, her gut telling her that if she asked, Benjamin would definitely dodge the question.
"You know how Benjamin is. He'll grant my other wishes, but he'll find some excuse for this one," Daphne said. "I'll ask him tomorrow. If he doesn't spill, I'll wait until he talks about marriage."
Both of them backed her up.
After chatting for a bit, Emma suddenly got curious. "Let me ask you something."
"What?"
"What's it like dating Benjamin?"
Zoey's ears perked up too.
Daphne paused and answered based on her feelings, "Very reassuring, very steady."
"That's it?"
"That's it."
"Didn't you say he often lies to you and sets traps?" Emma pressed.
"That's just a little fun and games between lovers," Daphne replied. "We can't be all serious all the time."
Emma and Zoey thought about it and realized Daphne had a point. "When did you start liking Benjamin? I remember you used to be pretty scared of him."
Hearing this, Daphne's mind wandered back.
She always thought she had no special feelings for Benjamin until that night when they dared Benjamin to call the person he liked and confess. When her phone lit up with his call, Daphne realized her feelings for him were way deeper than she thought.
